I have Photoshop Elements 8 and just recently it changed a bit. When on the active tab (any tab) the background outside my working space is completely black instead it's usual gray. I don't know how it happened but I would like it back to normal. I've attached my screenshot below.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy company is switching from ctb files to stb files. With the ctb file, we make concrete hatch with two layers. A top layer with the concrete hatch pattern and a background layer with a solid hatch patern. The ctb file concrete plots the concete hatch black and the solid background hatch light gray. I am using civil 3d 2013 and the hatch allows a seperate background color mask. I am trying to make all my concrete layers (Top of Curb, Curb Flowline, etc.) a certain color scheme, i.e. shades of green. I would like my on screen concrete hatch patern to be a green color with a gray background, but plot the concrete hatch black with a gray background. I can not figure out how to do this without making two layers. Is there a way to use one layer and utilize the background color mask to show on screen green and gray, but plot black and gray?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSince Edge only has rectangles and ellipses built in as available shapes, how to I/we work with polygon shapes and active mouseover areas INSIDE of these shapes and non-active mouseover areas OUTSIDE of the shapes?
Problem/symptom: when I import a polygon, be it any file format from from Photoshop or SVG from Illustrator, a rectangular border/background (transparent) gets applied, leading to this rectangle defining the mouseover area of the shape - and not the shape itself (be it a star or whatever).
WHAT I WANT: the very shape defines the mouseover area. How do I achieve this?? See examle below:

i use white, the same as PS. Never understood why use black, especially as it encourages the use of yellow to draw geometry....so do most ppl use black?

I was showing people how to right/click (Mac: control/click) on the default gray color and change it to black. About half of the participants didn't get this option when following my directions. I went to several laptops and tried it myself with no pop-up window offering "gray, black or custom".

If I have an image with say, for example three layers, and it's 100x100 pixels then I'll usually put a picture in there or whatever. What I want to know, and I've seen this done by other people, is how I delete a part of this picture completely?
What I mean is that if I have a picture up and I want to delete it so that when I post it on the internet I can see the background in that area. I've tried doing this but still I see nothing but the white background. I want to delete that area COMPLETELY.
Is anyone able to help me?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI already know how to remove backgrounds from images, and create a transparent background. However, I need to be able to use the resulting image in another program called Scratch. And as far as I know, it does not accept .tiff, .pgn, .psd or gifs.
How do I completely remove that background so that it doesn't show up white in other programs when I save it as a .jpeg?
I have some large collections of images: columns of 8 to 10 images across with as many as 40 to 60 rows. These are exported from a program called CatDV Pro. Between each row is gray space -- my problem is that I need to reduce that gray separator between the rows to make a better visual display and also to get it to fit on the page of the book. I have about 30 to 40 of these image collections to process.
Some things I cannot do: reduce the size of the gray separators in CatDV Pro -- not possible. It is only possible to export the entire page of images together. Sure I could export each individual image but that would be a garganuan task -- not practical.
I don't want to cut and paste indivdual images or rows. Sure, it's possible but not at all practical.
I have tried Content Aware Scaling and it is not uniform enough. Some rows squish before others. I know about protecting some area in Content Aware Scaling but that doesn't seem practical either, not with 40 rows. Maybe I'm missing something there.

View 6 Replies View RelatedToday, all of a sudden, two of my most used functions—holding down the space bar to move the image around and holding down CMD-space bar to zoom—just up and quit on me (I do like the "Scrubby" but it took a little getting used to. It's very touch screen-esque).
I did all of the normal trouble shooting such as deleting the prefs, relaunching, restarting, etc. Nothing. The functions work fine in the other CS5 programs.
I checked through all of the prefs thinking that perhaps I accidentally changed something but I couldn't find anything. If all else fails, I'll do an uninstall/reinstall but only as a last resort.
I did notice that Adobe finally fixed the Distort (in Full Screen Mode) bug that was killing me in CS4.
[URL] Bug is where the Hand move (by holding down Space bar and dragging) stops working. Issue appears to be a conflict with web browsers.
This bug is still present in Photoshop version 12.1 (CS 5). I don't use Firefox, I use Safari and Chrome. Quitting Safari did not fix the problem. Quitting Chrome DID fix the problem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am a Paramedic Instructor and want to clean up some heart rhythms to make them more neat and presentable for use during class. Below is the sort of image I would be working with.
What I would like to do is remove only the black and gray lines (when they print out of the EKG machine some lines have some gray in them) and place them on a neater cleaner background as below
(The image above I found on a website where the creator has 100's of EKGs that this has been done with, but have been unable to get him to tell me how it was done)
Also let me know if another Adobe product would be more useful in this situation. I have CS6 Master Collection so you know what programs I have available to use.
Gray / black halo around feathered transparency objects. The halo occurs where the solid area of pic feathers to the transparent.
NOTE: Image looks fine in Photoshop(CS6) but when placed in Indesign (CS5) a black halo appears on page
This only happens when image is an RGB Tiff and layer mask is used to create transparency. If image is saved as .psd then it is fine. Also when RGB tiff is converted to CMYK then this is also ok.
Ideally I could just start using psd format, but I have to handle a lot of images that are already in RGB tiff and it is time consuming to have to open and re-save all of these.
Photoshop CS5 RGB tiffs are still working fine.
