When saving my created pictures i mostly choose JPEG save format, but the default type is PNG, Is there some setting to set the default to JPEG instead of PNG to avoid clicking on the choosing the desired file type under dropdown "Save as type" each time?
I’ve been using PAINT.NET, for a long time now.Today, I’ve created an account in the Forum, because I would like to ask, if possible and desirable for the Developers and the program Users, the following:
- make the default Tool - Rectangle Select;
- make the default save file type - JPEG (*.jpg;*.jpeg;*.jpe;*.jfif);
- allow the users to change the default workspace background color (now, Hex: #C9D3E2);
I have read the Rules and the FAQ.To finish I just would like to congratulate all of you, that have given us this fantastic piece of software (and for free)! I believe it’s the best freeware software available, counting all types for software/utilities/add-ons, etc.
Paint.net seems to default (at least for me) to saving pictures as PNGs. I would like to change the default save type to JPG - how do I do this? And how do I change other defaults like scan types, etc?
how to set the default save file type to 100% JPG every time starting at a named folder. What I am looking for is to hit save and it to have pre selected a particular folder / to have remembered the last folder I saved in, and without need to interact with dialog boxes have it save in my chosen format at the quality I want. (i will never need to re-edit).
Any chance that Paint.NET could learn my preferred "save as" file type (it seems to insist on .png) - or even better provide the means to select a default file type?
However for business use I have a need to efficiently send .jpg files to various people and I often forget to change the file type so I have to reload the file, re-save the file, etc. and strangely, I can't seem to find the preferences menu to change this option. Where the default save-as file type can be changed to .jpg?
is there a way to set the default save location in gimp, when i create a new image and save it always starts in ~/Documents directory on the save dialog.
i tried to see if there was a setting i could override in gimprc but i was unable to find this, maybe i am looking in the wrong place.
I would like to ensure that all my SVG files are UTF-8 when saved, but they sometimes come out as ISO 5589-1 (the defualt encoding)Â Is there a way to set & lock this somewhere, somehow?
Where in this program ( 4x) do i check to not use PSP as my default program? I use another editing program and PSP is opening up my 'bridge' pictures? i need to use the programs as individuals..
Is there a way to save default setting. I like to have the ruler to show and the page to be in pixel, I work on webpage. Also is it possible to set default export to pixel.
CorelDraw X5 v. 15.2.0.686 Hot Fix 4 - Windows 7-64
I am running XP and cannot set CS4 to be the default file to open my images. When I right click a file, select "open with", and choose CS4, nothing happens. I did not find this problem with CS3 or CS2, both of which I have uninstalled.
Recently when I open a "New File" it opens up as a slice. How can I correct that. I don't want to work with slices. How can I open a new file in the default setting?
I am using Illustrator CS5.1 and have just noticed that whenever I try to open a new document (file/New...) the document is a PDF instead of an AI file. How do I change it back to AI? - Not sure how it changed to PDF in the first place.
When I open an image from my NAS, edit the image, and then attempt to save it as the default jpg type I get the following error message: "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."
This error doesnt happen with any other image filetype. It doesnt happen with local hard drives. It doesnt happen with unedited images. It just appears to happen with edited images, the default jpg filetype, and my NAS.
When I actually type in ".jpg" at the end of the filename it works.
Its an annoyance i would like solved because I do this a lot.
He's contructed the ships hull using a plane with the schematics in it as background to shape the ship's lines accordingly. He saved his progress butwhen he loads in the 3d max file the hull lines (I believe it's called "splines") are all gone and only the background image remains. The weird thing is, when you start 3d max and select the saved project, you can see the splines in the small thumbnail preview on the side. But when the file is actually loaded, they are gone.
I've checked the 3 auto save files but they all show the same; splines in preview, splines gone after the file has been loaded. I can't imagine that the 3 auto save files are all corrupt. So I'm wondering if there's some kind of setting he might of accidently set off?
who knows the default character set of the exported type catalog file from revit 2012?  I need to export some families containning  chinese parameter names from revit, and found broken character ??? only.  what should I do?  or if any workaround for me to display the context correctly? I'm using notepad ++ rather than notepad.
I perfectly understand that paint save as png to avoid get information loss..BUT Why don't you let us configure an alternative save as to get jpeg ? Like another short cut : e.g "ctrl+shift+alt s" would let us save as jpeg without loosing each time 5sec to change png to jpeg. because when you have to save 10-20 print screen in a row that's more than painfull.  give us a option to set jpeg as default ! and if you are so afraid that ppl forget that will make them loose information just make a pop up to remind them why the png can be more interesting for other situation.  personally, i use paint.net to save in a sec print screen, to add somes informations it in need to post a screen on a forum etc.. and this soft is perfect for that since it load in a sec and its simple enough and fast.consider add a OPTION to allow us set jpeg as default save as.  I perfectly know that png is more interesting in somes case, and i dont want discut about why png > jpeg, i just would like to be able to do what i want and have a option to set the jpeg as default.
I normally save my images as jpegs. What I'd like to know is can paint.net bet set to save as jpeg by default, to avoid having to change from .png each time.
Also, is there a way of short-cutting to the acquire screen, rather than going file > acquire > from scanner or camera > Select device each time - I only have one scanner, so I use that each time.
Until recently, I was using the paint app of Windows 7. However, the office changed my laptop to a PC running Windows XP SP3.
I do a lot of documentation work and part of my job requires me to save screenshots for posterior use in product manuals.
My situation is this:
I have to save in .bmp format (office policy) and, by default, Paint.net saves in .png format.
Is there any way to set the Save default format to .bmp or any other format?
Secondly, when I save a file that contains a period in its name (for example "ch2.p16" - chapter 2, page 16), it will save the file but not in the format selected. Instead, Paint.net assumes that anything after the period is the file extension. Thus, the file is saved as "ch2.p16" with a file type of "p16".
Is there any way to bypass this glitch other than having to avoid using periods in the file name? (I've attached an image)
Best practices for setting up systems in a lab environment. We have a lab enviroment of about 200 systems that access AutoCad, Inventor, Mechanical and others.
We need to have a customized interface come up when Autocad is opened by students.I have read that you can do this with profiles and workspaces and also with loading a acad.lsp file.
In the past we have just copied the Windows admin profile used to customize AutoCad to the default profile. In AutoCad 2013 that does not seem to grab everything. It doesn't seem to be the best way to do what we need.
We will also be moving to Windows 7 soon which will also cause an issue.I want to find the best way to do this with out having to deal with the Windows profile.
I'm trying to figure out what file type/setting I should start saving my files as for printing. I want to have files that will give the highest quality when printing, but not take up any more space on my hard drive than necessary (I want to archive and be able to share the non psd files). What would you guys recommend? Are you losing anything by saving files as jpg? What about the difference between quality level “10” and “12” for jpg (since the file size doubles)?
When I save for the web, select my file type ( png,wbmp,jpeg) it displays the file type as a Gif in the lower left even though the file saves in the correct format. This is the version from the cloud download. Every file type displays this way?
OK - so i've done a little bit of an edit to a photo and just wanted to save it to a jpeg so i could use it in other stuff. I was just wondering where this function is?
I've attached an image of the options that are available to me when i select save as.
I'm trying to set up an action to save a batch of files I creating using the variables tool (as detailed in this video: [URL]), I'll go into the Actions window, and record myself saving the current file in .Ai format, and then stop recording. Seems pretty simple, but when I set that action to run a batch on my dataset it saves all the files without an extension. Am I missing another step where I set the file format that the action is supposed to save with? I'm confused. I've tried this using a few different file formats and they all come up the same.  this is what my Output looks like:
