3ds Max :: How To Enable D3D10 Mode In 2013

Apr 22, 2013

I've downloaded the trial for 3ds Max 2013 x64 to see whether it meets our requirements. I need to write a DirectX Shader Material using D3D10 syntax and features. The doc page [URL] ..... "You can use this material only when you are using the Direct3D Display driver and DirectX 9.0 or DirectX 10.0 is chosen as the Direct3D version." It says we can use D3D9 or D3D10 shaders.

However, I can't find any way of switching to D3D10 mode. There's no option to do so in the driver selection page or the options for the D3D driver. Even the supplied "default10.fx" shader doesn't work - loading it just produces error messages implying it's being compiled for D3D9 syntax.

How do I get this to work?

Illustrator :: Enable Overprint Preview In RGB Mode?

Sep 20, 2012

I¨m working on a RGB document; it´s not going to be printed, but I need to simulate the overprint effect and also to use some "out of gammut" RGB colors that display very different on CMYK. I have the overpirnt preview checked; also, the objects I want to overprint have the Overprint Fill checked on the Attributes window. I even tried converting to spot colors, since I got the "In RGB documents, overprinting only affects spots colors" message. Still, no overprint preview.

Photoshop :: CS6 Updated To 13.0.3 On Retina Macbook Pro But No Retina Interface

Jan 4, 2013

I installed CS6 Design Standard (perpetual license) on my Retina 15 inch Macbook Pro (OS X 10.8.2) today.

Ran a couple of updates after the installation but no retina update for AI or PS among them. After a quick google search I read I had to manually update the Application Manager. Done that. Finds update for AI & PS. AI is now v. 16.0.3 and retina, PS is now v. 13.0.3 but NOT retina.Afterwards I downloaded the 13.0.3 patch but this didn't change anything.I uninstalled PS (+ removed preferences) with the Adobe Uninstaller. Reinstalled it and ran al updates, Application Manager finds 13.0.3 update again, runs the update and it is still not retina. It blows my mind how many steps, google searches, manual updates, patches it takes to update AI & PS "properly" and apparently it still does not work for PS.

Where is the setting to enable Single Drawing Compatibility Mode in 2013? It used to be under the system tab in the options and is not there in 2013. Is this option still available?

I want to open multiple drawings in the same AutoCAD window by double clicking a dwg file like I have always done. Is this still possible in 2013?

Edge Animate CC :: Retina Displays - Show The Retina Image When The Device Warrants?

I'm new to animation, but have recently taught myself Edge Animate.

How can I make sure everything works with devices that have Retina Displays?Do I set up two animations or is there some code I need to add to show the retina image when the device warrants? Should the retina images be 144ppi and the others be 72ppi?

Edge Animate CC :: Load 2x Retina Images On Retina Equipped IPads?

Jan 24, 2013

I've seen a number of ways to dynamically load the retina version of an image (with @2x appended to the filename), but none of them seem to work with Edge animations. I'm guessing this is because these solutions work within CSS and not within embedded javascript. Any method to dynamically load retina images based on the device?

Photoshop :: Installing CS5 On New Retina MBP?

Aug 24, 2012

I have a new Retina Macbook Pro and I want to install my version of CS5 on it, but since I don't have a disc drive, I've run into a few problems.

What I was able to do was copy the installation files onto a flash drive and start the installation that way, however, halfway through, the installation prompts me to insert a second disc, which I have, but I can't insert because...no disc drive. The second disc contains the Content (PDFs, Documentation, Fonts, etc.) so there's no direct way to prompt that installation. I tried putting this on a second flash drive and inserting it when "second disc" needs to be inserted, but this doesn't work. Do I need an external disc drive, or is there another way?

Photoshop :: CS6 Lags On Macbook Pro Retina 15?

Jun 16, 2013

So recently I bought a macbook pro retina 15' for mobility purposes and for the color quality. I've heard good things that come out of production on it to begin with but when I got my hands on photoshop cs6, nothing but brush lag ensues.

The issue often happens when I zoom in to do minor details or using a brush larger than 500 pixels. It's not productive to do a stroke and have the program take a while to recognize the stroke before it appears. I believe that being a Macbook Pro owner, I should have met the requirements. Also I do notice this problem occuring on other high-end non apple computers such as asus. I find it quite a joke and I do honestly believe it's on adobe's end. Even my old Hp pavillion runs photoshop cs5 just fine.

Photoshop :: Designing On The New Retina Update

Dec 11, 2012

I've updated to the latest version of Photoshop that finally gives us retina support.. it does look beautiful but is it about to make our life harder? I design for both web and print and decided to test it out.

I created a standard document 1024x768/72, i was given a tiny canvas on screen, definitely not the size it should be, my understanding is that if i save this and load it on non-retina it will be the correct size?

So, if i want to create the same document, but also the correct size on retina, what should the dimensions be? Do i simply double the pixels, increase the resolution? Am i going to be forced to save all graphics twice?

We're headed down a path that requires adding new steps to our work flow and i'm not quite sure what that is yet.

Photoshop :: Viewing Graphics On Mac Retina Display?

Aug 28, 2012

I want to make some graphics that will be viewed on the web. I understand that lower resolution displays will display graphics larger than higher resolution displays. My question is with regards to how the graphics will be displayed on a Retina display that has 326 pixels per inch. My understanding has always been that you design graphics based on 72ppi for web.

1. If I wanted to create graphics knowing that all of my users would have Retina displays, would I setup my .PSD files at 326ppi?
2. Will graphics and websites designed at 72ppi appear really small on a Retina display?.

Photoshop :: Make Leap To MacBook Pro With Retina?

Mar 4, 2013

I am a graphic designer looking to make the leap to a MacBook Pro with Retina. My question is this... Can you view/design in a mode or setting that is representative of a typical non-retina display? I occasionally work remotely and would not always have the option of a second display to preview graphics.

Can an accurate representation of designing for 1x be achieved with only the MacBook Pro with Retina (pixel perfect at 1x)? My impulse would be that it would all be a matter of how the file was set up but I have yet to find any definitive answer.

I often work from existing screenshots in Photoshop. Many times I will use an existing screenshot as a background layer and build new art on top for a quick mock up. Will this be possible?

Photoshop :: Will CS6 Be A Simple Upgrade For Retina Display

Jun 22, 2012

With all the hoop-la over Photoshop being able to work with a 1:1 native pixel operation at the Apple WWDC, I'm wondering if it will be available as a simple 'upgrade' to the existing Photoshop CS6 package or if there will be a separate app available for a premium upgrade price. I'm told that it's spectacular - running Photoshop in native Retina display mode - it might even convince me to my a MBP-Retina.

But I'm confused about the 'upgrade' path - I know that the capabilities have been announced but have read nothing about the upgrade - will it cost anything?

Photoshop :: CS4 (11.0.2) Constantly Crashing On Retina MacBook Pro?

Oct 2, 2012

Everytime I use Photoshop CS4 (11.0.2) on my MacBook Pro with Retina display (OS X 10.8.2, 2.6GHz Intel Core i7), the software randomly keeps on crashing without warning. There is no specific thing that I do that makes it crash. I just edit an image like I usually do on Photoshop such as moving objects, creating new layers, and clicking on different sets of tools and the program crashes.

I haven't done much work on it recently but I sometimes also had trouble saving Photoshop files. I don't remember exactly but whenever I save, a error message pops up and tells me that I cannot save the file; saving with a different file name works but I have to constantly make "file1.psd, file2.psd, file3.psd" to aviod the error message.

I haven't tried out my other CS4 Web Preimium softwares on my new MacBook yet and don't have the install disk for it right now since I forgot to bring it with me to study abroad so I can't try reinstalling it.

Photoshop :: Crop Tool Graphical Bug On Retina MBP?

Nov 8, 2013

I opened a 16 bit image. When using the crop tool in default mode (NOT classic) when the entire canvas is visible (so not zoomed in), I switched to the crop tool, click on the canvas to get the crop rectangle, then zoomed in more and more. At some point the image goes black, with bits of image showing through, and further zooming reveals a bunch of noisy colorful pixels.

This does not happen in 8 bit mode.

I've not yet had this happen ever on any non-retina computer.

It does not happen when you start already zoomed in somewhat.

It does not happen when the crop tool is set to Classic mode.

It does not happen in Windowed mode, only in Full Screen With Menu Bar mode (so press F once).

I can reproduce it.
