Feb 23, 2013I have two PSD files. In one file 11pt font looks very small, in the other file 6pt font looks huge! Both fonts are MPlantin. Both canvas and image sizes are the same. Why is this happening?
The reason I ask is I'm trying to get my font thickness just right when I print the file. The font keeps coming out too thick. I think this strange sizing this is a clue as to why.

VideoStudio :: Created Video Files Are Huge
Jan 8, 2013Shooting with Canon 5DmkII DSLR, which provides 1920x1080 .MOV files at 29.97 fps. Data rate on the files is about 45Mbps, with a total bit rate marginally higher.I have been asked to output .MOV at 29.97, 1920x1080 progressive with PhotoJPEG compression at 90%, square pixels.
In Proj. Properties, I seem to need Microsoft AVI (MPEG doesn't allow 1920x1080 option). No compression, and have obviously kept 29.97 fps. Whether I want to perform non-square pixel rendering at this point, and haven't yet found any info on whether the camera shoots square or non-square pixels. Or I want frame-based or upper or lower fields first. I haven't found any explanation of what this means in the product documentation.
I've created an output template to give 1920x1080 at 29.97 fps, 24-bit colour. Again don't know whether to pick frame-based or upper or lower field first. Using PhotoJPEG compression (100% seems the only setting available, but that's OK).
In the final Create dialogue box Options, there is another chance to render non-square pixels (I'm assuming "no" here since I want square), as well as a checkbox for Smart Render, but again no explanation as to why I would need it.
So I've been practicing with 10sec clips to see what happens. With the above settings, the creation takes a couple of minutes and I have been able to generate a huge 1.6GB output file. Play is somewhat jerky since I don't think my computer can keep up. The input files are e.g. 233MB for 44sec, or about 5.3 MB/sec. Am I wrong to expect the output to be about the same size? Curiously, I have been able to generate 50MB files for two of the videos, and the rendering only took a couple of seconds. Unfortunately I have not been able to repeat this, but rather get these 1.6-1.7GB files as the routine. I have tried different input files with the same result.

Feb 10, 2013I only want ONE cataglog. Today I installed and upgraded Lightroom from v. 3 to v. 4.3 which was OK.I wanted to upgrade my ONE and ONLY existing catalog keeping the same name.LR created a second catalog and added a - 2 to the name and it's a .ircat.
How can I return to having only ONE catalog and library?

Sep 2, 2011I have over 40,000 images in one catalog, which is by date, within month, within year (back to 2005). Example: Today's images are set to import into folder 2011/Sep/02. I realize this is crazy and I'd like to split my existing catalog into one for each year. I recognize that to find an image from a year in the past, I might have to load and look into multiple catalogs, but I think the ability to back up a catalog at the end of a year and create a new one will make backing up WAY more effective than having, as it were, "all the apples in one barrel."

Oct 14, 2013My latest battle with PSE11 is trying to access my catalog in PSE11 via the Catalog Manager but it doesn't show up in the list.
The catalog is named My Catalog 2 is located at C:ProgramDataAdobeElements OrganizerCatalogsMy Catalog 2. It is the only catalog I use and is the one that opens up when I launch Organizer. But, for the life of me, I can't get it to show up in the Catalog Manager. The only catalog that shows up is the original catalog which is at a different location and was created when I installed PSE11 on my new computer (Thinkpad W530, Windows 8). I've tried the Custom Location option and browsing to the location, but still no dice. This catalog has thousands of pictures and was converted from my previous PSE6 catalog. How do I get the Catalog Manager to find my current active catalog?
Lightroom :: 4.1 - Can't Import Catalog Created On MacBook Air To Windows Device
Jun 28, 2012I'm using LR4.1 on both devices.
I just bought a MacBook Air as my travel device. I have a Windows laptop that I use for everyday activities and processing. I just did a shoot and imported my RAW files into a brand new catalog on the MBA. I flagged picks and did some processing (both heavy processing and light processing) on the MBA. I saved Metadata to file, ejected the external hard drive from the MBA and then hooked it up to the Windows device.
Issue #1: I cannot open the new catalog created on the MBA on my Windows device. It just fails.
Issue #2: When I simply synchronize the drive to the Windows laptop, the files do come in and the processing that I did comes in too. However, the flags do not transport. And, any adjustments I did with the adjustment brush are not available for editing on the Windows laptor. (If I "reset" it does go back to the original RAW file, but before resetting, I have no access to the adjustement brush settings on the Windows device)

Mar 6, 2011I was recently trying to RECONNECT some files on my catalogs when I noticed I couldn't reconnect a couple of video files. The files were .WMV and when I looked at the thumbnail, I noticed that there where two thumbnails "stacked" with the same file name, but different lenghts of time. I found the original video file using explorer and noticed that the original file is as long as the two "thumbnails" put together. Now, it won't reconnect the thumbnails to the video file. Why did it "split" the video file in the first place? How could I reconnect it?

Jun 27, 2013Something just happened here. In the past, when I open any photo in Elements 10, the image would pretty much fill the space. the bottom edge of the picture would almost reach the bottom of the workspace...whether vertical or horizontal format. Then I would create a duplicate and hit either ctrl + 0 (zero) and the duplicate would be a nice large size. ( Double clicking on the little hand in the tool bar would also do the same trick).
Now , for some reason, the picture opens to maybe 60% of that size. It's way too small to work on comfortably. The duplicate is even smaller. When I hit the ctrl + 0 ...nothing happens size remains the same. If I pull on lower right hand corner to enlarge...it only enlarges the ruler and frame. Picture itself remains same small size. How can I get that back? I tried a system restore. that did not work.

Oct 9, 2013I have downloaded a stp file from a supplier, it has a main body and a couple of lids. I want to remove the lids so it shows what is inside but I can find a way of selecting the lid elements. Is this even possable with a stp file?

May 19, 2013I've used photoshop elements 10 ad it's worked fine on my other computers. I just purchased a new computer, same size monitor and I can barely read the font or text on it. I have 20/20 vision but the workspace is so small on this computer. I've tried changing the resolution on my screens and it's not changing photoshops screen at all. Jan 4, 2014I am using Photoshop elements 10 with windows 7 on my Toshiba laptop.
I am trying to make a slide show of photos for my brother's funeral. The photos will be shown on a screen at the church and on a TV monitor at home. I was used to Photoshop 4, but had purchased but not really used Photoshop Elements 10. I am about 1000 miles away from home so I cannot go back to try to using Photoshop 4 which is not on this laptop. I don't think I want to change (i.e. resample) the pixels, etc.
I have put into order all of the photos. However, the photos are of varying sizes. The photos taken digitally are fine. However, I have a lot of photos take a long time ago for like 3X3 or 2X3, i.e. like in the 50's - 90's, which were scanned. Then provided to me in a variety of ways. Coming to me they are small on the page. ie like in one corner. I am not trying to shrink these photos. I am trying to resize them larger. And probably get rid of most of the white background.
