I tried opening a RAW file from my Canon 70D in my Elements 11. It did not recognize it. I read Elements 12 can read it. Can I upgrade to 12 for free? If not how can I get my Elements 11 to open the RAW files?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a new MAC running 10.8 IOS and Lightroom 4.3. I also have a new Canon 5d Mark III. According to documentation Lightroom should recognize RAW files on the camera for download into Lightroom. But while I had success with only importing a single image amid multiple attempts, I cannot. Files are not recognized or cannot be converted to DMG for import. I took the card and put it into my old Rebel XT camera body, and it very slowly worked.
I have been using Lightroom with the old XT camera with no issues. Now I have a 1000 CF card and I can't get this to work from the camera. I have oredered a card reader which I have seen in other groups is supposed to solve this, but quite frankly: what the heck?
I just installed ACR 5.6 on my old Elements 7.0, hoping that it would allow me to upload RAW files from my Canon S100. I get a message saying something like "Cannot open file (filename.CR2) because it is the wrong type of file". Someone in another thread suggested that not all CR2 files are the same...that they're camera dependent. (It seems like they shouldn't be) Supposedly ACR 5.6 supports the Canon S90, which is 2 generations prior to the S100.

When I try to open an Nikon camera raw file (.NEF), I get the error message, "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file." Prior to a hard drive crash, I opened .NEF files using CS3 on my G4 frequently with no problems. I have reinstalled the software twice and tried importing the files from the camera using Bridge all with the same result.

I have a copy of CS4 installed on my computer. I would upgrade for CS6 (which seems to be the only solution at this point) but it's a costly endeavor.
I'm not very knowledge with Photoshop and in depth technology. I want to edit my photos in RAW, but I can't. I tried the DNG converter, and it did not recognize any files at all. I downloaded Camera Raw (the latest version as well as another one) and it said I needed Adobe Manager. I tried that as well but nothing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI purscahed PShop CS6 Upgrade a few days ago as an upgrade for the full CS4 Extended (which was upgraded to CS5 last year). I installed CS6 as an upgrade to the installed and registered CS5.
Neither Bridge CS6 nor Photoshop CS6 will read Canon Cr2 raw files, and the "About Photoshop" splash screen indicates my purchased CS6 is a Beta version.
Should I uninstall CS5 and CS6, reinstall CS4 and then apply the CS6 upgrade to CS4?
I cant use Raw with Elements 10 with a Canon C650D.

So I downloaded and installed the update for Camera Raw, and also downloaded and installed the associated DNG converter.
I am a professional photographer and educator. I have a client who just purchased a Canon G16. He has PSE 10, and he has contracted with me for some tutoring. I want to include editing G16 Raw images.
However, I wonder if PSE 10 can open G16 Raw images?My client's computer is not powerful enough to upgrade to PSE 12.
I understand that I can have him convert the Canon G16 Raw images to DNG's using the free Adobe converter and import those into PSE 10, but I was hoping that PSE 10 could use the new 8.2 Raw Converter from Adobe that includes the G16, so it could import the images directly.
I recently traded in my Canon T3i for a T4i, and now PS Elements 10 won't open the CR2 RAW files from this camera. According to "Help - Plug In" I have V 6.7, so I went to the Adobe site which said I needed V 7.1, which I download, and extracted, but it won't install it in the software; when I click on the extracted AdobePatchInstaller application, I get a message stating "Update Failed" and "this patch is not applicable for you". Also, when I click "Help-Updates" it tells me everything is up to date.

I can however import the raw file and then open it to view or edit it. Without the preview option, browsing for your photos is impossible.
