Nov 14, 2008In PS CS3 I had set up something very useful on my Wacom tablet. I had two buttons mapped to two different actions. They would do the following:
1) Load tool preset for Dodge, 25px soft round, 10%, Highlights
2) Load tool preset for Burn, 25px soft round, 10%, Shadows
With PS CS4 this doesn't work because of the new "Protect Tones" checkbox. If Protect Tones is on, the tool preset will not change from "Highlights" to "Shadows" automatically. It just gets stuck on whatever it was on previously. To make matters worse, Protect Tones turns itself ON every time you switch from Dodge to Burn, even if you've saved a Tone Preset with Protect Tones turned off!

Jun 15, 2003I had finished working on a b&w photo when I saw an area that needed to be burned in. However I was unable to do it, I assume because a layer or something was in the way. Is there a way to do burning or dodging sort of after the fact or should I do that very early on when I begin to edit the original photo?

Apr 5, 2012I am wondering if it is necessary to fill an empty soft light layer with 50% neutral grey before dodging or burning with a black or white brush? Other than making the brush strokes more visible when viewing the layer by itself does filling the layer first with 50% neutral grey do anything else? If one was to have painted the same black and white brush strokes on an empty layer set to soft light would there be any difference?

Apr 22, 2013I've downloaded the trial for 3ds Max 2013 x64 to see whether it meets our requirements. I need to write a DirectX Shader Material using D3D10 syntax and features. The doc page [URL] ..... "You can use this material only when you are using the Direct3D Display driver and DirectX 9.0 or DirectX 10.0 is chosen as the Direct3D version." It says we can use D3D9 or D3D10 shaders.
However, I can't find any way of switching to D3D10 mode. There's no option to do so in the driver selection page or the options for the D3D driver. Even the supplied "default10.fx" shader doesn't work - loading it just produces error messages implying it's being compiled for D3D9 syntax.
How do I get this to work?
Illustrator :: Enable Overprint Preview In RGB Mode?
Sep 20, 2012I¨m working on a RGB document; it´s not going to be printed, but I need to simulate the overprint effect and also to use some "out of gammut" RGB colors that display very different on CMYK. I have the overpirnt preview checked; also, the objects I want to overprint have the Overprint Fill checked on the Attributes window. I even tried converting to spot colors, since I got the "In RGB documents, overprinting only affects spots colors" message. Still, no overprint preview.

Jun 21, 2012When I select "Test Before Burning" it doesn't test, but goes straight to burning (I burn at 4.0 speed)
Also, while burning the detailed progress display continues to say "Video/Audio Multiplexing" through the entire process until closing the disc.
I've installed both current patches as well.

Nov 13, 2013I'm now suddenly unable to use Full Screen Mode.I have a PC, and always would use the 'F' key to toggle between screen modes. But when I do this now, the screen just wobbles then stays in the standard screen mode. Even if I go to View --> Screenmode --> Full Screen Mode, the same thing happens.

Sep 19, 2012 I have recently installed Photoshop CS6 after previous happy experience with CS3. The software appears to be seizing up when editing a selection in quick mask mode (image or layer mask) under the following conditions:
- 64 bit mode
- image > screen size, especially at 100% maginification
- or image magnification adjusted whilst in quick mask
The red mask appears slowly and only where I move the mouse curser - but will not cover the entire masked area.The software freezes, and I have to kill the process from the OS. Task manager shows its status as 'running' and memory / CPU do not appear to be maxed out.

Photoshop :: Quick Mask Mode STOPPED WORKING?
Aug 1, 2005For some reason my quick mask mode stopped working. I can go into quick mask mode. I can highlight what I want to select. but when I exit out to make the changes I wanted to, the only thing selected is the outside edge of the image I'm working on. So instead of having the extent of the image and the part I highlighted selected (basically everything except what I colored in QMM) only the extent of the image is selected.
I have even uninstalled photoshop, re-booted, and re-installed photoshop and I still have the same problem.

Aug 31, 2013When I open Cs2 Illustrator up its already set to outline view. If I click preview or ctrl Y its goes to preview but only for a split second before going back. Even if I go to document setup It says that it's not in outline view. Is there any way I can permanently set it to preview mode?
