Where there's an active selection over the entire canvas you are unable to Contract your slection.
Doesn't matter how you select the whole canvas - whether a Select > All, or simply by dragging over everything.
This has been an issue in PS since I can remember. Not sure if CS6 retains the issue. I'm guessing YES.
everytime i use the selection tool it selects the entire canvas and not the image i want. why is doing this? how can i prevent this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a picture of a house with the sidewalk at the bottom. I am trying to fill the remainder of my enlarged canvas with "sidewalk". I know there has to be a way, but I can't figure it out!
I did try single row & single column marquee, but it gives me a striped pattern - not the exact sidewalk that the pic ends with.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've drawn a room in Autocad Architecture 2011. I've got layers for doors, windows stairs etc. I've noticed that one door needs to have it's elevation changed. But when I try to select the door, the door and the entire wall it's in gets selected and I can't edit (move) the door. I can't do anything to the door. I don't want to explode the entire selection because I think it will cause more problems that what I currently have. The wall and the door when selected are identified as a "Block Reference".

Can you select multiple layers on the canvas rather than by doing it in the layer dialog?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing problems with selecting objects. Usually, when I double clicked multi line text, I could edit it, now I get a text: "select an MTEXT object:", which basically means I have to select it again.
Another example of this is quick selection tool. Usually I selected the objects, then went to quick select pop up screen and under "Apply to:" I selected "Current selection". Now, there's only "Entire drawing" option and if i want current selection, I have to re-select it again.
I checked all the selection options and stuff. I attached some screenshots.
I have to use the Image > Canvas Size option to resize the size of my canvas to a wanted size. However this means a lot of trial and error to get the canvas size the same size of my current selection. Is there a quick function that would resize the canvas size to my current selection?

To try to do this, I made a rectangular selection box, then dragged and dropped a pattern into the box. This created a new layer called "clipboard". I right clicked the clipboard layer, then left clicked "Scale Layer". Then I entered a width and height in pixels that matched the size of the canvas. The selection does expand, but it doesn't fill the entire canvas.

I presently have code that will select objects on screen based on particular stored object handles. The code then prompts the user to add additional selections once these handle selections are made. No problem. The problem lies with attempting to deselect the objects that were selected via object handles. I should say highlighted because that is what the present code is doing. It is highlighting the objects on screen. The code I am using follows:

the problem is I don't know how to contrust a selectionset with all entites in the drawing selected. I've spent the major part of the day searchin here and in the API reference. But nothing.. how to create such a selection set. I'm using the COM API in C#.net
When I use the Fuzzy select tool or the select by colour tool, how can I remove the selection area around the parts that I don't want selected. For example. I have red car on a white background which I want to cut and paste to a black background. I select the white background, but although it selects all the white, it also selects other small areas on the car which are a similar colour. If the threshold is lowered too much when I use these select tools then I get a very small white border around the object when I paste it on to a dark surface. So instead of selecting using the default (15) or even less, I have to ramp it up so as the selection is closer to object and does not show the white jagged line. I thought that I could use the other selection tools with the "remove from selected" option selected, but each time I place a rectangle around the selected area that I want ot deselect, it does away with the entire selection area. I just cannot get it sussed.

View 4 Replies View Relatedyou've zoomed in to start this painstaking freehand selection withlots and lots of points, and when you get to the end, nothing getsselected. Then you notice that, once again, you had done a Select Allsome time ago (invisible because you zoomed in) and forgotten to SelectNone before clicking the lasso.
What do people do to avoid this? (I know the obvious answer is "rememberto check what your selection is all the time", but that's seriouslyflow-disruptive.)
GIMP could blink the image or something when you add selectionpoints that don't increase/decrease the already selected area, but Iguess that might take some time to implement.

The problem is that after using my select all, or using the marquee tool (tried both ways) to draw the selection my contract option is still grayed out it (like most everyone else has said). Only difference is, it was WORKING fine 30 min ago, I've used it many times while working on numerous documents and now all of the sudden it wont work on anything. I havn't made any changes to any prefs, but maybe I hit a hotkey and locked something? I remember when my define pattern was grayed out, I read a post where I clicked one simple option and voila it was back to normal...something with a spacebar shortcut I think?
I s there an efficient way of stretching an object. Usually I drag my mouse from right to left, thereby selecting objects that my selection box just touches. I want to drag my mouse from left to right so that only the vertices which are inside my selection box get selected.

When I select a polyline or hatch and then select properties it shows that there is no selection. However if I select text I can edit the text style, but I can't change the colour. View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been using Photoshop CS2 for several years to enhance my photographs, but just now have encountered something simple I cannot find out how to do. I have on the background layer a picture of a room interior with the exposure set mostly for the open window, but the rest of the room is very dark. On the only other layer, the upper one, I have the same shot exposed correctly for the room, which overexposes the window area. The upper and lower layers are perfectly superimposed, and the upper layer is at 100% opacity.
I have selected the window on the upper layer and want to change the selected area's opacity to blend properly with the window on the bottom layer without changing opacity of the rest of the layer. No matter what I do, changing opacity seems to affect only the entire layer, and I haven't figured out how to isolate the selected area for the opacity change.
I can cut the selection to reveal the darker window on the bottom layer, but this doesn't give me the flexibility I need to balance the two exposures. An opacity change would be ideal.
