I was working with gradients and all was fine, then once more I attempted to use foreground to transparent it would not work.
I deleted the preference file, restarted PSE, restarted my machine - still doesn't work although foreground to background works.
I'm just wondering if there is a way to make something in the foreground so that you can see the background whatever it may be.
How I tried to do this was created a file with a transparent background and then added a new layer with 30% opacity and then typed the text I wanted you to be able to see through, but when I save it as a png it just makes the background white and as a gif it makes the entire image transparent so the text doesn't show up at all.
how to make the foreground color transparent for the life of me. In illustrator it is as simple as clicking a premade swatch that is transparent (other than that I dont know how to set it there either.) I mainly want it because I am trying to use the pen tool but a color keeps filling in between the lines.

When someone then right clicks and saves the image, all they get is the transparent foreground and not the photo underneath. I have tried to do this using GIMP. However, the web guidance I have seen says you also have to edit the HTML code to do this. Is there a way of doing this from GIMP itself without involving HTML code?

I'm trying to do a number of things with it, some of which are proving easier than others. The most difficult thing I want to do is remove all the buttons from the right hand side, so there are five buttons on the left and just background on the right.
How would be best to go about this? I have tried selecting individual sections and painting over them with a gradient fill, and I've tried using an automatic resynthesizer plugin using a selected texture, but neither have yielded good results. The former becomes obvious due to its uniformity when done in large doses and the latter just comes out all wrong.
I would like to know how to change the colour of a single layered, single coloured gradient (foreground to transparent) image. There is nothing more to it than that other than I don't want to use the hue/saturation adjustment as it's hard to get a specific colour.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe issue I run into is when I make a photo black and white and bring out a single color by selecting the areas of color with the magic selector. Once I have the colored area selected I either invert and turn the rest of the image black and white, or I will create a new duplicate layer and delete out the content in one layer and eventually merge the color and black and white layers to make my final image.
My problem is I always get a white gap between the colors and black and white images, or layers. I have tried to use the refine edge menu option, but this never solves the problem as the feather option, and move edge option do not cover the gap, they just move it.
I have resorted to using the healing brush to hide the line or merge the colored and black and white layers together. The issue with this is some times it is in a highly visible spot and the healing brush does not always make a great look. In other words you can tell that I merged two colors or images together.
I have also have this issue when I use the selection tool on images I blur certain portions of. It seems to happen any time I am using the selection toold and I assume there is a standard way of avoiding this.
I am using elements 11.
Run this simple test:
1. Open new gimp project. The background will be either the current foreground or background color. The point is it's ONE solid color.
2. Layer->Transparency->Add Alpha Channel
3. Edit->Clear The color is gone and it's a transparent layer. This is what I want to save.
4. File -> Save As (version 2.6)
5. Type in test.jpg
6. Open up test.jpg and you will see the transparent layer from step 3 has magically gone to white.
How do I prevent step 6 from happening?
And yes, same result on 2.8 (Windows)
Can I create transparent text in Elements 9? this is for a watermark on photos. According to one source I need to convert the type layer into a regular photoshop image layer by choosing Rasterize Layer from the layers palette, but I cannot find this option. Is there another method?

I have the shape. I select it. I seem to be able to make a mask from this (a selection which I can copy and move about). But what I can't figure out how is how to create a new image which is filled except for this masked area which is transparent
One of my requirements is to create .PNG files with transparent backgrounds incorporating imported images with backgrounds removed usung eraser and brush tools. Can this be done using Elements? If not, which product(s) from the Adobe suite will provide this functionality?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a private project to add some Swedish text to my artwork. I need this text to have a transparent background so my artwork shows through and be editable. I don't have a Swedish keyboard.
I have received the text as a word document but when I copy and paste onto a new layer I don't know how to successfully get rid of the white background, and for it to be editable (need to change where line breaks are).
I could retype the text myself within PSE as there are only four characters that are specific to the swedish language, can these be created and added to whatever font I select and then create shortcuts to use them where appropriate?
I am currently using PSE9.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have photoshop elements 7.0 and I am having difficulty making making a photo with a transparent background. According to the tutorials I watched, I am supposed to bring the desired photo which I do and can be seen on the right in the layers box dialogue. Then there I create a copy which is "unlocked" which shows up on my screen. Then, I select the brush tool and I select the areas of the photo which I wish to make transparent and then hit the letter "D" on my keyboard, or the delete button. Although the background is seen gone in the photo in my layers box, the background is still shown in my photo on my screen. The perforated lines are seen and although I keep pressing the D button it does not work.
