Photoshop :: CS6 Very Sluggish After Assigned RAM Used Up?

during the evaluation of my PS CS6 trial I encountered the following problem. Painting on a layer mask is very, very sluggish once Photoshop CS6 has used up all RAM that has been assigned to it.When I am in 100% view and <shift><click> about 10 times in quick succession it takes almost a minute for photoshop to catch up, often the last clicks get lost and the next click draws a line without using <shift>.
I tried without improvement:
- Different brushes (hard, soft, down to 10px)
- Disable graphics processor
- Disable layer icons
The problem seems to be related to virtual memory handling. Does PS CS6 use virtual memory buffering? The Activity Monitor shows still free memory.In comparison and on the same system, Photoshop CS4 with default VM Buffering remains quite responsive although the RAM usage of PS CS4 (active + inactive) is much lower than in CS6.

Just been trial testing CS4 with a keen view to buy. However - on my setup it feel sluggish. I notice the mouse pointer does not move smooothly and in pace with my mouse movements, making mask selections and cloning for example rather problematic.
CS2 work no problems. I am running on Windows Vista 32bit, with a 2.0gz dual core Pentium Dell XPS laptop, with 4GB RAM. A top spec graphic card with latest drivers too. Can't see why it should not perform equally as well as CS2. Anyone got any ideas, as I would really like to sue some of the new features in CS4.
Do I need to un-install CS2 first for example? I noted also that some modules like MMX don't open properly when CS4 starts up.
I own a copy of Photoshop CS6.Switching from Photoshop CS to CS6, I have found this version to be extremely slow and I can not find a reason why it is like this. It is impossible for me to work on it.
Problem: Slow performance, when using the brush tool there is a long delay - lag. The brush takes more than 8 seconds to catch up with my strokes.
Tried: - Memory usage allowed upgraded to 6GB, nothing changed. - Default selected "Scratch Disk" is the main SSD which has over 58GB of free space, I've tried selecting the secondary HDD as well but nothing changes. - Disabled the "Use Graphic Processor" square. nothing changed. - Disabled the "Use open CL" square in advanced Graphic Processor Settings. Nothing changed. - Changed power management settings in windows to "High Performance". nothing changed. - Disabling tablet pc service doesn't work.
Notes: - Graphic drivers are the latest release on AMD website - Windows is completely updated - SSD Firmware is the latest available. - The issue happens both with mouse and tablet. - 1px brush and 5000px brush lag just alike in zoomed and not zoomed canvas. - This happens on both x64 and x86 versions of the software.
Over the last week or so I've noticed that X6-64 seems to be far slower and less responsive than it was at the beginning. I'm not sure if this is my computer or the program.
There seem to be many to be many instances where a tool seems to stop working and I can see the indicator (Windows moving circle) is showing something is going on. In previous versions, if PSP was writing to file a bar would appear at the bottom showing progress of whatever activity was taking place behind the scenes. This was reassuring as it told me that the program had not stopped dead. That indicator seems to be missing from X6.
One of my co-workers has drawn a shoe (I work in the clothing-business) and is experience huge performance issues on that specific file. We've tried in both CS5.5 and CS6 with no difference.
When I try to rasterize the drawing, Illustrator stops responding. I've tried Simplifying and Cleaning up the paths, but with no lucks. It's not a particularely advanced file, but there seems to be a LOT of paths.
According to the "Document info"-window, there's 110,823 paths (67 open). On another drawing of a shoe (which has some similarities in looks etc.) there's only 86 paths (10 open).
How can I reduce the number of paths? And shouldn't I be able to see all 110,823 paths in the drawing?
I am trying to get a decent workflow to get 3D models created in PDMS into 3DS max for animation.
I have taken an RVM file into navisworks and exported as an FBX and i have the model inside max but the viewport is so sluggish its impossible to work with. My model has around 40,000 seperate objects so is there any way i can get 3ds to interperate this better and make it more managable?
I'm cropping a few thousand pictures, and the crop tool is just sluggish.
Changing the crop or moving the picture behind the crop is jumpy, sometimes it needs seconds to change the display, which makes cropping pain to work.
Even after the picture is loaded and the lightroom rested some time, cropping is sluggish, which should not be, since the picture is fully in the memory and moving it around should be easy for the computer.
So how can I get the crop tool to move faster?
I'm using a Win7 Core i7-2600 with 16GB Ram, LR catalogue on Intel SSD, images on a fast SeaGate HDD, AMD Radeon HD 6800 grafics adapter, 30" (2560x1600) display. The files are NEF from a Nikon D800E, but the files from my D700 are slow, too.
My company has upgraded to AutoCAD 2012 on VDE but CAD seems to be running a bit slow/sluggish. Is there any settings I should tweak in order to improve performance?
Since last week (4-19-2012) Our users have been expierencing cursor issues and freezes with Civil 3d 2012. Entering commands in the command line very slugish, pressing the shift key to select / de-select, trim, open osnap menu, ext.
We are running Win7pro6d bit quad core machines with 6gb ram, ATI FirePro V4800 (FireGL), Intel Xeon ES640 (2.67 ghz). AutoCAD Civil 3D(SP2) and all hotfixes installed.
This problem just started one week ago and It started with the cursor jumping all over the place when crossing objects. However; we now have very sluggish command line entry, 2 - 3 seconds after typing till it shows up, and cursors freezing when pressing the shift key for any reason.
I had to re-format hard drive. I did have data backed up by a service provider. I don't wan to restore all data. How do I locate the previous "TAG" files in organizer so I can import them into re-installed elements 11?
I have resized my stock files to 640x433, 72dpi, JPEG, for cataloging to Extensis Portfolio 7 and CDRs. These images are in numbers folders, according to subjects. The problem is when I initially open an image it asks for the color profile. I want it Adobe 1998 RGB, the same as my master TIFF files.
How can I just do this process by the folder for all images within it.?
Do I have to, for example, open all 2000 files, assign the profile and then save individually?
How do I tell what color space has been assigned to an image imported into lightroom. I think sRGB was assigned when it was edited in Photoshop and saved as a TIFF, but how do I verifiy that in Lightroom?
I am using autocad 2011. I am trying to attach a drawing as a xreg with a relative path. It keeps giving me relative path can not be assigned. I have tried saving the dwg. I have even started a new drawing and tried again but it keeps giving me the same error. All my drawing are in the same folder on a network drive. Another employee can open the drawing file from his computer and attach the same file fine. when He does it I can see the relative path. Is there a setting that I am missing?
After installing SP2 for 3ds Max 2011 (Windows 7, 64-bit), whenever I create a new object, the colour swatch in the 'Name and Color' rollout is always white, however, the actual colour assigned to each newly created object is not white, but is the same for all objects created (seems to be a different choice of colour after each restart of Max). If I click the colour swatch, 'Assign Random Colors' is checked and I can manually assign a different colour to the object I've just created and the colour swatch is updated to reflect my choice. If I continue creating new objects, the same colour as initially applied is assigned and the colour swatch is again white. If I uncheck 'Assign Random Colors' and create new objects, the colour swatch is again white and the same colour as initially applied is used.
I wish my Material will have the certain assigned Color.
For instance in the 2012 I have a Steel and assigned Steel Colour.
Once I change the properties of Steel Colour and save them to Library I will have
all further new Steel parts to be represented with this altered Colour by default.
How to make this simplest trick in the 2014?
I cannot stand any glossiness and reflectivity came with appearances and I wish I could get rid of that. I still work on 2012 exclusively because of appearances.
When I enable lens profile correction, choose default, auto or custom, LR5 will assign Tamron 28 75. However, the correct lens is the Tamron 24 70 (nikon). I checked my Lightroom 5 lens profiles list and the Tamron 24 70 is listed. How do I get LR5 to recognise the correct lens?
Keywords I assign to photos in Lightroom do not show up as "tags" when I view the photo's properties in Windows Live Photo Gallery. Is it possible to embed keywords assigned in Lightroom to the properties of the photo file?
I have created custom spaces and I have been able to build room with doors and then add a door tag that updates automatically with the info of the door. But for some reason, I am unable to assign the door to the space. I am not using project and I think that may be my problem. I feel as though I am almost there, but I can't assign the door to the space so that when I add a door tag it recognizes that the door is in a wall in a space and then gives me those numbers. If I click on the tag, I am able to anchor it to the space and then the room number appears in the tag, but I was hopnig to have it do it automatically. I have the door squiggle inside the space but I don't know how to attach it and also the space seems to have a number project based assigned to it, but that is not what I want since the drawing is not project based.
In starting a new project, I renamed "Level 1" to "Street Level" and "Level 2" to "Level 1". Next I added two additional levels in the drawing, "Level 2" and "Level 3".
My Project Browser shows only Level 1, Site, and Street. Why do the Levels 2 and 3 not show under and how can I get them to.
When assigning a coordinate system to my drawing in Civil 3D 2013, the drawing does not retain the selected system.
I choose the coord system I want in Map Setup and apply it (in this case MT83IF). After applying to the drawing I go back to verify the selected coordinate system and the dialog box indicates "N/A". The only workaround I can find is to save the drawing back to an earlier version and open it on another computer in the office that is running 2011. There I can assign my coord system and then reopen in 2013 where it now shows it properly assigned.
I have tried other coord systems to make sure it isn't isolated to just the one I am selecting - and it happens with all others I try. I have also tried a repair on my install to see if that would correct it to no avail.
I have a 64 bit system and have installed all service packs to date.
What is the best way to insert a c3d point with assigned values. For example, I want to insert a point with the style curb stop, on a certain layer with a certain label. Going through thr insert point tool is not very user friendly for users looking to add points, not assign properties. Can this operation be added to the tool palettes? I am not familar with creating my own.

I wanted to attach an image as Xref to my drawing. I like to set my Xref's relative but in this occasion I get the error "Relative path cannot be assigned".
When pinning a photo to the map, and get the GPS coordinates into metadata. I also get information in the IPTC fields for ISO Country Code, Country and State/province, but they are marked in italics and with a grey-coloured typeface. I use DNG raw files.
When exporting to JPG, the GPS coordinates are included in EXIF, but the placenames are gone.
If I enter the placenames manually, they export to both IPTC and XMP tags.
Why are the automatically assigned placenames not included on export?
in Corel X6, some spot colors, either pantone,custom or others, after re-opening files, these colors appearas NO NAME, and the object assigned to them appear withno fills?It never happens with RGB or CMYK colors.
I have a volume surface that I want cut & fill displayed with elevation banding. I created a surface style and chose pastels for the color scheme. When I analyze the surface I chose elevations>> range interval with datum and I get 2d solids but they are not pastel even though the style assigned is the one I mentioned.
How do I get the colors to be pastel?
Civil 3D 2012 & 2013 HP Z210 Workstation Intel Xeon CPU E31240 @ 3.30 Hz 12 GB Ram
I'm setting up some computers for training some new users on Civil 3D 2011 and Im having problems with importing points and creating figure lines, works great on all the computers in the office, but in the training room can not get the figure lines to assign to the proper layers. They all go on the zero layer. All the setting I see are the same.
I have LR 5.2 and I move files off onto a removable drive as a back-up and it allows me to share the pictures with them when they sometimes lose them. Windows 7 routinely assigns the drive to the letter M:, N:, and sometime P: and apparently I cannot see the folders unless the drive is assigned the same letter as it was when I imported the pictures into the catalog. The folders don’t even show up in the library, but if I do an import all of the folders appear as valid destinations within LR. How can I fix this? The first picture is a screen shot of the library; notice that the year 2013 is missing. The second screen shot is what appears when I go to import; note that 2013 appears. The folders simply do not appear in LR except when I attempt import.
When I look at N: in my “working catalog” it shows it as having catalog “AUMC” but the folders in it belong to the part of my working catalog that I have moved to a different external drive since they’re old picture I don’t use much. They all have question marks, but they are resolved with I attach the external drive with those folders on it.
My cursor is very sluggish in AutoCAD 2010, works fine in 2009.
Is there a setting for the cursor speed or resolution that I'm missing?
