Photoshop :: Coretion Over Large File (like 200mb And Even More)

Nov 29, 2002

when you need to make correction (level color) on really big file... something likes 200mb and more!

1) Open your image

2) Go to file size and reduce the size to a really smaller image (something like changing the resolution from 300 to 72) to get a much smaller file size, but make sure you still see some details.

3) Save this file over a new name (ex: LowFileName.psd)

Now we have a low-resolution version of our file, one that will be much easier and faster to work on.

Now here come the part where we will use a cool feature of Photoshop... Adjustment layers...

Make all your correction with adjustment layer, like lever, color, hue and saturation, until you like the results... you an also use mask.

4) When you like the results you will need to group all you adjustment layers...

5) Open you Original file

6) Drag all you adjustment layer over the original size

And voila, all you adjustment are over you Hi-Rez image!!! I you used mask you will need to adjust their size with Scaling!

Photoshop :: Advantages Of Storing Images In TIFF, TIFF LZW And TIFF JPEG?

Jul 5, 2004

I am cleaning up the Hard Drive on my Mac G4. My scanned images are taking a great portion of the 80 Gig drive. I finished clearing my external drive by removing nearly 60 gigs of images by storing them on DVD. I will do the same for the Mac drive.

My trouble is that all my images are stored in TIFF format which takes up enormous space no matter the storage. Since I output images in various sizes, mainly prints, to 30 x 40 inches, I need a master image archived in the best format for such. However, I do not want to fill my drives, or DVD, with large files. Code:

Photoshop Elements :: 12 - Save TIFF File With Extension TIFF Instead Of TIF

Dec 2, 2013

I am using PSE 12 as an external editor for Aperture.  When I ask to use an external photo editor, Aperture creates a .tiff file in my Aperture folder, launches PSE 12 and tells it to edit that .tiff file.  This all works great.  When I am done editing in PSE 12, I ask it to save the file and it saves it back to the original Aperture folder with a .tif extension.  I can instead say "save as" and then it suggests the file name with a .tif extension.  When I correct the extension to .tiff it warns me that I'm going to overwrite the file (exactly what I want!).  I say yes and then I find out that PSE did not overwrite the file, but wrote it as a .tif file anyway.  I have to go to the folder, delete the .tiff file and rename the .tif file to .tiff and then everything is fine - but what a hassle.

Photoshop Elements :: 8 - How To View Images By Scrolling Through Folder Of File Names

Dec 18, 2012

After taking a large batch of pictures, I want to place them in a folder and rapidly view the full images one at a time to select which to keep and which to discard.  IN PE-8 how can I display two panes - one pane containing the image file names contained in a folder and the other pane which displays the image of the file name selected?  Using the arrow keys, I want to move through image file names one at a time while displaying the image associated with the file name in the other pane.

Photoshop :: Correcting Scanned Images

Oct 2, 2013

After scanning a image that has a mostly white background, and opening it in Photoshop CC that portions of the edges had pinkish tones  that was quite noticible.  I tried to use the replace color from the "Image->adgustments" menu but found that affected small portions of the image as well.

How do I correct this so the background is white?  Is there a correction filter for scanners like there is for cameras?

Photoshop :: How To Clean Up B&W Scanned Images

Jul 20, 2013

I am on a Mac OS 10.5.8 with Adobe CS2, Acrobat 7.0 Professional, and Illustrator and Bridge.

I have a bunch of print-outs of old documents that came from a microfilm copy. I need to include them in a report, so I need to scan them in. I have tinkered with various settings (100 dpi - 300 dpi) and of course I would like to keep them small sized. At 300, one came in at 10 MB which is absurd.

My second problem is that part of the print-outs are really difficult to read--it's usually one section that has a lot of mid-tones. I can use levels and curves somewhat, but they seem to affect the whole document.

Photoshop :: Can't Import Scanned Images

Apr 16, 2012

I recently migrated from Windowx XP (32 bit) to Windows 7 (64bit). On the xp computer, I installed the driver for my epson V500 photo scanner, and when go to File--> Import, there is an option to import via espon scanner. However, in Window 7, with Photoshop CS4 64 bit installed, the installed scanner does not show up on the import menu.

I don't know how to get it to see the scanner as it does on my XP machine. I tried copying the photoshop plugins/import-export folder from the xp machine to photoshop (64)/plugind/import-export folder, but that didn't make a difference.

I really need the scanner to be visible inside photoshop.

I want to paste the images onto a background colour and don't want the white square around the shape on the background!

know if I can save the image like that in photoshop!

Photoshop :: Coloring Scanned Images

Jan 6, 2005

I have been photoshopping (Photoshop 7) for the past 9 months, and I'm fairly comfortable with the program. I use it mostly for art and drawing.

However, recently, I've run into a bit of a problem. You see, up until a month ago, I would scan a penciled drawing of mine in, add a layer over it, and trace it with the brush. It worked pretty well, never gave me any trouble accept for the large amounts of time it would take to trace everything with a mouse.

So, about a month ago I was looking for coloring tips, and I found that most people ink their drawings, scan them in, and somehow color it. I thought I had the answers, but I didn't.

I scanned an inked picture at 300 dpi with my Canon scanner (I don't know the exact model, but it was cheap, and I got what I paid for). I brought it into PS, and I tried using the magic wand tool (with a tolerance of 175) to pick up all the black ink.

I have scanned in a document and need to change it to digital art. Since I haven't been able to find a suitable font to match it exactly, I am thinking I'll have to do it by hand.

A sample of the text is below. Should I use the pen tool for this? Or some other tool? I would be glad if you could point me in the right direction. As you can see, the document's blurry so I can't just use a marquee.

Photoshop :: Scanned Transparency Images In CS5 Extended Size?

Jul 20, 2012

I'm relatively new to photoshop and I have been searching for a simple answer to this question.

I'm working with images scanned from 35mm transparency film and black and white negatives. The average size when opened in photoshop is .88inches width x 1.297inches height at 2000 pixels/inch. I'll be putting these images on the web as well as printing some.

My question is:

Can I work with them as-is in photoshop and change the size later (for web, printing etc) or is there some general size I should change them too prior to working on them in photoshop CS5 extended?

I have scanned something in OS X Mavericks (10.9.0) using my Canon PIXMA MP280 and am attempting to add it to my main Lightroom catalog (LR 5.2) but am having issues. I have tried the following formats with the noted results:

.TIFF - Lightroom throws error "The file appears to be unsupported or damaged. (1)" .JPG - Lightroom does not show the file in the import dialog, thus does not even attempt to import it. .PNG - Imports ok.

The .TIFF and .JPG formats seem compeltely intact as they open without any issues in OS X Preview and Pixelmator.

Photoshop :: Unable To Load TIFF Images

Feb 10, 2012

Have developed a problem trying to load some TIF images into Photoshop. I have a large number of images archived over a decade or more. At this point it may some of the older files that exhibit the problem.

Now all these files were edited and stored using the Photoshop versions during the complete time period. The files are always saved with no compression. Have tried to load from Photoshop and clicking on the file in a file list. Photoshop just hangs and I get the message Program not responding. I can take these same files and load them into the ROXIO photo editor with no problem. Stranger yet is if I simply load the file into the ROXIO editor then "save as" back into the same folder (overwrite) the file can then be brought into Photoshop with no problem!

Photoshop Elements :: Scanned Photo File Names?

Oct 6, 2012

I have briefly used 3 versions of Photo Elements (9, 10 and11) and have experienced the same problem in all 3. Scanned images are labeled Image1.jpg, Image2-###.jpg, Image3-###.jpg and Image4-###.jpg. As you noticed, the first scanned image is ALWAYS NAMED IMAGE1.jpg.

Because this is happening on every scan, Elements is giving me the message that the first scanned image in each subsequent scan is already in the catalog (as Image1.jpg). All the remaining images in the scan are sequenced without any problem.

It appears as though Elements places all scanned photos into a temp location under AppData and then enters them into the catalog after the scan is complete. The file names in this temp folder are Image1, Image2, Image3, Image4. Image2-4 have their filenames changed, but Image1 doesn't.

The easiest way I have found to fix this is to rename Image1.jpg after each scan. I have looked around Elements and have no user available procedures to fix this.I am using an Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanner with Epson Scan software  3.83.

I am running Elements 11.
