Aug 25, 2012WIndows 7 x64 | PS CS6. Just now while attempting to edit a Channel Mixer adjustment layer's creation dialogue settings, about 15 browser windows (not tabs but individual windows) trying to load Adobe docs all popped opened simultaneously.Killed Firefox's process and went back to PS.Every time I went back to PS though, it would happen again, when I clicked in the Channel Mixer settings.
Got out of the loop by mashing the ESC button as I switched back to PS, which successfully killed the Channel Mixer dialogue.I've seen this behavior in PS for about 4 versions now, but never this severe. How dysfunctional.

Photoshop CS4 Extended as part of the master suite.
I have also CS3 on the same PC.
Now the channel mixer doesn't show the sliders for tint (hue and saturation); the same happens on the B & W adjustment window.
I try to run CS3 (shortcuts or the program itself), CS4 comes up instead.

Sep 11, 2012When I'm doing RGB retouch I'm often converting the image to CMYK just to use the Channel Mixer in that mode. I can never seem to get the hang of channel mixer in RGB to the same result, I guess I just understand CMYK plates better.
Is there any way of seeing the CMYK slider in RGB mode?

Jun 9, 2013I have converted the same image from color to black and white using the channel mixer and using the black and white adjustment, and there appears to be a slight, almost imperceptible, loss of sharpness in the image converted with the channel mixer. Is there any research showing that a loss of sharpness will, in fact, occur when using using channel mixer when converting color images to black and white?

Jun 1, 2012I'm comparing the CS5 & CS6 mixer brush, with moist, light mix, right now...At first I wondered why the CS6 mixer brush was slower, until I realized that it looks like the actual brush stroke in CS6 is more advanced. The CS6 stroke looks like it's calculating the overlapping brush strokes & it's interaction with the texture more accurately to real life.
I haven't read any articles on improvements to the CS6 mixer brush. Has it actually improved or are my settings just different in CS6 from CS5? since I'll probably need to work with "Sample All Layers" unchecked when working with the CS6 mixer brush.

Jul 26, 2013I am a screen printer and I print my separations from Photoshop. I routinely work with multi channel files or RGB files with additional spot color channels. I have created actions to place my registration marks, re-size images, etc to get ready to print but I manually have to create the text labels for each screen if they are missing from the original artwork.
The files I work with have channels named as "Base White, Red, Green, 284 Blue" etc indicating the ink color. What i would like to be able to do is click an action that would copy the text from the channel name and insert it into a separate or each/all channels near the top of the file so that when I print each positive it has a corresponding label for ink color.
I am not sure if this is even possible, and I am limited on my knowledge when it comes to actions and have pretty much got lucky in the past getting them to do what I want without unnecessary steps.
On my registration target action it creates a new channel with each individual reg mark then combines them into one separate channel in which I just copy the contents and select all the ink channels and fill with black to make them appear, i'm happy with the steps it takes as it isn't too much trouble and if this could do the same with labels I would be happy with that.

i have photoshop set to: use graphics acceleration, drawing mode advanced, opencl. When I'm using the mixer brush and with the brush set to sample all layers, depending on brush size, I experience a large lag in rendering. When doing this, my CPU usage is around 10% and disk usage is also low so I'm assuming the graphics card is the bottleneck here.
Images are from a 21MP canon 5dMK II, 8 bit files. I can replicate the problem with a single background layer and mixing/smudging on a 2nd transparent layer set to use all layers.

I was so disappointed with the amazing slow response when trying to use the Mixer Brushes; fine when using small files, suitable for web, but when working with larger files intended for large printing, it was painful!! Have the people at Adobe sorted the problem out with CS6?

Jan 12, 2013The CS6 mixer brush stops painting and turns into a hand icon, with only the index finger out, when I paint near the top left of my screen. It's about 3 inches from the left and 2 inches from the top.
I don't have this problem in CS5.5/CS5.1 or CS5 . what the hand icon with only index finger out is for? It's not the move tool icon. I should also add that I'm using Win7 and a Cintiq. and I should add that the standard brushes don't have this problem in CS6.

Feb 19, 2013why I'm having trouble with VSX5 Pro's "Sound Mixer?" It isn't working, and I don't know if my issue is one that has been reported already, or not. In my timeline (under 'voice track') I have an audio file which I separated from the main video file. The main video file is now 'muted' so that only my voice track plays the sounds. Note: I copied the same voice track and pasted 3 copies of it only to lengthen the overall playtime, but they are each on the same voice track.
The problem I'm having is that the volume adjustment settings don't work. After selecting the first segment on my voice track, I then move the slider up to maximum volume (from level 0 to 12), and then I right-click on it to save it as "default," but it ALWAYS jumps back to volume level zero (0)! It does the same thing even if I don't "right-click" and save it. The setting never stays where I want it to. What else can I do to increase the volume of the sounds on my 3 segments in my voice track, and have them stay at level 12?
EDITED: Also, is there some way I can save/export my "voice track" to an external sound file and/or convert it into a different sound format? I haven't seen a way to do that.

Jan 22, 2014I'm contemplating purchasing a Mackie MCU to automate some of the volume edits I have to make using 5 tracks in the Audio Clip Mixer over 80 hours of video. I've tried to contact Adobe support, but they are about as cluless as a bag of hammers. When I asked if the clip mixer works with a control surface (after 4 calls and 4 different agents) I was told no. Which is total BS as there is toggle in the clip mixer called "Toggle Control Surface Clip Mixer Mode". They read from scripts and have no clue what they are talking about. I guess I should not be surprised as its an outsourced call center staffed with drones who have never even used the software, much less in production! Adobe you should be ashamed of your support, it's appauling! (BTW I own an online Magazine in the 3d industry and will be writting an article about your appauling support soon)
Anyway, onto my specific questions:
1) The Mackie MCU has overlay cards for button mappings for many different apps, but PP is not one of them. What functionaliy is mapped to the control surface specially from PP and the clipmixer?
2) Is there a way to group channels so that keyframes can be written to multiple clips at the same time by using one fader?
3) In the clip mixer there is a keyframe toggle, does such a toggle translate to the control surface?
4) Sometimes I want to manually keyframe, rather thanan make adjustments while the playhead is moving, so I will simply click the fader slider to write a keyframe, manually move the playhead and then adjust the fader to write the subsequent keyframes. As faders on a control surface can not be pushed like a button, is there a way to generate a keyframe from the control surface?
5) Are there any known limitations using the control surface vs the software for both the clip and track mixers?

Sep 8, 2011When I am in the sound mixer and select for instance the music track, and want to drag the note symbol down toward the surround speakers, I have to hold the note with the mouse all the way of the entire music clip, otherwise, the symbol note returns slowly back to the center.
Is there any way to keep the note symbol fixed in the desire position without holding the mouse all the time of the entire music clip? I am using VS4.

I'm printing to an Epson R1800 printer.
Print. Choose Color Management. Choose Document. Choose "Photoshop manages color". Choose the correct printer profile that matches the paper I'm using. Choose Relative Colorimetric.
THEN, I click Print Settings...under the 4th drop downu I choose "Print setting..." again. Under "Basic" "color" and "Color settings" are grayed out as are some of the "Media Type" options.
Is this normal? The problem is my black and white prints are printing really badly. They have color tones. I've cleaned the nozzles on my Epson printer, done everything the print utility suggests. All the test prints look fine.

May 7, 2005i recieved a prom pic from my daughter and i was going to print it and frame it, but 2 things happend.
The first one was that when i tried to print it it said it was tooooooo big 40inx60in so i resized it to 8.5x11 and it got very blurry, after about an hour i figured out how to get it sharp again (by accident) and forgot how i did it DOH!!! It was some kind of compairson with 4 of the same photo and resizeing the file from 9.5M to about 400kb and actualy adding some blur.
The next problem is when i printed it, it was so washed out it looked like an old 70's poloroid but on screen it looks great. Now I've read the color settings section but i think i might have set some settings wrong [U]and i don't think i fully understand what i'm reading . I know there are settings to either let photoshop take care of the printing or let the printer.Personaly i think i would like to let photoshop do it that way any email's or photo's i shoot will have a common baseline. The printer i'm using is an hp psc 2410 and the camera is a minolta dimage7i, is this a good camera / printer. I'm in adobe rgb(1998) mode and i think i saw somwhere in the printer software to choose between adobe rgb or the hp printer.Do these have to match.

May 2, 2012I’m a long time Photoshop user but recently picked up LR4 to try to fine tune my workflow. I’ve noticed that after importing new files (RAW, I haven’t tried with jpg) into my library as I scroll through them (1-up, not in grid) the preview comes up and then after a second or so the WB changes to a much colder image.
Does LR4 initially preview at specific settings and then change to the individual image settings? Even if so, the final images seem very cool and I feel like I have to up the temp more than I should have to. My previous workflow was to sort in Bridge and then use ACR to import to Photoshop. I feel like I did much less tweaking of my WB this way. I feel like I’m starting from square one with LR4.

Sep 18, 2012What is the more usual image mode? I think my files have been 8 bits per channel for many years. I was having a lot of trouble with Photoshop slowing down dramatically on several large files I created, and I noticed I had made them in 16 bit mode. Would this require more RAM?
