Photoshop Elements :: 8 - Dialogue / Value Windows Appear BLACK By Default
Apr 12, 2013
I'm running PSE 8 on an iMac. Is there a way to change the default dialogue / value windows to white or transparent? I'm also seeking a plug in to enable Channel manipulation in PSE. Many degraded graphics arise from problems in the green or blue channel which compromises the final RGB image.
PSE 10 isn't shown as an option in windows 8 "set your default programs". Selecting individual file types doesn't work for me much when, apart from .jpgs and .tiffs, I don't know all the file types PSE 10 can open and I want it to open everything it can. I do not want Windows 8 opening my stuff.
When I open "Image>Image size" for example, the dialogue window that opens appear half way off-screen, and I can't access it. The only way for me to close it is to use the Esc button.
Every time I open one of theese windows, they wander off a couple of pixels, until they can't be reached. Sure, I can try to reset their position manually each time I use them, but that's not how it's supposed to be.
I need a way to reset all windows positions. The workspace options doesn't seem to include the dialogue windows, so that's no use.
if i try and to open a new file or save as a current file, the windows box does not open. the command line does populate asking for file name, etc, but obviously is very tedious to navigate windows folders with a command line!
any obvious changes that would prevent windows folder dialogue box not to open?
When I import an eps, or create a new object with a shape tool. The default style is a clear fill and a hairline CYMK black (0,0,0,100) outline. I think I know how to change it to true black (0,0,0,0), but when i import an eps or an illustrator file, it is coming in as CMYK black (0,0,0,100)
I have two PC's side-by-side, running the same version of CS6. On one PC, I can see my Libraries from the "save as" and "open" dialogue boxes and on the other I have can't have have to dig down to find the folders I want to save to. I don't have any plug-ins installed, and I have not edited the registry.
I have looked everywhere around the net to find some info about the Camera Raw preferences dialogue box in Elements 11 and what the settings mean/change. All I can find is 'Preferences - allows you to change the Camera Raw preferences'. There must be a reason for having a preferences dialogue icon/window in Camera Raw, the button is right up there next to the rotate buttons.
I scanned a black and white print in color and am trying to replace all the black with dark green. Been trying for hours in elements 9. This is all so hard. Just to ask this question I have typed it into 3 different screens, set screenname, many other hurdles.
I have a problem with Adobe Bridge opening files in PS 64 bit instead of my prefered 32 version.I took the "Typical"install when I installed Photoshop and I suppose that's why 64 is the default.
Any hints for making 32 the default before I go playing with registry settings?
all of my raw colors pictures default to black and white when I import them into Photoshop. The same phenomenon occurs in Light Room. I'm sure it's a setting, I even found a way to delete my preferences file without success.
Trying to run the default vignette action, I get a message that "feathering is not currently available." I'm wondering why I'm getting the error message and how to fix it.
When I use adobe photoshop, when I perform an action, for example, magic wand, the whole adobe screen goes black, then goes back on. I have a new, fast computer with lots of memory, Window 8.
I recently upgraded from CS6 to CC. When I open a psd file, it opens at 100%, but the window is small with scroll bars. I have plenty of screen real estate, so that's not the problem. I have looked everywhere and can't find how to make the default 100% showing the entire image.
I recently upgraded to Windows 8 Pro from Windows 7 and I have noticed some graphic glitches in CS6. The background flickering, the image becoming black, etc. After a bit a searching I found some others who were also having the issue. (Here and Here). I have also read the blog post by Jeffrey Tranberry recommending switching to Basic Drawing Mode which does solve the issue, however, by switching to Basic Drawing Mode what am I losing in functionality?
When looking through the PS Preferences I also noticed something interesting. Look at this screenshot: Notice the VRAM? 209310MB! This is one fast video card! Obviously this number is complete incorrect and I wonder if it is tied to the issue above?
Here are my PC Specs: CPU: AMD FX 4100 Quad Core 3.6 Ghz 64bit OS: Windows 8 Pro (Release version - upgraded from Windows 7) RAM: 8GB Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 6670 Video Driver: Catalyst 12.10 (Windows 8 compatible driver) Is this a PS issue or an issue within the video card driver and Windows 8? I have not seen other errors in Windows with other programs. (Granted other programs are not using the GPU like PS does.)
Photoshop is acting wonky now that i've installed windows 8. i had to upgrade my video drivers, amd radeon 5700 series. now when editing photos, the background goes black or transparent.
Photoshop CC is not among the programs listed and Windows won't let me add it to the list. Oddly, Illustrator CC is listed. How do I rectify this? I have Photoshop CS6 installed and that is listed. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate.
I have just switched from PS CS5 to CC. Under CS5, the default for opening multiple images put them in separate windows. Under CC, the default appears to be to put them in separate tabs and one must select separate windows from the Window Arrange sub menu. How can I restore the CS5 default. I prefer to always open multiple images in separate windows.
Group, I just got CS4 and I am working in RGB and when I hit D to set default colors the black is not black... It is a dark grey. Basically the same if you take something that is black in a CMYK document and paste it into an RGB document. The black becomes gray. Can't figure out what color setting to change to set blacks as "Rich Black." Under Edit - Preferences - Appearance of black, it is set to Rich Black.
Whenever I import photos now (LR4), they auto preset to black and white on 'Treatment' on the develop tab rather than 'Color'. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program hoping to get rid of preferences but it continues to do so.
In 2.6 Gimp used to save to my windows Pictures directory. Now in 2.8 the default export directory is Documents, which I find a bit annoying. Can I change this behaviour?
LR4 will not appear in Windows 7 default programs and access as a default program to choose. Microsoft says it is becasue it does not appear in the Windows registry and to contact the manufacturer. How do I get LR4 registered in Windows 7? If I have to reinstall what do I need to do to protect my file structures, etc.?
When I try to make LR the default program for these files (left-clicking> set default program> browse> select LR), it is like it doesn't go through. LR still does not show up as the default program. I have been using LR for awhile now and loved it until this odd glitch. Is there a way to uninstall the last update?
When I make my text red (standard CMYK red) on a black background, it looks rasterized. (See image below)
I tried using different standard fonts, but result is the same. Aslo when I export it for high quality printing, the resulting pdf document also show the red text somewhat rasterized. (Does not appear smooth red).
The instructions say <<< In the Background panel, select the Background Color option and click the color swatch to choose the color. >>> But I can't seem to find any way of changing the background colour from the default, white. ! (I want black.)
