Photoshop :: Can't Associate PSD File With CC In Windows 7
Jun 18, 2013
I just updated from Photoshop CS6 to CC. All of the file types I had associated with CS6 reverted to a default image program. When I attempted to associate these files, including photoshop psd files, win7 refused to recognize CC as a program I could associate files with!
LR4 will not appear in Windows 7 default programs and access as a default program to choose. Microsoft says it is becasue it does not appear in the Windows registry and to contact the manufacturer. How do I get LR4 registered in Windows 7? If I have to reinstall what do I need to do to protect my file structures, etc.?
I've just now installed Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4. File types PSD and TIFF work fine, but I'm completely unable to associate JPG, JPEG or any other variant with the Photoshop program such that I can double-click on the photo file and open Photoshop and the photo. I can associate JPG with either Bridge or Lightroom, or several other programs, but when I browse to Photoshop and select Photoshop.exe nothing happens, not even an error message.
Operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate Edition, 32-bit. There is 4GB of memory in the machine, which is a Dell Vostro 1720 laptop.
I have installed Photoshop CS2 as a part of the Video Production Suite. I am having difficulty associating my image file types to PS CS2. Windows defaults to its image viewer and will not change in the Folder Options in Windows. How can I do this within Photoshop? When I installed from the DVDs I was not presented with the File Association Window, as the the Help file indicates.
I have opened After Effects CC multiple times, created and saved .c4d files from Cinema 4D Lite and dragged .c4d files onto both applications. I have also restarted the computer many times. The system is running on a new installation on Mac OS on a drive formatted just 2 weeks ago so there should be no issues from strange system changes.
The .c4d files still appear with a Terminal icon and association on Mac OS X. Even when I use "Open With". This is annoying because it is hard to visually find these files without the proper icon on them. They even have the Terminal icon when imported into After Effects.
How can I change the icon system-wide to be correct?
I can't get my PSP X3 to associate a .pspimage type file. The box won't let me check it, so I don't get the previews when I open my files, I guess I thought it would automatically do it?
I am using Windows 7. How do I associate a file type (.jpeg) with Gimp 2 program. I follow easy steps in Windows, but I am unable to locate (.exe) file for Gimp. Where is the .exe file i need to complete this?
I have many files which I created by making a copy of the original and editing it. I have the original file with no edit history. The copy which shows the results of the editing is marked as a missing file and the edit history is greyed out. Both file share the same name with the exception that one is a copy. Is there any way to re-link these files? When I try to search for the missing file and point to the original, it tells me that the file is already linked to a file and can't be linked to a second file.
Everything was working fine. I've had Photoshop forever. I had to download the software again and reinstall Acrobat to get it to work. Photoshop works fine, however, when I download a photo that someone sends me and try to open, I get an error message.
If I open Photoshop, the image opens just as usual, no problems. When I go to the control panel and try to associate JPG with Photoshop CS 6, I can't. I find it, I try, but I still get the same choices and none of them are Photoshop. I've clicked browse. I've found Photoshop.exe. I've clicked "open" and nothing happens. It doesn't go into the recommended programs.
TIFF is fine. PSD works. It's only JPG.What should I do?
Since installing Photoshop CC, I cannot associate jpg's or psd's with Photoshop CC. I have used the "open with..." dialog box (something I have done a million times, so I know what I'm doing), but after choosing Photoshop, it does not appear in the list of recommended or other programs and will not open the jpg or psd file in Photoshop.
FYI, I installed Photoshop CC while Photoshop CS6 was still on my computer. I then deinstalled Photoshop CS6 and that is when I noticed the problem.
Bridge has no problem showing them, but associating them with PS CS6 is antother story. PS CS6 can open and edit those files when you drag them by hand into the workspace, but the preferences box of Bridge doesn't seems to know this kind of file type.
How do I associate *.psd files with PSE11? I've tried associating them with:
C:Program Files (x86)AdobeElements 11 OrganizerPhotoshop Elements 11.0.exe
But everytime I click a .psd file, it tries to import the file into the Organizer (even if it has already been imported). I would rather start the editor, or the welcome screen.
I would like to be able to tag a photo (ie: many photos at one time) with a KEYWORD tag for a place and then be able to find those photos on the map under the PLACES tab.
I have recently upgraded from AutoCAD 2008 to 2001. Now when opening a file from windows explorer (desktop vs the AutoCAD browser) and AutoCAD is not running. AutoCAD will startup and open a new drawing as well as bring up the dialog box for finding a file to open, which I cancel, THEN open the drawing that I have selected. I have not seen this before and am wondering what variable or option is causing to happen. I am also seeing two icons for the same drawing file in the Windows task bar.
I have worked in Sony Vegas 9 and I was hoping Adobe Premier Pro CC was similar--- but its not. I can't figure out how to render and save a file as a windows media or mp3 or in any format for that matter.
re: Adobe Photoshop Elements 12, downloaded to Windows XP in the presence of Photoshop Elements 11 which was then removed. In Photoshop 12 attempt to associate by dragging a photo in the Organizer Media screen elicits message "Error applying Keyword Tags". How can I associate new photos with categories, Keywords? on the left derived from Photoshop 11?
I am doing for myself logo for my mp3 in window media center, they are png with no background. the same logo can appear for different album, some look good while other look like there are some piece on black on the background. I know that windows as a hard time with png.
1/ I have spent alot of time setting up profiles so all the information on the profile are dynamic and to our company standards. I have created the alignments along the road centrelines and created the profiles for those alignments. Wouldn't you know it they made changes to the site plan. When I click on the alignment and select Edit Aligment Geometry, the Alignment Layout Tools come up but I can't select any of the tools to edit the alignment. Am I missing something.
2/ Can I create a new alignment called street A (revised) and associate it to the profile currently associated to street A (orig) so I don't have to rebuild all the profile labels etc?

When I am in sketch mode I can draw a rectangle and when I go back to dimension it it only adjusts that specific line and not the connecting lines. Is there a setting or command to fix this?
Is there a way to associate components to layers so when they are placed in a drawing they are automatically placed on the proper layer.
Example: a frame assembly is associated with a "Frame" layer that has certain attributes. That frame assembly is part of a larger assembly and when that larger assembly is placed in a drawing the frame is automatically assigned to the Frame layer.
I use few image types, 90% are png, the rest 10% are gif/jpeg. When I want to edit an image, I can start the editor from the context menu of the image icon and with almost all the images the default editor is Paint.Net but not for the gif images. how to set it in the registry but ... I didn't found the clean way to do it.
How Paint.net is registering itself as the default editor for the other image types? How can add to this list the gif type?
While saving as .svg, there are options to "Show SVG Code..." and "Web Preview". Neither of these are working for me. Do I have to associate a web browser somehow?
When I turn on my compagny computer everything is alright. Photoshop CS6 13.0 x32 start correctly. I can work on picture as expected. But during the day, Photoshop doesn't want to open other file (any other file).I can continue to work on a picture that still open and can save it, but I can not open anything else.
Restart Photoshop doesn't work. I must reboot the computer to correct this and open other file.I'm on windows 7 SP1 with administrator rights..No plugin installed.
I scanned some images using Phtoshop CS2 and saved them in Photoshope as jpgs. But apparently photoshop interpretted the end of the file name that I typed as a file extension - so a file that was called Portrait-06.22.1999 - was saved as a "1999" file as opposed to a jpg file. I can view these images in Windows Photo Viewer or Windows Live Photo gallery but they won't open in Photoshop. How do I change the file type so photoshop will recognize them? I tried just to add a JPG extension to the name of the file but that did not work. Also those photos that had this problem but were listed under "open recent" - I was able to get back in and save again as jpg and now they are fine.
Once I used Photoshop 7, my Windows XP can review the thumbnail of the .PSD files. I can see the images from the folder and don't need to open them from Photoshop. But after I installed Photoshop CS3, the PSD files can't review in XP folder anymore. The thumbnails are the logo of PSD and I can't see the images without opening the CS3. How can I make PSD file review as the thumbnails in the XP folder?
I am unable to associate any files with PSP 12 Ultimate or 9. I go in under preferences/file locations then choose the type file (plugin, mask...) then choose the particular file to load but nothing happens.
I do a fair amount of design work for the automotive industry.
Most of the industry uses Catia, and they seem to set up so that certain features have certain colours. I think this is done for when the parts go for machining. The CAM system will recognise certain feature colours and then associate certain tooling with that operation. For example a Ø10mm dowel hole is always blue, and a M8 taper hole is always yellow etc, etc,
Any way to associate certain features with colours in Autodesk inventor?
I have to extract two details from a general view in order to some holes could be visible. The problem comes when I try to create the hole table, because I don't know how associate the table to both details.
