For some reason, I suddenly cannot move my text boxes while in the middle of a project. I get either the hand or arrow but I am not able to move it.
View 5 RepliesA colleague of mine has problems when moving a textbox.She grab the textbox with the mouse, the complete work area change to a white background, so she doesn't see, where she has to drop the mouse cursor. After she drop the mouse cursor, the background change to the graphic again.
The hardware she uses is new and included the following components:HP Z200 i7-870 Workstation2,93 GHz, 6 GB 1333MHz DDR3, ATI FirePro V3800 with 512MB RAM, Windows7 Prof 64bit
I am creating subway art and am creating various templates. I would like it so that when I have a text box with a 5 letter word, and I want to enter a longer word, they all fit and just kind of smush together rather than me having to fix the text boxes constantly.

the problem (which ONLY occours whit adobe products is
that when changeing my screen to laptop only the property boxes used fx; on layer/layer style/"blending options" appear (well they don't) outside the main window even though i placed them im my main window before changeing the screen setting.(from extended to normal).
most windows can be moved the the arrows or move function in the bottom bar, but how can i MOVE the pop-up property window and place it in the main (well, only) window ?

the "reset workspace" works fine on everything BUT the "Layer/layer style" -property boxes, and the whole prob. is that i only have 1 screen here at home.
Is there a way to have check boxes in the Project Properties to be able to turn on and off txt / stamps / etc. for all sheets in a project? I am looking for something that is similarly down in Revit Title Blocks?

with creating a new line in a text box on Photoshop Elements 4.0. I've tried everything -- lengthening the text box to no end, changing the text orientation, copying and pasting text rather than typing it in, just typing straight, pressing enter at the end of the line, and nothing works.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am getting these white "ghost" boxes with every copy, move or mirror command. They can be individually deleted but that takes too long. The more there are the slower each command takes, to the point a copy can take over a minute. If I save and close then when I reopen they are gone -- until I execute a command. This is unique to a single file I recieved from a friend using a PC based Autocad; I use Autocad for Mac. I had no trouble with his file until I did a "Save As" and used it as a base for a new file. Now, every file that is a copy of it, even any file in which I x-ref it, has the same problem. All of my original, older files are fine. There is simply too much work in these (now) five files to start over. See attached.

I've been experiencing a problem in PhotoShop CS4 in Vista where a text box will suddenly become much larger than it needs to be. Usually the text box will keep the original width I created it at, but will become extremely tall and the bottom will extend several inches below the actual image area.
This makes editing and moving text annoyingly difficult. It seems to happen after a text layer is copied/duplicated or moved to another document.
The document I'm working with was originally a Fireworks document, but it seems to happen even with text that was originally created in PhotoShop.
I am having trouble resizing text boxes with text in them, so that the text scales with the box.If I convert the text box the curves, it messes up the formatting when I add an outline to the curve because the text box itself is given a outline.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have hundreds of diagrams in Microsoft word that need importing to Indesign. I have imported the illustration part of the diagrams via Illustrator but i now need to bring in the diagrams' text labelling.
The diagrams have a lot of text labels which each appear in their own text box, but if I save the .doc as an rtf and import it into InDesign, it imports all my individual textboxes into 1 large textbox which I can't seem to separate them from.
If I select one of my labels in Indesign and copy and paste it, it is now a separate text box - great, but InDesign won't let me select multiple text boxes within it's large text box and it just is not feasible for me to be selecting each box individually to cut and paste it.
Edit: Each individual text box (within the large textbox they have been imported into) appears to have been anchored on import. If I release the anchor this does what I need in the same way as cutting and pasting, but again, indesign won't let me select more than one and it would take far too long to select each box individually to release it. So I guess I'm either asking for a different import methos, or a way to select multiple textboxes that have been imported into a single text box.
What are the blank gray screen with a box in the middle? Is a photo missing and if so how do I find the photo?

For example:
"Hello World"
And I want to change it into:
"Hello" "World"
And I will move them separately like:
"Hello" _______ "World"
or
"Hello"
_______ "World"
Recently Photoshop CS3 started acting up (after over a year installed). Toolbars and dialog boxes won't let me type into text boxes or select from most drop-down lists. This makes it completely unusable.
The textboxes and drop-down lists "lose focus" instantly after being clicked. This occurs even if no other applications are running.
For example in the Brush toolbar, when I click to open the Brush Mode dropdown, it opens, then immediately closes before I can even release the mouse button. However the Brush Size works fine (because it isn't really a dropdown, it opens another window). The Opacity textbox won't let me type, but the slider opens under it and operates normally.
Similarly in the Text toolbar, it is impossible to select a font or font style, but I *can* select one of the standard font sizes (because that is a different type of dropdown). But I can't type a specific size into the textbox! Same type of issues in the character/paragraph pallette.
To try to resolve this, I upgraded my computer from XP SP3 to Vista SP1. (To eliminate any possible "contamination", I reformatted the C drive, installed Vista & SP1 from CD, installed anti-virus, then reinstalled Photoshop and Lightroom from scratch - and NO other applications yet).
After all that, I still have the same probem under Vista! With no other programs installed.
My computer is an HP Intel Core2 Duo, 4GB RAM, nVidia 512MB 3D graphics card. (I upgraded the RAM from 2GB and the video card both under XP to see if they helped - before doing the Vista upgrade)
No other software has ever exhibited this problem - or any strange issues.
I'm completely unable to process photos for my photography business, and at my wit's end.
I'm using PS CS6 13.0.5 x64 on Snow Leopard (iMac 27" late 2012). I tried to change the text engine to Middle Eastern, but after I restart PS, the program is nearly non-responsive, and it takes forever to edit text. Changing it back to East Asian solves the problem, but then again, I want to use the Middle Eastern feature...
When I use Illustrator CS6 I don't have such problems (although I have to write backwards, since there is no support for right-to-left in Illustrator in my version)

View 6 Replies View RelatedRecently I renamed a folder that contained a Maya project. Here's a simple file structure to show what I mean:
I renamed this:
OLDname > mayaProject > scenes > Project01.ma
…to this:
NEWname > mayaProject > scenes > Project01.ma
The mayaProject (and all it's subfolders: scenes, assets, etc.) was created in Maya, and the OLDname folder was where I kept it and the other files related to the project.
After renaming that folder, when I double clicked the Project01.ma file to launch Maya, I received this error:
// Error: Wrong number of arguments on call to pv_performAction
When I relaunched Maya by its icon and used the File > Open Scene… option, I received this error:
// Error: Wrong number of arguments on call to performFileAction does not match number of parameters in procedure definition.
In both cases, Maya opened a blank Untitled file, instead of my Project01.ma file. When I changed the name of that folder back to OLDname, the Project01.ma file opened properly.
My question is, how can I rename or move this folder and still preserve the file hierarchy that Maya needs to open the Project01.ma file?
When I try and change the thickness or move most walls in the project I get multiple room volume warnings that pop up, in some cases 80 odd. These rooms in question can be on the opposite side of the building (60 Meters) and 3 or 4 stories up from the altered wall. So there is no way that all room volumes are overlapping. I've checked all the room volume heights, level placements and that rooms are all bound fine, which they are. I just can't figure it out.
I've figured out a work around but this can be a little time consuming and a little bit fiddly. Ideally I'd like Revit functioning properly and not have to keep reminding my team about the correct way to approach a wall change every time 80 new warnings pop up.
I have heard through the grapevine that this may be a bug that occurs in 2012 due to "internal disputes" we are unable to upgrade to later versions of Revit.
How do I go about creating text that curves in the middle a'la these examples -
