Photoshop :: Gradient Bands In CS3
Jul 8, 2009
I just created a very detailed technical illustration in CS3 and put in a gradient background going from a warm grey to a cool grey to make the image pop better. Upon taking the file file to my print guy, who will be printing this on an Epsom 9800, he said that bands are showing up on his nice Samsung 30" monitor within the gradient field that he warned will probably show up on the final print. An easy solution would be to simply eliminate the gradient but the illustration looks a lot more classy with it on. Plus, the 100 clients who have seen a simple small jpg preview file of what they are buying is the image with the gradient and they love it. The print guy is going to run a sample proof tomorrow to see if the bands show up so I am just doing some research to see if I need to do something now in case the resultant proof doesn't turn out well.

I have 10 equally sized layers in my document, each with a different image.
I would like to show a horizontal band (rectangle) from each layer. For example, I want Layer 1 to be visible from 0 in to 1 in., Layer 2 to be visible from 1 in. to 2 in., etc. Does anyone know easiest & least tedious way to do this?
I think this has something to do with masks...

Using digital photography to capture the image of a large poster printed with dot structure. Portions of the image have bands caused by the pattern of dots. Resizing and rotating doesn't reduce or eliminate.Â
What is the best way to remove these bands in Photoshop? Note: clone tool not satisfactory (causes fuzziness, blurring). Tried selecting the affected area(s) and using Gaussian Blur but bands are too wide. Same for Dust and Scratches.Â

Is it possible to create a gradient similar to radial gradient, except that the shape is other than circular? This image would be the starting point, but I would like the white part fading to black to be another shape (say, a rectangle, a banana, etc.).

I've been experiencing problems with the Gradient editor since I got PS and the problem is that whenever I create a gradient through the gradient editor and then load it, it does load it and instead just duplicates the ones that already exist.
Â
I save all gradients at:
Â
C:UsersRHAppDataRoamingAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS6PresetsGradients
Â
However it does (mostly) work when I import pre-made (from web) Gradients.
Â
I don't know why this happens but it also did the same thing when I had CS5.5!

Every now and then I open a model and the sections/profiles all solid white 'hatch' within the bands.
I have closed down and regenerated in the hope it has something to do with re-freshing the model, but no luck.

I have a problem to set more bands in section view.
Normaly I word with 3 bands (existing elevations, designed elevations and the distances between them), but now I need another 2 bands:
1) is the diference between the top surface of the coridor and the existing surface
2) is the diference between the bottom surface coridor and the existing surface
I want ot ask maybe there is a setting to not let me make more bands?
In fact I make the 2 more bands but the Civil 3D 2012 and 2013 is not giveing me the data in these bands.
I uplloaded a picture for example to be more clear.

I'm having difficulty adding bands to a profile view in Civil 3D 2013 in that the bands appear to be come corrupt in not showing the data (the check box to show is unselected, even if I set it to show) and when I go into the UI and turn the bands to show the bands don't show the information correctly.Â
 Alignment align = profileView.AlignmentId.GetObject(OpenMode.ForRead) as Alignment;
Profile prof = profObjId.GetObject(OpenMode.ForRead) as Profile;
if (!profileView.IsWriteEnabled) profileView.UpgradeOpen();

I want to create video clips on top of my bands music. I load the music track just fine. Now I have 10 or so video clips that need to be inserted in certain places on the timeline to be sync'd with the music. But everytime you bring a clip into the video row it automatically locks to the last clip entered. Why can't you place the clips of the artists playing, in the correct place in the timeline? Also isn't there a way to display the audio track as a waveform?

I'm currently making a profile view where i want my features/objects to be shown in the bands for chain age elevation etc.
I have fences footpaths & vegetation lines that i can show in my profile view by 'projecting objects to profile view', but i was wondering if I could show these in the bands instead as it would be more convenient.
From what i can see in my bands I can label at Major Stations, Minor Stations, Horizontal Geometry Point, Vertical Geometry Point, Station Equation & Incremental Distance.
I've attached a picture showing what it currently looks like.

In order to have a data band at the bottom of my profile label the station and invert of my sewer pipe I just created a profile along the pipe and then have a data band in my profile that labels that profile. I have that profile style set to not plot so this way I can leave it on all the time. This is all fine and well. I have labels every 100' that label the station and invert elevation but at times I want to label miscellaneous locations along my pipe such as a bend or something. How do I add an addition data band label to achieve this? Everything I have found only lets me have these labels at a specified increment set in the band style.

I am creating a data band for Finished Ground. I have created a Top surface from my corridor and have sampled that as well as my original ground. I am trying to add data bands to an existing cross section view. When adding data bands for the cross section, I first go to the Section View Properties, add the data band, in this case, "FG Elevations", In the "Section1" column, I pick the Corridor surface that was sampled.
The data band does not display data. I know the data band works, because I picked the original ground as the "Section1" and it gave me the elevation.
I have noticed that under the "Sections" tab of the Section View Properties, and in the "Type" column, the original ground surface has a different symbol than the corridor surface. I have also noticed that if I have only the "Draw" boxes for the sampled corridor surfaces in the section view checked, nothing is drawn the section view. The corridor surfaces seem like they are not really there. Am I not able to retrieve data band data from a corridor surface?? If this is the case how do I go about making the corridor top surface something I can get data from?

We are doing a waterline, approximately 5 miles worth, and I was curious how to add the data bands to the minor stationing as well. Â We want to show EG elevations every 25' but so far I'm unable to find a way to make it show. The major stations are fine, I'm just not seeing the "switch" to get the minor ones on as well.

Civil 3D 2011:Â
I have 7 roads in my drawing and all of the profile data bands except one are correct. We first started with an overall profile with the EG created from a surface and the FG created by drawing in profile, then created multiple profile views. The only thing wrong with the one road profile is the data band is not showing the EG elevations. The strange thing is under Profile View Properties - Bands Tab, Profile 1 is set to EG and Profile 2 is set to FG, so it recognizes it is there and is also shown in the profile, however no elevations. I have tried recreating the multi profile views.  Attached is a screen shot to give you a visual.Â

I do know that tere is supposed to be an algorithm in C3D that will recognise when two geometry points are coincident on a profile view...that is, say a profile vertical geometry point happens to occur on a major station (for example).
I have never seen this actually work. When I have this situation, the labels stagger and I get two columns of identical data on my PV.
I know I can remove individual labels bY CTRL+select and eIther erase or turn visibility to false, but I would rather that C3D figured it out for me and removed the duplicate data.
Viideo link explains what I mean..

I have profiles in viewports were the data from the bands are shifting to a point above my bands. The profiles are correct in model space but not in paperspace, when I return to a layout tab. If I go into the viewport and regen then the data will temporarily go back to its correct location. If I switch between layouts the data shift. If I try to select the band data the pick point are above the bands, where they default to. This affect not one band but all bands associated with that profile;elevations, stations, pipe data. This wasn't an issue at first it just started happening to the drawing. The drawings were fine and I plotted out a check set to review and when I go back to fix a couple of things this started happening.Â
I have three profiles all set to 1:5. Two viewports are 1:500 and a third is 1:250, three different layouts. The 1:250 profile only affect the pipe data only and not the elev or the stations data. I have attached a screen shot showing the same profile in two viewports the left one shows the new default position of the band data and the right one is a regenerated viewport showing were the data should be.

I'm using C3D 2012. Â I created a profile view for a straight horizontal alignment. Â The band label for the horizontal won't appear for this particular straight aligment. Â I have a few other alignments that has curves in it and the profile view displays the labels fine.
I tried to create a new straight alignment again, create a profile view but I get the same results.I also tried it on a new drawing using the NCS metric template with same results.
I can think of (if this is a bug) is to extend my alignment by say 0.1m and add a new IP at the correct alignment end, mask that on plan and end my profile view to the right length.Â

When I am doing my plan and profiles I have come across a couple of instances where when I am ready to plot or just switching over to the layout tab that the bottom bands of my profile have shrunk. Is thereanything that i can do to stop this or to easily restore them back to normal size? Could this be a Civil 3D 2010 issue or more likely an issue with the template that we had built for our company.

I would like to copy the settings of Profile1 & Profile2 in bands from one ProfileView to another ProfilView.
I succeed to read Id (and name) for each ProfilViewBandItem form the source ProfileView, then I select the target ProfileView.
I open it in Write mode, and for each ProfileViewBandItem, I replace the Profile1Id and Profile2Id by good Id, but when I commit transaction nothing appears, the profilview is not updated, bands stay with their original settings.
How can I force the ProfileView to be updated after assigning new Id for Profile 1 & 2?

I have limited experience with AutoCAD, I am an ESRI GIS user. So here goes:
We are trying to use map image insert to insert a NAIP photo. The NAIP photo is in UTM meters. The existing AutoCAD Civil dwg is in state plane illinois wf. Everything I have read says all you have to do is go to map image insert, pick the tiff, my correlation source is a world file (.tfw), and BAM, your raster image should show up where it is supposed to. Well, it doesn't work. It appears that AutoCAD is not reprojecting the image to state plane feet. How can I get it to do this?
If we connect to the image, it reprojects it just fine. However, on every pan and zoom it is redrawing. We can't wait for the program to redraw all the time, it's too slow. So if we can figure out how to import it, it's a much faster option.
Another problem: the NAIP has 4 bands and the 4th band is an Alpha Band 1. This makes the image appear faded and white. In ArcMap you can simply uncheck the 4th band so the image looks normal again. Is there a way to do that in AutoCAD Map?

I have many section views of a road where I want to calculate ground volumes. I have a curb in a section view and I want that Civil showed me just an elevation at the top of the curb and at the top of the road cover. Is it possible to do that? And also distances: I want that Civil just show me a distance from the center of a road to a curb and from a curb to the edge of the road.

In Premiere CC, the photographs start distorting in bands of pink and green colours or something that looks like white noise. I think the media is not showing up fast enough or something. I have also seen this in the final export. I cannot finish my project if this is how it is going to turn out.

I have 2 different surfaces (Existing Ground & Proposed Pipe Invert) that I want to have the elevations shown for in a profile data band, but I want them to show at the design profile's PVIs (Proposed Road). Is it possible to set up a data band style that samples at one profile's geometry points but displays the elevations from these points from a different profile? My workaround is to set the data bands to all sample from the design profile first and label over the design profile's data band but I'm hoping for a cleaner solution. Attached is an image showing the profile view in question.

I have CS5. The bugs and broken features in AICS6, make it unusable in my workflow.
Â
I am specifically concerned about the inability to drag global color swatches from the color panel to Gradient stops in the Gradient Panel. I use this method to update a gradient color because I find it MUCH faster than option-dragging to duplicate a stop color, then deleting the unused stop. Since I do this constantly, I find using CS6 very tedious.
