Lightroom :: How To Apply An Entire Keyword Set To Selected Image
Sep 19, 2012Is there a way to apply an entire keyword set to selected image (as opposed to applying keywords one by one from a set)?

View 2 RepliesI am running windows 7 64 bit. LR 4 worked fine. LR5 has the following (main) issues/bugs: Crashes when help - about system is clicked.
Freezes on keyword changes and will not refresh or change keywords with newly selected image. Sometimes fixes with waiting a long time, sometimes only with restart of the program or optimization of database.Does not allow files to be rotated in full view, only in grid view.
With the upgrade to 5.2 I hoped the above would be corrected. They have not, and now, as an added 'feature' I also have:During the same session, a previously exported image is re-exported with a new export in place of one or more of the newer exports. This happens despite the filmstrip or grid view being in sync on choices and when I am certain that previously exported image is not selected in the current export.
Further, the program does seem quite sluggish at times, though I have the program and database on seperate drives. I am thinking or will change over to working in previews to resolve that issue, meanwhile, the other issues are still in play.
I am trying to apply a keyword to a group of photos, and am holding down the shift key as instructed. However, only the first picture is getting the keyword attached. I am using Lightroom 4.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have expanded my keywords over several years. There are bird images taken several years ago that lack keywords but when I bring them up now I also have the keywords from that time which are quite inadequate today. Is there a way in which I can apply my current keyword listings to older images, i.e., change the old keyword folder for my current one?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have many of my photos tagged. When I do a keyword search, it only searches the current directory - not even the sub-directories. How do I get the search to go through my entire catalog?
View 1 Replies View RelatedLong, long, keyword hierarchy. Clicking on a keyword takes the focus back up to the keyword filter box. Usually happens if I've used the filter box to narrow down the keywords that are visible. Continues even after the filter box has been cleared. Doesn't happen all the time though. It is a real pain when trying to double click a keyword to edit it as the first click or the double click causes the list to refresh showing only the top entries. The second click (of the double click) then causes whatever keyword is now under the pointer to be keyword to be edited - NOT the keyword under the pointer when I started the double click.
I've seen this happen in both LR3.0 and LR3.2RC.
Windows XP, 32bit.
I'm new to LightRoom and am glad to have found this great resource. Onto the issue at hand:
An ongoing office project is using LR3 to catalog 30 years' worth of images gathered from various media. Some are scans of slides, negatives, or prints; others are images straight from a digital camera. We have three people working on this cataloging project. The lead guy has created keywords on his computer that he uses to tag these images. Is there any way to make sure the keywords he's using on his machine sync with and are available to the other users of the image catalog? If not, is there a file that would have to be shared among the three users to make that functionality happen?

If I am in Library module, select filter Metadata, select Keywords from dropdown (no other filter panels selected), and start to scroll down the list of keywords, I can select keywords by mouseclick, and see the matching photos as thumbs in the main window.
However as I scroll further down, I can no longer select keywords - the mouseclick no longer highlights or selects. This happens rather incosnsistently - by which I mean, the point in the eyword list where the select stops working is not always the same place in the keyword list.
If I click several times on the same non-selecting keyword, LR4.4 jumps to taking 50% (exactly) of processor time (shown in task manager) , and the memory usage climbs steadily until all free RAM is consumed.
This is a small (~8000 image) catalogue, with ~2500 keywords, entirely non-hierarchical.
The catalogue is set to optimise on backup, weekly.
I've tried deleting and recreating the preferences file btw to no avail
I like to keep track of what I've exported and uploaded to Flickr and other sites and what I've sent out to people. It seems tagging my images with some appropriate keyword is the best way to do this. Such keywords as "Flickr" or "Facebook", etc. But I the only way I can do this is to remember to manually apply each such keyword when I do the export. It would seem to me to be wonderfully simply if I could, in the export form, do something like "Add keywords:" and list keywords that would be added to each image exported through that form.
Is there another way to track such usage other than with keywords?
Is there some easy way to do this that I am missing?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to apply a stencil to an entire model at once? if you wanted a lizard to have scales all over, uniformally, and then mask them out where you wanted, is there a way to do that in one step as opposed to painting over the stencil, rotating the model, painting over the stencil, etc.. etc..?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'have just imported all my photo's. They are mostly already keyworded but I have a slight problem. They range over the last 50 years so I have ended up with 50 "year" keywords, i.e. 1970, 1971, 1972 etc.
In order to tidy this up I though I'd create a "Year" parent keyword and have all those entries as children to it.
This would work bu how could I have a year keyword but not the parent name "Year" in the keyword list? Or at least not have it there when the image is exported.
Recently had my motherboard replaced under warranty and had to reinstall all programs. Had previously synched all my image files (and LR catalog files) to a separate hard drive using MemeoSync.
When I reinstalled and opened LR4.4 I found that the only folder showing was the synched drive (I:) whereas it should have been the C: drive. All synched images on the I: drive were correctly tagged but the original images on the C: drive had no keywords. I understand I can move all the files from the I: drive to the C: drive but there is another mystery I cannot solve.
I take all photos as RAW & jpeg. The files on the I: drive show the RAW files and the separate (but related) jpeg files. On the C: drive they are shown as <filename>.CR2+JPEG and I can't seem to separate them. I have tried ticking the box 'Treat JPEG files next to RAW files as separate files" without success.
So my question is, if I move all 49,000 files from one drive to the other, will the moved files retain the keyword tags AND the separated RAW/JPEG files? Also, must I delete all files from the C: drive before I move the replicated files from the I: drive? If this is successful I will then want to remove the I: folder in LR and just have the C: folder showing.
#LR4 catalog:createKeyword creates a keyword inside another keyword even though the 4th parameter (parent) in the call is nil. LR3 API doc says .. 'nil to create at the top level' and thats how it worked. Looking forward to LR4 SDK documentation.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have the demo version of Lightroom 4.1 and really like it and am thinking of buying it. I have one question (at the moment, anyway). In the Library module, when I open an image, the Metadata tab shows me only some of the exif data in my file compared to what I can see from Windows explorer file properties on my jpg files. For example, the Metadata tab does not show me: exposure compensation, metering mode (spot, center-weighted, or matrix), exposure program (like Aperature Priority or Shutter Priority), Contrast, Brightness, Saturation, Sharpness, White Balance, etc.
If Windows Explorer can display the entire exif data for the image, why can't LR? Is there maybe some way I don't know about to make LR show me the full exif data instead of just what it considers "interesting"?
I see if I apply and adjustment layer, it works for the whole clip but any filter outside of that or rubber stamp only lasts for a few frames. How do I apply them to the entire clip?

Doesn't matter how you select the whole canvas - whether a Select > All, or simply by dragging over everything.
This has been an issue in PS since I can remember. Not sure if CS6 retains the issue. I'm guessing YES.
I've drawn a room in Autocad Architecture 2011. I've got layers for doors, windows stairs etc. I've noticed that one door needs to have it's elevation changed. But when I try to select the door, the door and the entire wall it's in gets selected and I can't edit (move) the door. I can't do anything to the door. I don't want to explode the entire selection because I think it will cause more problems that what I currently have. The wall and the door when selected are identified as a "Block Reference".

I know I could export a develped image, then import it and continue developing this image at its intermediate stage.
But is there a way to actually render the selected dev. settings while remaining in the develop module so that I can carry on using the sliders all over again?

How do I apply an edit to every file in a folder? Every time I need to do this, I end up flailing around for 10 minutes before I can finally get it to work. Or, sometimes I give up and manually paste the copied settings to each file one at a time. It seems a no-brainer that "copy settings" followed by "paste settings" to all files selected would do the trick. Or "copy settings" foillowed by "Sync settings." But it doesn't work.

2) Convert the image to B&W.
Result -- The main image is converted to B&W, but the local adjustment doesn't change, i.e. it's still colored. Here's a trivial (and not-realistic) example of what happens:
My goal is to adjust the colors and the apply the B&W conversion to the entire processed image, not just the original piece. Is there a way to do this? I feel like I'm missing something small and easy.
I have used multiple versions of Lightroom (2, 3, 4, and now 5). Why can't I add keyword tags to multiple photos? I know that it can be done while importing, but I usually import a whole day's worth of pictures at one time and they don't require all the same keyword tags. The ones that are common I do add during import. I used to be able to highlight the photos I wanted to add tags to, go to the metadata and find find the list of keywords applied to those photos. Tags that were not common to all photos has an * beside them. If I wished to have one of these tags for all the selected photos I just removed the *, otherwise I added the new tag to the list.
