View 4 Replies View RelatedHow do I quickly separate an image's channels into grayscale layers? I'll need to do this frequently, so is there an automated way? If there isn't, can it be done with python scripting? Would it take me a long time to learn how to write such a script assuming I know a bit of Python (as used in Blender), but haven't done any scripting with GIMP?

Since I switched to Mavericks... premeire Pro CC has been corrupting my still images. I have imported them a dozen different ways to no avail. I have clean wiped my computer... ditched the CC suite and redownloaded it. Nothing works to correct the issue. I even bought a solid state HD and upgraded my graphics card.
What is happening is half of the pictures information is lost. Each picture has a slightly different corruption but I can see the image fine if I scrub through my timeline. Its only when I hit play or pause over the clip that I see the corruption.

So, I have used Gimp to downsize large architectural drawing images from Tiff's to jpgs. Well, I always thought I was downsizing them. In the past, the process always seemed to make the files more usable in the application where I need to use the architectural drawings without a significant loss in quality.
I will open a tiff in Gimp, save as jpg, export if prompted, then select quality of 40 or 50 percent, and the result is a usable file that is significantly smaller than the source tiff file.Today, the source tiff which is 900 mb in size is being converted to jpg which is 6 or 7 mb in size, totally unusable.
Additionally, if I simply open the source in Gimp, save it to another directory from Gimp without making any changes, the file also grows to 6 or 7 mb. What am I doing wrong this morning that I have not been doing wrong for the last 6 months?
Using version 2.6.11 in Ubuntu 10.10 if that matters.I have a version of 2.7 on my Windows XP OS, and it will lock up trying to open these drawings.
It's curious, because, at 900 MB, I typically can use the drawings without even altering or downsizing them. What I really cannot understand is why Gimp is causing unaltered files to grow in size when saving them.
Using Extension 1, I am importing an RGB Uncompressed clip with 8 channels of audio with 7&8 a stereo pair. Only the first 6 come in correctly, the 7th channel has no audio and is not marked as a stereo channel. The 8th channel is not shown at all.
I tested the same clip in Flame 2012 and all 8 channels import correctly.
I have three different pictures in separate files, and I want to overlay them as red, green and blue channels in a new file. (the images represent the different color channels obtained from fluorescence microscopy, and I just want them back in one picture).
I guess it´s pretty easy, but I don´t manage to get all 3 pictures into 1 as 3 separate channels.
I don't even know if this is possible, but I have a logo that has two separate images in it, overlapping. I would like to separate the two images whole.

I have looked in Help and can find no reference to 'Stitch'. Does this procedure go under another name in PS?
Never used Photoshop before.
I have an image which contains 4 images in a PSD and want to extract them into seperate images so i can upload them to my website.
I guess this is very simple but i don't know which tool to uyse because there's too many
I'd also like to remove the text from within each image and save them as seperate png files
I'm trying to get an image to be the background on 30 odd seperate images. I keep getting things like "place" command not available when I use the batch. I can do everything manually but as soon as its automated it fails.

View 7 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to separate jpg files from a collection of RAW+JPG images after import? They were imported without checking the "treat raw + jpg files separately" box in preferences. Having worked with them, I would like to simply separate out the jpg sidecar files and quickly post the jpgs.
Is there a way to do this? I've tried changing preferences and re-importing from the combined image folder to another folder, but the resulting jpgs don't show up as files in Finder.
What are they used for? I have been using PS for around 3 years primarly for web design and I have never used channels outside of loading a selection. I searched for more info; I mostly got tutorials that use alpha channels, but no real explanation as to what they primarly do.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm basically trying to match the colour of the single jar shot to that of the jars in the colour reference file (the one with loads of jars), so it looks as if the single shot could be a closeup from the group shoot.
There's a batch of these single jar shots so I was looking for an adjustment I could do once and then apply uniformly to the rest.
My attempt was to create a series of adjustment layers that worked for one image and then apply that to the rest, but I couldn't come up with the correct combination of adjustments that matched the reference.
I'm confident with doing colour adjustments on the items inside the jar so you needn't worry about that, it's more the overall white balance / slight lessening of shadow underneath the shelves / shine of the glass jars / warmth and cleanliness of the picture's tone.
The single shots will cycle through as a GIF, so it's important to look as if it's just the content of the jars changing, rather than the entire shot - hence needing a single solution that was applicable to all pictures.
Ok gang my daughter as asked me to print of a image of her and her sisters - she's going to redraw over it with thick pencils.
My question is this, how do i or can i make four separate proportional images of the one big one for print of on A4, so it would be four quarters re assembled as the one big original?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently finished a catalog with 700+ images and I'd like to create an index for future use.
I would like to have an action which allows me to save a general purpose size image for e-mailing to customers as well as a thumbnail size image for photo invoices. This I could do normally by making two seperate actions for the two, but there is an issue with the categories of image types.
Within the catalog the images are of products, and thus are related to a brand. I would like to index the images into a brand based folder, and then into seperate folders for thumbnails and general use.
So essentially, the workflow would be something along the lines of
Create New Folder for Brand/ Category
Open Image
Resize for General Use
Save Image As... in Brand > General Use
Resize for Thumbnail
Save Image As... in Brand > Thumbnails
Close
Repeat for all images in category.
Create New Folder for new Brand Category
Open Image
.... Etc etc.
Also, is there a way to select a resizing of an image by it's longest/ shortest edge within an action/ droplet? I know Image Processor has this capability but it seems strange there is no ability within an action.
I have just switched from PS CS5 to CC. Under CS5, the default for opening multiple images put them in separate windows. Under CC, the default appears to be to put them in separate tabs and one must select separate windows from the Window Arrange sub menu. How can I restore the CS5 default. I prefer to always open multiple images in separate windows.
View 2 Replies View Relatedis there any way to import photos and videos into seperate folders?
I use lightroom to manage my photos and videos, but the videos are much larger so I prefer they are stored in a different location.
I can import them together and drag the photos to a new folder, but this does not create the same folder heirarchy as importing them would.
Currently I import once for photos and onece for videos, but I'd prefer to just "import"

I'm new to GIMP. I want to use it to create/test colour (or greyscale) separations for a woodcut, but I'm finding it hard.
For example I have attached a black and white image. kirsty.JPG (84.7K)
Number of downloads: 3
I open the image in GIMP, then from Image I choose mode - indexed, 4 colours. So far so good as this gives me the 4 greyscale levels I need to create a two block woodcut. Now I use the 'select by colour' tool to find the first colour, and I paste this into a new layer. That works fine. Then I select the next colour and try to paste that into a second new layer, but it doesn't work. It produces another layer called 'Floating Selection (pasted layer)' and won't paste the second or third layers.
How can I separate the 4 layers into individual images??
