I'm doing a gif animation in PS and have five pictures that I need to have as layers on the top of each other. At the moment I'm opening them and copy-pasting them on one of the images to make layers, but this is slow and sometimes confusing with all the images open at the same time.
Is there any way to just tell Photoshop to open all the files so that they are automatically stacked on the top of each other as layers?
I've created a collage using Microsoft Picture It! by cutting images out of photographs and layering them. Can I open this file in Photoshop Elements and be able to move the layered images around separately?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOur company does not have the funds to upgrade so we are stuck with CD12. I am using using a windows 7 /64 bit machine. I created this xml template for the writers to place place their graphics in our author software.
I have 4 layers on my file - grid.guide,desktop and template. The template has the instructions and size dimensions. I have them put all graphics on the high lited desktop layer then when this is complete turn off the template layer. One can print this file with just the graphics showing with no problem.
However if I export this a PNG file both the template and desktop layers show up even though I turned off all layers. I just want the desktop layer with the graphics to show up. I have been using Adobe Illustrator for several years and this doesn't present a problem when saving the graphic as a PNG file.
I am using CS6, as is the other user. When they open the file in Illustrator all the artwork is on one layer, even though the original file has numerous layers, and opens with these layers when I open it even now.I have never come across this problem before in all the years I have used Illustrator and have had no joy when trying to search for this problem.

I work on a Mac with three monitors. My primary monitor is in the middle. I often will drag images to one of the side monitors where they'll stay open while I'm working on other images. But Photoshop will open the next image I choose on the side monitors where I've got images open.
I want all new images to open on my primary monitor, always. Is there a way to define which monitor images will open on?
I have been using Photoshop CS and have found it very easy to use and navigate and was looking very forward to getting CS5.
Anyway, I have been stumbling around CS5 for a few days now and opened up a template I created in CS. This template had 2 main layers - 1) was the case or card holder and 2) was the colour of the card backs. These are then opened up in Flash as part of the slideshow.
Now, the case layer had a number of filters mainly the bevel and emboss which remained static as this was the case. The colour of the case needs to change to reflect the colour of the actual case. Another issue as well, is where is the little icon at the bottom of the Actions/History palette gone that allows you to change these filters? I cannot find the Bevel filter in the Filters menu.
how I can open the older psd files in CS5 complete with the layers (is this something that has been dropped) and also tell me where the filter button on the Actions/History palette has gone?
I have a large 300 M layered pdf file that when I attempt to open eventually pops up the "not enough memory (RAM) message.
I am on a windows XP Power Spec computer with 1.97 GB RAM I have allocated 1106 MB for memory useage, 12 history states and 8 cache level.
I have a 187 GB Seagate exterior harddrive as my main scratch disk and a mirrored main drive C with 154 GB of free space as my second scratch disk.
I also experience a canvas disapearance occasionally when using the polygonnal lasso tool. I can be clicking along and all of the sudden the image disapears until I click again. Annoying but not unworkable.

I have been doing some tests to minimize file size. I thought it strange that a layered RGB 16-bit PSD file (one Curves layer) is smaller than the same file when flattened. Is that normal? Should that be the case?

They both work independently just fine, the script file will open the all of the files fine... and the lisp is in the startup suite and works in all the files. But when I tell the script file to open the first drawing then run the lisp it hangs trying to open the next file after running the lisp. I have Filedia set to 0, but the message I get when it goes to open the next is "No canvas exists. click New Canvas." (And on top of that... Filedia even set back to 1 still does not display the Dialog box anymore, I have to shut down AutoCAD 2012 and start again then it works.) I Have tried several ways, Opening one at a time then run lisp, and open all files first and then try to run lisp (that closes the file after running) and try and run it again in the next... It will only run the lisp one time and then locks up from there.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a task that I repeat all the time, where I have about 20 digital photos that are all taken of something the same size, at the same magnification, but not centered identically. I then need similarly centered, identical size and shape cropped images for all of the images. In Photoshop, a friend with the exact same task solves this by opening all of the images, making a rectangular selection of the appropriate size and shape by eye on the first image, and then dragging this rectangular selection from this first image into each other open images and hand-positioning in each image as he drags it in, so that all of the selections for cropping the images are the same shape and size, and can be individually positioned, rapidly. This exact solution is perfect for this task, and although it works great in Photoshop, selections can't be dragged intact from image to image in the same way in gimp 2.6.11 on ubuntu 11.04/gnome 2.32.1/linux 2.6.38-8 generic , so I am looking for a way to accomplish something similar.

How do I get all but 3 layers which comprise the animated GIF to not go into the animated gif timeline on the bottom of the screen. I can only get this to work by turning off all the text and background layers. I need the timeline to just have 3 layers in it and only those layers move.
Why is it that when I save a file that has many, many layers to a PDF without layers as a copy that the file size is larger than flattening the layers and then saving the file as a copy to PDF? 19Mb vs. 5Mb?? Wouldn't saving a file without layers be the same as flattening the layers and then saving the file??

OK, I have an image of a webpage layout approx 800 x 1300 I need to convert this to a layered psd. I know I can take the image and use the pen tool and cut each slice and make them all layers which is nuts. I also know how to slice up an image in PS and save as images and slices and did that, now all those slices that PS saved for me I need to turn back into layers that will sit in a .psd follow? But I can't seem to find a tutorial anywhere on doing this. I'm in CS3 and maybe I have been working too hard but this is boggling my mind. I see thousands of ready for the web templates all in Photoshop layered .psd's how are these getting done?

I have a PSD file with about 14 layers. A few are hidden. I want to save as a jpg, so I go to file -> save as and save as a jpg file (the yellow alert icon shows next to "layers" in the save dialog). Yet the resulting jpg looks just fine. I've been doing this for years.
Today, support told me in case #180459305 that doing that would corrupt the jpg. They said that I need to first merge layers in the PSD file, then save as a jpg.
They also suggested that I post this question here. So here it is. Do I have to go through the extra step in manually flattening the PSD file (and potential pitfall of mistakenly saving it as a PSD and losing my layers forever)?
I'm an animation intern working for an animator who does things old school.
She gives me hundreds of animation cells to scan using her scanner into photoshop CS(nothing), using the scan utility in photoshop. the result, as we are doing it, is hundreds of separate image files. i then copy and paste each of these image files into another custom sized file as separate layers.
i know there must be a way to automate this or do it with an action, but i cannot figure it out. if you think this isn't possible with photoshop CS(nothing) i have CS3 available to me on my personal laptop.
