I have installed PS CS6 and updated it to 7.2. I can see my images under Bridge file icons, but under PS file icons, the images are generic. What do I need to do in Photoshop? What does Bridge have that PS does not?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm using Illustrator 5.0 with MAC OS 10.8.4 and the Illustrator file icons are different than the actual file image. It's using the same image for 5 different files. THey all started out the same, but I edited them and then did a save as, but the file icon image didn't update. How can I fix this? I tried resaving the files and copying the files, but it didn't work.

View 6 Replies View Relatedi have been trying to create mac desktop icons using the "Photoshop PICT Resource File" and it works all right, but i lose any transparency one the image is saved.
I have tried using various icon programs (IconBuilder, etc) but they never seem to work for me.
Since i am on a Mac, standerd icon programs just dont cut it, because im looking to create high-quality icons like those found on Pixel Girl (a great resource for both Mac + Windows Icons).
I am far from a beginner, but i can't seem to find any tutuorials that apply to this topic.
I've installed my new windows CS6, all my .psd files have the 'generic icons' windows give to files they don't recognize. Everything else has normal icons (i.e. Illustrator files) but the Photoshop files are blank. This is true whether I'm on any type of viewer format, i.e. details, thumbnails.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using CS6 in Windows 7 64 (bit) - I've successfully used File Types Manager (freeware) to change file type icons (since the Windows file type editing has been removed). My problem is that JPEG, PNG, & GIF change in lockstep - (like you would expect all of a similar type - ex. JPG, JPEG, etc. to do). BMP and TIFF are not affected. Is it a Windows or Photoshop matter? (This was not a problem in Windows XP and CS.) I would just like to have the correct icon (provided in the Photoshop.exe file) associated with the various file types.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running PS CS6 on a new 27"imac. When saving documents in CS6, the majority of times no icon is saved only the file name when viewed from the finder. Around 10% of the documents saved will have an icon, the remainder will not. This is across the board with all file types. If I open up a document through CS6 I can see the file icon in the CS6 as I search, it's just through the finder that I can't.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just made myself another toolpalette, and the icons/images don't show up.Well, none of the icons/images show up except for the Junction Box (J with a circle around it.)I found that the Junction Box block is the only one that is NOT Annotative. All the other ones are ANNOTATIVE (as they should be.)
In Windows Explorer, it looks like images were saved for each new block I inserted into the toolpalette, but the images are blank except for the Junction Box of course. Is there a special way you have to put your Annotative blocks into a toolpalette so the icon/image shows up??

I just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7.
Not the ipt, idw, and iam file icons are difficult to distinguish between when your in a hurry.
There used to be more contrast and color between the different file types
Is there a setting for this somewhere in Inventor or Windows for this?

I seem to have lost my icons for Illustrator CS2 and InDesign CS2 files. The files show as a standard white "page" icon, instead of the program icon. Since I often have multiple Adobe file formats in one folder, it makes it difficult to distinguish which ones are Illustrator vs. InDesign. Oddly enough, Photoshop files and GoLive site files show their icons for files.
I read elsewhere online that this could be caused by a cleaning utility program such as CCleaner when "{GUID} folders are deleted from C:WindowsInstaller." However, I can't find the answer as to how to FIX it.
I have tried using Windows>Default Programs>Associate a file type or protocol with a program to check that Illustrator and InDesign are set as defaults to open the files. I found that the programs were set to shortcuts within the Adobe folder. I fixed that by deleting the shortcut and putting the actual program link as the source to open the program. (Actual program .exe file was located within Adobe Illustrator> Support Files>Contents>Windows.)
Also, I have the Adobe CS2 Suite installed under Program Files (x86).
When exporting DNG files as JPG the file icon doesn't show a complete picture. Perhaps 2 out of 25 files will be affected.

View 3 Replies View Relatedthis morning photoshop decided to play up and any new images that i try to open to edit, i get this message. 'Could not complete your request because the file was not found'. The same problem occours with all file types except .psd files. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling photoshop with no luck.
And incase its relavent, each time i click open the 'enable:' option is blank and 'Format:' is set to photoshop by default. With these settings all files in my finder and greyed out, so i change 'enable' to all readable documents which ungreys them. But when i open them, i get the message mentioned at the start.
storing and backing up large numbers of images? I need to accesses them on a regular basis and at reasonable speeds. This would be primarily Macs on a network. I need 3 terabytes of storage and an additional 3 of RAID or similar backup. For budgetary reasons the MAC X Serve is not an option.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble with editing RAW images from my Nikon D3000. I've downloaded the DNG Converter from Adobe and converted all my files to DNG. However, when I opened them on Photoshop Elements 4.0, they turned out VERY grainy! (Even though all the shots are clear when viewed on my camera)
Also, I could not save my files as JPG (After converting them to DNG). The only options were TIFF, PNG, JPF (?).
I'm doing a gif animation in PS and have five pictures that I need to have as layers on the top of each other. At the moment I'm opening them and copy-pasting them on one of the images to make layers, but this is slow and sometimes confusing with all the images open at the same time.
Is there any way to just tell Photoshop to open all the files so that they are automatically stacked on the top of each other as layers?
why the size on disk of uncompressed indexed color images is always slightly larger than you expect it to be? For example, a 100x100 pixel image, 4 bit indexed image with a 2 color palette: the file size should be 5,000 bytes (4 bits for each of 10,000 pixels) plus 6 extra for the two colors in the CLUT - i.e. 5006 bytes. Yet the actual size is 5,268 - not a figure that squares with any size of palette! Ditto a 200x200 image, 8 bit colour: 40,000 bytes. Plus a full 256 colour CLUT at 3 bytes each, an extra 768. total size 40,768. on disk it is 41,080 bytes - an extra 112 bytes.
This is on a PC - not a Mac 'resource fork' issue. Is there some additional header info that Photoshop attaches to indexed color images -
I've read that among the new functions Adobe added to the CS File Browser is the ability to sort selected images on a number of fields, for example date/time created, file size, image width, height, etc.
Question for CS users who use Batch...
Once images are selected and sorted in the desired sequence using the CS File Browser sort function, does this mean that when one invokes the Batch dialog (either from the FB menu or the File > Automate menu and Source=File Browser) the images will be batch processed in the sorted order?
In PS7 (and earlier versions) the order of batch processing has always been in alphabetical file name order.
When I scan old film to create digital files, I put them in a folder with the file name ending in a sequential number ( 1, 2, 3, etc). Sometimes, when I open the folder to work on the image files in Photoshop Elements 11, I find the files list in the proper sequential order, but other times, especially when I have recently had some files open, the files will be listed in the order that I last opened them. How can I force PSE 11 to always list them in numerical order upon opening the folder?

1) Some images are unedited and save sometimes but not always. Why?
2) Some are a combination of an original plus a transformed close-up from another image. When the finished edited image saves, it is much smaller than the few unedited images that did successfully save. Why?
The images are digital photos of my jewelry. In order to decrease the number of pages on my impending website, I am attempting to transfer, when one is available, a resized close-up to the other shot of the full set (close-ups are what sell the work!). Some of the images show 25% on the top bar but that doesn't seem to make a difference as to whether it will save or not. Others (I notice they seem to be more horizontal images) are 16.7% ? I tried to upload example images to illustrate what I am trying to do but kept getting an error message.
how can i view all of a 200mb tiff file of scanned images in Ps? "windows photo viewer" opens all 5 pages of the tiff file. Ps appears to only open the first page of images. how can i view all 5 pages of images in Ps.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to optimize some images for web to have a smaller file size. I am using "Save for Web" feature, and every time I try to save a file, the actual file output size is a lot bigger than the size it shows on the "Save for Web" dialog.
For example, I have a 607 bytes .gif, when I open "Save for Web" it shows 207 bytes for 16-colors but when I save it the output file is 1.22 kb.
I'm an animation intern working for an animator who does things old school.
She gives me hundreds of animation cells to scan using her scanner into photoshop CS(nothing), using the scan utility in photoshop. the result, as we are doing it, is hundreds of separate image files. i then copy and paste each of these image files into another custom sized file as separate layers.
i know there must be a way to automate this or do it with an action, but i cannot figure it out. if you think this isn't possible with photoshop CS(nothing) i have CS3 available to me on my personal laptop.
