How do you create a true black and white photo from an original color photo. i know you can select greyscale but that isn't a true black and white photo(i don't think).

I have checked the inks and have checked the printer. When copying somthing staight from the printer the colours are perfect. I have only had this problem since I installed the above. I'm doing some painting with a lot of layers set to different blend modes. I find that every time I want to paint on one of these layers, I have to go to that layer, set the opacity back to 100, change the blend mode back to "normal" sample the color, then change everything back and continue painting. I realize I can save a swatch for the color, but it can get confusing when you're using subtle color differences on multiple layers. It seems like there should be a modifier key to the tool that samples the layers "true" color discarding opacity and blend mode.

I work for a large fortune 500 company and the software is installed through a server which allocates the licenses. I dont know if there may be a bug in the program but maybe that has something to do with it.
Am trying to use millimeters for the first time. In model space, I set UNITS to millimeters. I draw a 5 unit line. No problem. I go to a layout tab and the viewport shows a 5" line, using a 1:1 scale. How do I make the viewport show a true 5mm line? If I choose inches as my units, the viewport scale is true 1:1 scale

When I plot to paper from TV2012, I'm good with monochrome - black lines, white background - awesome.
I would *like*, however, to plot a few things to PDF, but retain the view I have on my display - I.E., lines/labels of various colors and a BLACK background. I've been poking around for a bit, and if there's a way to make that setting, I'm no finding it. Everything I try has gotten me colored lines/labels on a white background.

The problem I met is at the galley.I could, or migh, only be able to get a 2-color printer at reasonably good price.
The original design is 4-color. But the actual detail is not very important.They are book covers, which only need to protect the book.
I have Photoshop Elements 10 which I work with sparingly. I would like to outline a section of the photo (a face) and somehow select it to be the whole photo - in other words to get rid of all background elements. I can outline the area with lasso, but do not know how to just save that area. When I save, the whole original photo is saved. I also tried the magic extractor, which really worked to make just the face and crop everthing else out, but it has a white background the same size as the original photo, which means it is essentially a reactangle with a face in it. I am trying to just get the face so I can paste it into a document, sort of like when people put heads on fake bodies. This is for a church newsletter. I have done this with my old Picture It software, but that was on my old computer. I think I should be able to do this with all the gadgets Photo Shop has, but I must be missing something.
