I have an existing Sprite .png file. There are a bunch of images contained in the Sprite and I want to change the color of one image on the sheet. I don't have the layered PSD.

way to use the slice tool? So it like wraps around anything that has color, kind of like using star wand and then selecting inverse, but with the slice tool. Because I have a sprite sheet with a transparent background, and it has to have 200+ sprites and it would be much easier if there was some sort of way to do this.

Photoshop :: Colorizing Black?

Apr 16, 2007

way to colorize or replace black with a specific color without losing shades and highlights?

Say for example I would like to change a black car into a different color.

To replace a color, I'm aware that I can:

1) Use the HUE/SATURATION dialog box

2) Use the "Color" layer mode

3) Use Replace Color

4) Etc.

But I cant seem to figure out how to replace black.
I read somewhere that Black is not color but a tone. And that i need a color to replace a color.

Photoshop :: Colorizing Grayscale Image

Nov 11, 2006

I have a creative director who loves to bring grayscale tiffs into quark xpress, set the color of the tiff to one color and then select the image background "box" and set it to another color.

The result is visually ok, but it all has to be recreated in photoshop to print well. I have been using photoshop for years, and a duotone is not the answer, at least with the curves i have played around with.

What is the best way to recreate this effect in photoshop?

Photoshop :: Colorizing A Grayscale Image Along A Spectrum

Nov 23, 2007

I have a grayscale image that I want to apply color to. I know how to do that by just colorizing it, but instead, I want to apply a color for the whole document. I know how to do this if I want it to be, say, blue (where black is 100 percent of my blue and 50% gray is 50% of my blue, etc.). But, what if I want a unique gradient across the image (where 100% is blue, 50% is 50% red, 10% is yellow, etc.)? How would I do that?

GIMP :: Transparency For A Sprite Sheet

Dec 21, 2013

I have a PNG of sprites similar to this:

[URL].........

I want to change the background color to a transparent one. I've tried using Color to Alpha but that makes the sprites themselves partially transparent which is not what I want. My second attempt was to use the fuzzy select tool to select all of the white bits and remove them. This doesn't really work either because on a non white background each of the sprites has a few whitish pixels around it's edge. So what I really want is a combination of the two, i.e. all of the white pixels are made completely transparent, and the whitish pixels on the edge of each sprite are made partially transparent, but the sprites themselves remain opaque.

GIMP :: Colorizing Photos With Sheer Components

Mar 14, 2013

I've been playing around with colorizing black and white images, and it's mostly fine. Where I come in to problems, however, is when encountering a situation where something of one colour can be seen through something of another colour. For example:

This is very much the beginning of a rough draft, so I've not bothered being too precise with where I've coloured as yet, but I hope you can see the issue - the floor looks fine, the dress looks fine, but where you can see the floor through the dress, it doesn't look right at all.

At the moment, this is done by creating a separate layer for each colour, and setting that layer to "Overlay", but it doesn't matter what layer mode I use, I still encounter problems. Is there some technique I'm missing? I've tried playing around with the colours of the specific things - so, for example, changing the colour of the floor where it can be seen through the dress, but leaving it as it is elsewhere - but I've not found anything that produces satisfactory results, as yet.

Another related question is how is best to colorize photos like this. The method I usually use is to create a separate layer for each colour and then use a brush/eraser to paint in the part of the image I want coloured. I've seen tutorials, however, which say that you should fill a layer completely with colour and then use a mask to let only the bits you want to show through be visible. Is there any advantage to doing that? As far as I can tell, it achieves the same result, except that you can't then use Hue/Saturation to adjust the colour after the fact.

(I am familiar with how to make a new gradient and how to change the colors in a saved gradient via the gradient dialogue. But for the life of me, I can't see how to access an existing gradient on an image and change only this one parameter.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Create All New Existing Surface Over Existing Ground

Sep 28, 2012

I'm trying to create an all new existing surface over existing ground. I have a TIN surface of the EG, and I have drawn overlay splines that describe the new surface, but how to go about creating that design surface.

It is a compound surface, open on one end and closed all around on the other, somewhat like a half of a football stadium, but with an irregular upper edge because I am needing to figure out cuts and fills to manipulate the EG into this new surface without costly major terraforming. There is about 40-50' vertical elevation between the "field" and the upper rim with a generally constant 7-10 deg. slope all around. I'm just at a loss to figure out how to approach this project, and am quite new to Civil 3D.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Composite Surface Of Existing Surveyed Contours As TIN Pasted Into Existing Aerial Contours

Nov 15, 2012

Some background: We have a composite surface of existing surveyed contours as a TIN pasted into existing aerial contours that we received from a client.  We used polylines to generate our proposed contours, and then generated a proposed surface from that.  We've made a blank surface, pasted in the existing surface, and are trying to paste in our proposed surface...  only the existing contours outside of the proposed suface no longer line up correctly once we do.

We've tried applying the method laid out here: [URL] ........ (and the link referenced in the bottom) but are still having trouble getting the surface to work.  We've tried offsetting as little as 0.25' and as much as 5' with the feature line draped over the existing surface, but it seemed that the greater the offset, the greater the discrepancy.

Just to make sure we even tried that correctly - should the breaklines that we add be standard or non-destructive?  (I've tried it both ways with little success either way, so I don't know if it matters much in this instance, but perhaps for future reference it would work.)

I've attached a screen shot of our surfaces.  The pink and green lines are the proposed contours, the white dashed are the existing.  The outer red line is offset 0.25'.  As I've mentioned, we've tried offsetting various amounts with decreasing success.

Photoshop :: CS3 - Use Existing Image As An Alpha

I have 2 x *.dds files. One is a default model texture (with no alpha channel) and the other is a lightmap, which has different visible graphics to that of the texture file. However, the alpha channel of the lightmap uses the texture file detail.

My question, as I need to recreate these from scratch, how do I import an existing image to another existing image and use it as a alpha channel. So far each time i have tried the original information is overwritten.

Here's a screengrab of what I'm trying to achieve. To recap, I'm trying to use image 1 as an alpha channel in image 2 (as shown)...

Photoshop :: Updating Existing Web Page

Feb 23, 2009

I have an existing web page that I would like to keep updating by adding new hyperlinks. I have built the page in Photoshop and "Save for Web" to MS Frontpage. The page will eventually have 36 slices in it so I can add hyperlinks to it.

My problem is that when I unhide a layer (for my new hyperlink) in Photoshop and resave for web into Frontpage, I have to add all of the hyperlinks again. If I add a new hyperlink each week, by the time I get to 36 weeks I will be tired of adding all of those hyperlinks each time I add one. Any ideas? I think the answer lies in the ImageReady part of Photoshop, but I'm not sure how to accomplish it.

Photoshop :: Editing Existing Mask With Pen Tool In CS6

May 9, 2013

Here's my question re: editing an exisiting mask in CS6.

So, say I create the basic selection with the quick selection wand - for this example, maybe a selection of a horse.

But, if I don't get the area between the horses legs and want to select that area with the pen tool then delete it from the exisitng mask (i.e. clean up the mask with the pen tool) how do I do it?

I've seen lots of tutorials that talk about adding selections together, but that doesn't work in this case because my secondary selection is within the original selection.

I know this can be done with the brush tool (cleaning up masks) but I'd like to do it with the pen tool because the results are better.
