I can't get my PSP X3 to associate a .pspimage type file. The box won't let me check it, so I don't get the previews when I open my files, I guess I thought it would automatically do it?
View 1 RepliesI've just now installed Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4. File types PSD and TIFF work fine, but I'm completely unable to associate JPG, JPEG or any other variant with the Photoshop program such that I can double-click on the photo file and open Photoshop and the photo. I can associate JPG with either Bridge or Lightroom, or several other programs, but when I browse to Photoshop and select Photoshop.exe nothing happens, not even an error message.
Operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate Edition, 32-bit. There is 4GB of memory in the machine, which is a Dell Vostro 1720 laptop.
I have opened After Effects CC multiple times, created and saved .c4d files from Cinema 4D Lite and dragged .c4d files onto both applications. I have also restarted the computer many times. The system is running on a new installation on Mac OS on a drive formatted just 2 weeks ago so there should be no issues from strange system changes.
The .c4d files still appear with a Terminal icon and association on Mac OS X. Even when I use "Open With". This is annoying because it is hard to visually find these files without the proper icon on them. They even have the Terminal icon when imported into After Effects.
How can I change the icon system-wide to be correct?
I am using Windows 7. How do I associate a file type (.jpeg) with Gimp 2 program. I follow easy steps in Windows, but I am unable to locate (.exe) file for Gimp. Where is the .exe file i need to complete this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I open an image from my NAS, edit the image, and then attempt to save it as the default jpg type I get the following error message: "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."
This error doesnt happen with any other image filetype. It doesnt happen with local hard drives. It doesnt happen with unedited images. It just appears to happen with edited images, the default jpg filetype, and my NAS.
When I actually type in ".jpg" at the end of the filename it works.
Its an annoyance i would like solved because I do this a lot.

I'm new here but for from new to PSP. I've used PSP8 for years and now are using PSP X1. I got PSP 4 but I'm not a fan at all. Anyway I've got a new PC running Win7 64 bit pro. The thing is PSP has decided it want use Adobe open style fonts. The True Type are fine. The open style do show in the fonts list and when used they do create a new vector layer and show the writing in the layers column. The thing is they don't show on the image. They used to work fine before but not now.

"Command could not be completed because the document type is unsupported"
Same thing happens if it is "Merged Visible"
If the image is flattened or is a background image all works fine. I do not have this problem in X2. I did reset the workspace, as sometimes that works, but not in this instance.
I use few image types, 90% are png, the rest 10% are gif/jpeg. When I want to edit an image, I can start the editor from the context menu of the image icon and with almost all the images the default editor is Paint.Net but not for the gif images. how to set it in the registry but ... I didn't found the clean way to do it.
How Paint.net is registering itself as the default editor for the other image types? How can add to this list the gif type?
Any chance that Paint.NET could learn my preferred "save as" file type (it seems to insist on .png) - or even better provide the means to select a default file type?

Is there way to designate a "default" folder for saving other than having to continually search for the folder I wish to save to?
I noticed, that in X4 my file ( in which I'm working) is lost, if I open a new file from the organizer.
In older versions, I could have a lot of pictures on my screen and switch between them.
Is this a "bug" in X4, or is there a way to put this feature back like X2.

When saving my created pictures i mostly choose JPEG save format, but the default type is PNG, Is there some setting to set the default to JPEG instead of PNG to avoid clicking on the choosing the desired file type under dropdown "Save as type" each time?

- make the default Tool - Rectangle Select;
- make the default save file type - JPEG (*.jpg;*.jpeg;*.jpe;*.jfif);
- allow the users to change the default workspace background color (now, Hex: #C9D3E2);

I believe it’s the best freeware software available, counting all types for software/utilities/add-ons, etc.
I just updated from Photoshop CS6 to CC. All of the file types I had associated with CS6 reverted to a default image program. When I attempted to associate these files, including photoshop psd files, win7 refused to recognize CC as a program I could associate files with!

Windows defaults to its image viewer and will not change in the Folder Options in Windows. How can I do this within Photoshop? I have many files which I created by making a copy of the original and editing it. I have the original file with no edit history. The copy which shows the results of the editing is marked as a missing file and the edit history is greyed out. Both file share the same name with the exception that one is a copy. Is there any way to re-link these files? When I try to search for the missing file and point to the original, it tells me that the file is already linked to a file and can't be linked to a second file.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust installed PSP X6 on windows 8 64 bit. When in file explorer, I click on pspimage file and it opens in X6 64 bit. I want it to open in 32 bit. I did the right click Open With/Choose default program trick to no avail. I also did the File/Preferences/File Format associations and selected PSP X6 32-bit but it still opens it in the 64 bit version.
Do I need to uninstall PSP and install it again minus the 64 bit version to get it to work? I don't use the 64 bit version much cause my plugins are 32 bit.
Why is it when I move the X4 files (brushes, picture tubes, etc) to another location and even enter that information in the program that the program moves everything BACK into My Documents folder when I restart the program the next time?
The My Documents folder is for MY DOCUMENTS, not brushes, picture tubes, scripts, maps, gradients and all this other crap.
Why I can't stop this program from inserting folders in My Documents and filling it up with crap. I don't want it there.
I have a picture, I select save and chose png No what what name i pick PSP tells me "The file name is not valid" If i chose to save as TIF it saves right away. If I copy a png file in the directory and click on the file, and then click on that file in the save as dialog, PSP asks me if i want to overwrite, if i say yes then it saves the file: From then on i can save without getting this error message.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm baffled. I do 99.9% of my photo work in Lightroom and then export to jpg. On the rare occasion when I need to remove something from a photo (a fly or leash), I have been using PSP version 9 because I already have it.
However, this morning I opened an 8 Mb jpgs file, did my editing and just saved it (no save as or resizing), and now the file is only 2 Mb.

I use PSP x3 and I have a 3mb photo. When I edit and crop the photo, I then "save as". When I go back and ck the photo properties of the photo I saved after editing it has saved it at only 131kb. When I tried to get a large print developed, I was told the resolution was too low and the picture was pixelated. How do I save the edited photo and keep it at 3mb?

I have PaintShop Photo Pro X3 running on Windows 7 x64. I have created artwork for an ad that I am purchasing in a trade publication. The contact person at the magazine tells me that they need my artwork in CMYK format and in a file type of eps. They need the CMYK format in one file as opposed to being broken out into separate channels. They are using Quark software. How I can get my artwork into the format that Quark needs?
