Best practices for setting up systems in a lab environment. We have a lab enviroment of about 200 systems that access AutoCad, Inventor, Mechanical and others.
We need to have a customized interface come up when Autocad is opened by students.I have read that you can do this with profiles and workspaces and also with loading a acad.lsp file.
In the past we have just copied the Windows admin profile used to customize AutoCad to the default profile. In AutoCad 2013 that does not seem to grab everything. It doesn't seem to be the best way to do what we need.
We will also be moving to Windows 7 soon which will also cause an issue.I want to find the best way to do this with out having to deal with the Windows profile.
Is it possible to change default settings? I prefer to save my work to the desktop and I prefer jpeg to png.
Can this be done in Paint.net? Where would I make these changes? If a update is downloaded, would this be saved automatically?
The default extension is .png.

Paint.net seems to default (at least for me) to saving pictures as PNGs. I would like to change the default save type to JPG - how do I do this? And how do I change other defaults like scan types, etc?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHowever for business use I have a need to efficiently send .jpg files to various people and I often forget to change the file type so I have to reload the file, re-save the file, etc. and strangely, I can't seem to find the preferences menu to change this option. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been using Paint.net for quite awhile now and like it very much. There is one thing I would like to see, it would make using Paint.net easier. Right now the default setting for saving is PNG. Unfortunately I do not use PNG, the universal setting for just about anything is JPEG. Is there a way to change the default setting from PNG to JPEG? I downloaded and installed the latest versio, 3.5.10 but it made no differense. I have been unable to find anything about this in the drop down menus.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIf you right-click an image and click "Edit" in Windows, this opens the image in MS Paint. And you can't change this. Or that's what I thought; here's how to change that to Paint.NET!
Warning: This post probably looks really suspicious since this is my first post. What the heck. Anyways, I know diddly squat about the Registry. Some tweak sites for XP mentioned this tweak (stating this key would be found at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ SystemFileAssociations \ image \ shell \ edit \ command). That exact key didn't exist. So, I searched the Registry for "SystemFileAssociations" and found the key I wrote below (in HKLM). I then took a huge risk and tried the hack. It worked, but I may have inadvertently told Windows to delete C:\Windows upon reboot.
All right, so if you right-click an image in Windows XP, Vista, or 7, there is an option in the context menu called "edit". This defaults to MS Paint and I thought that was impossible to change. Until I did some Google'ing (see Warning above). Go to this registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\SystemFileAssociations\image\shell\edit\command
First, back up your registry (System Restore or regedit.exe -> File -> Export). Again, anything you do now is completely your responsibility. Then, right-click the only key in there, click Modify, and replace the path with your PaintDotNet.exe path (obviously include \PaintDotNet.exe). Don't change the quotes or the %1. Just delete MS Paint's path and insert PaintDotNet.exe's path.
Is it possible for me to change the default size of the new image which loads when paint.net is started?
It would be useful for me to start with an image size of 1024 x 1024.
I am aware that I can change the size of images, and that the size of any new image created after loading is the same as the last image.
Edit: I just realised a workaround. I saved a blank 1024 square pdn file to my desktop. Clicking this starts paint.net with this sized image.
How to change default canvas size when creating new file ?
Default canvas size are 800x600 px . I want set it to 500x414 px by default .
This is for Rectangle Select. I read somewhere else that it's possible but it didn't say how. I would also like to change the default for fixed ratio from 4:3 to something like 1:1 (square).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up auto importing by tethered shooting with a Canon 1Ds (but don't think brand and camera matter.)
I never use DNG, and am not aware of, and after a lot of searching, cannot find anywhere in the LR4.3 preferences at which I specified DNG conversion. In the Auto0Import dialog there is a File-handling tab that offers one choice: how to spell the dng suffix. The files I want to import will come in as CR2., and testing this with other folder destinations and with Canon's EOS Utility prove that the camera is "sending" CR2 files.
Currently I import raw images to my desktop, view in Bridge, make adjustments in Raw then batch process within photoshop, into JPG's.
The jpg resolution is always 240 pixels/inch How can I manually change the default image size??
Where in my work flow should this be set? In Photoshop, Raw image converter or bridge? I am using CS 4.
Since installing Mac OS 10.9 and Photoshop CC, my .psd files do not want to open with Photoshop CC. If I open the "Get Info" window on a .psd file, I can set "Open with” to Adobe Photoshop CC for an individual file, but if I click “Change All” and click “Continue” in the pop-up box, it just goes back to “Adobe CS6.app”, no matter what I do. Even files created in PS CC revert to opening with CS6.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set my photos to open in Photoshop CC. It was set to open just fine in regular Photoshop CS6 but once I installed Photoshop CC I was unable to open my photo's in photoshop unless I opened them in Bridge. I also can't open my InDesign documents unless I open them in Bridge. And I can't open Illustrator at all unless I open it in Bridge itself by adding the Illustrator.exe to my favorites in Bridge and then clicking on it. Is Photoshop CC not able to be the Default for photo's yet, is there a work around that can be done to have my computer register that it's even there to be set as default. Then when I uninstalled Photoshop CC because I WANT my photos to open automatically in Photoshop then when I went to re-install regular Photoshop CS6 it wasn't there to download so I had to reinstall Photoshop CC. Is there a way like I said to have my photos be open and to have my default be set in Photoshop CC?
