Photoshop :: Why Do Filters Look Great In Preview Then Not After Applying
Nov 16, 2013I'm using Photoshop CC on windows 7 64 bit Compaq Presario CQ57. I'm very concerned that the "v ram" graphics card memory with this laptop is not big enough for the stated 512MB needed for 3D and other visual effects and that this might be the issue.
The "v ram" is set by HP on these models and is apparently 'linked' and 'unchangeable' from the motherboard. (as is 99 percent of laptops) BTW, I am disabled, I can't use a desktop PC.
I can't, however, find out how big the actual "v ram" is on my laptop. My computer's direct x diagnostic tells me the total display memory is 1960 MB. But is this the same as the v ram? Perhaps I'm just missing a stage in CC Photoshop that I need to do before using filters.
AutoCAD LT :: Why Is PDF Preview Blank
Jul 31, 2013I am running Autocad LT 2013 Windows 7 on a MacPro OSX using Fusionware. I am working in Model space.
When I want to plot a pdf using either the Plot command and Cute PDF writer, or the Output to PDF command, the preview shows up as a blank page. If I continue to Plot the pdf is written correctly, I just can't preview it to confirm it is correct.
When I try this via the Plot dialog box I get a white screen with a "Preview Job Progress" window and 2 buttons, Help and Cancel, neither of which is clickable. (See attached) I have to right click>Exit to get back to the dialog box. I have been using this method to print pdfs for 5-6 years with no problems.
When I use the Output tab I just get the white screen, which I then close and go back to the tab controls. The same thing happens when I use the Page Setup manager.
I don't know if this is connected but I have lost all ability to send prints to any of the printers in our office. I have downloaded the drivers again to no effect. So now I have to make pdfs, save to a file on our server, switch to the Mac side of the computer, and send the pdf to the printer.
Photoshop :: CC Blank Save As Dialog Then Crash When Working With Video / Frame Animations?
Aug 20, 2013I recently updated to CC from CS6 and am having issues when working with PSDs containing video layers, or are set up as frame animations: When attempting to Save As, the dialog will be completely blank except for the Save and Cancel buttons. If I press cancel, then return to Save As, CC then often crashes.

So far I am only having these issues if I have been working with video layers and then frame animations. Frame animations in particular seem to cause instability as I can often work with video layers all day without a problem. Then if I import video frames to layers, or open a PSD containing a frame animation, the Save As may not necessarily work.
Sometimes closing and restarting Photoshop will allow me to save again, but then sometimes a whole system reboot is required. It is only temporary though.
I am not running antivirus software or other apps aside from what starts at boot.
VideoStudio :: Blank Preview Window In X4 With Windows7
Feb 1, 2013I just upgraded to windows 7 and now there is a blank preview window when I try to capture. I have tried capturing in both DV and DVD and no preview. I am capturing via firewire from a VHS. This worked perfectly under windows xp but is not working under 7. It seems that it does capture but I cannot preview in order to find my spot on the tape.

Aug 4, 2011I recently purchased VSP4 and when capturing from Panasonic camera via fire wire, the preview window remains blank but capture is successful. I can preview video on LCD screen of camera but that is all. All the settings seem to be ok. (PAL). However, the options panel is greyed out except for insert to timeline option. Also, the video properties in the options panel are all greyed out. I have a previous version VS3 on another computer which shows the preview window OK on capture. Could this be the integrated video card in my new computer or is there something else going on here?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Blank Page When Plot Preview And Export To Pdf
Oct 3, 2013Excuse my awkwardness but I'm self taught on AutoCAD & have managed fine for last few months but have encountered an issue this evening I can't resolve. I've produced drawings, basic they may be, but when preview them the actual drawing area is barely noticable & when export to pdf it practically prints a blank page. I have very simple items in drawing, stockpiles, excavations test locations, and have been producing pdf's fine, even as recently as this morning using the same cadfile. But what ever I've managed to do since then has changed something and I can't resolve the issue.

Dec 2, 2011Firstly note I am using Videostudio Pro X4.
I have noticed many times that when I add the CIRCLE transition between two video clips that when I drag the 'scrubber' along through the two clips and transition, when the scrubber goes past/through the circle transition the preview window goes blank (displays black).
If I change the CIRCLE to any other transition it displays (the transition) correctly but as soon as I put the CIRCLE back it once again only shows BLACK.
If I PLAY the project the CIRCLE transition displays correctly - it is only when dragging the scrubber that the problem exists.
Is there a known problem with the CIRCLE transition?
Illustrator :: Bridge Shows Complete Preview But Files Open Blank Or Missing Elements

After an external backup drive had its partition deleted we used recovery software to get as many files back as possible. It sorted the files by types but gave them all numbers for names. Using bridge to preview the illustrator files, most show a thumbnail, some just a small illustrator icon. When I try to open the files, some open no problems.
Some of the files are collections of vector art (multiple clipart in one file). In the preview that Bridge shows, the file is complete and all art is there. When I try to open some of these files, I get error messages like:
"Can't open the illustration. The illustration contains an illegal operand.
##.####.##
%##.####.####.###.....etc."
And when I click "OK" the file is either missing some of the artwork or it is completely blank. How does the preview show the complete file and when opened it's either missing elements or blank?
Paint Shop Pro :: X6 - Picture On Preview Area Does Not Fill The Frame
Oct 26, 2013PSP X6. In the Manage workspace, in preview mode, the picture on the preview area does not fill the frame but about 3/4 of it leaving the right and bottom ends empty. It is the same with the 64b and 32b vertions.

Jan 31, 2011I have hardly ever used filters for any of my work as I have preferred using Xara's native tools and effects to get what I wanted. But recently, I was inspired by some animation work which used backgrounds painted in Photoshop. They used a lot of textures which enhanced the look of the animation and so I thought I'd try to simulate it within Xara.
It works very well and I can export it as a PSD retaining the layers and Alpha channel. But here come my questions.
1. How can I remove the two Alien Skin demo plugins as I already have the full versions.
2. Why don't the native Photoshop plugins--Artistic, Sketch, etc.--seem to work?

I have figured out how to create a schedule for each level, but I want to isolate only the Dormitories and the Kitchenette (weed out all the other rooms such as corridor, elevator, storage, toilets, showers, stairs, trash, electrical, etc.).
I tried using seclusion filters, but there are too many items to exclude and cannot fit them all into the 4 filter categories. I am trying to just get the rooms that begin with 'D' and 'K'. I tried providing the variable 'Begins With' for D and in the next line 'Begins With' K, but then nothing shows up.
Is there a way to provide information to the filter that would allow it to show only rooms beginning with D AND K? I cannot seem to get it to work. I have been playing around with separation values within one filter category (i.e. 'Begins With' D, K) but apparently you cannot add multiple variables within one of the filter items.
Photoshop :: Sharpening With CS2
Nov 28, 2006I am pretty new to Photoshop but learning fast. This is my first post so if it should have been in Beginner's section please let me know. My question is, is there real value in the Sharpener Pro or Photokit Sharpener plugins over using the CS2 unsharp. I am currently converting RAW files to LAB and sharpening the image on the L channel then returning the image to sRGB.

May 26, 2008I use the lab colour system for sharpening my images, Ive done it loads of times with no probs. Tonight though; when I select lab colour from the menu my image goes black! I still get the four channels - Lab, Lightness, a and b but the lab channel is black instead of the usual full colour image, anyone had this happen to them?
