View 9 RepliesI have about 100 images similar to the example below where the background is a neutral grey, darker at the edges then becoming lighter as it reaches the image subject. I'm looking for a way to lighten the grey background without have to mask the item in the center.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a picture of a baseball player with grandstands and spectators in the background. To focus attention on the subject, I want to blur and slightly darken everything but the player (subject).
So I duplicated the background layer and created a mask over the player. Then I selected the background layer, added lens blur, and darkened it.
The problem is that this step blurs the image of the subject in the background, causing it to extend out beyond the masked image of the subject on the foreground layer, creating a ghostly "halo" effect.
I've tried creating an inverted mask on the background layer, but that doesn't work.

I want to edit a photo of a car so that the car remains in colour and the background changes to black and white (or should I say mono?). I have seen this several times and wanted to have a go myself. I understand that it can be done in Elements using layers?

View 6 Replies View RelatedIf I have a red flower on a multi-coloured background, and I want to make the background black. I select the flower using the magic scissors (tried selecting by colour but nothing happened), invert, then whichever method I follow to achieve the black background, it's always the flower that changes colour, not the background. I've tried not inverting it, it gives the same result. I can only change the colour of the selected subject, not the background. I have followed all the steps in different tutorials, always with the same result. GIMP 2.8.4.

I seem to be having problems when I lasso round a specific part of a photo taken with a white background and then try to add that part of the image to a plain #000000 black background.
I always seem to get a white outline around the image when I place it on the black background, even when its on ZERO feathered. I don't like using feathered as it adds a smudge round the outside of the image.
Say I have a bunch of pictures, and I want to place each of them on a certain (bigger) background, is there a way to do this in an efficient manner instead of opening up each photo and manually putting it on the background and then saving them individually?
So for example, I have a bunch of pictures taken and they're say, 100x100. And I have this background that's say 150x150 and I want to have each photo with the background behind it. Is there any way I can do this efficiently? Photoshop CS3 on Windows XP SP3.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have written a few words and created also a transparent background (I think...)
What I would like to do now is to place a photo as a background to the text I already have. Is that possible or do I have to start with the photo?
I have a jpg 350 x 250 with a white background and a photo of a girls face within a round circle in the center.
I Tried to create a transparent background it did not work for me, so I used the background eraser tool (psp12)
So now I have a circular image with a transparent background.
I have another Image of the same size and I want to place this round image 350 x 250 with transparent background on top of the second image 350 x 250. How can I do this ?
Anyway, I have a simple graphic that has a white background. I want to put it on a webpage that is not white. So I want the white area on the graphic to be transparent.
Easy way to do this?
I am trying to place a black background on a drawing so once it is printed it will be easier to read. I place a solid hatch in a boundary and use the DRAWORDER command to place in underneath everything else, but when I plot the dwg to pdf the black hatch comes out grey in the pdf (see attached pdf)
Is there an alternative that I can use to add a black background to a dwg?
The stroke only shows up when I save the file as a pdf as I zoom in the line gets smaller and smaller but never goes a away. In InDesign and on the PSD file the edges look fine just all white around the "horsefly"

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a number of pictures where background is dull or boring while subjects in foreground are lively. So I want to switch the background with lets say a plane color with some gradient to give it a studio appearence.
The first problem I have is to select the foreground subject sharply, much difficut because of hairline etc.
So how can I select my subject in the most easy way so that outlines are sharp & none of the details are missing.
I am involved in a major project where i need to imprint the subject's name on the photo. They will be posted on the city web site and on poster collage. Is this something I can do in Elements 9? There will be aaproximately 2000 photos.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using Photoshop CS6. I have a question about Photoshop command Place.(File- Place) . Here are some pictures below. It shows the problem.
I opened the PSD file that has a green circle(picture 1) and using Place command to import other PSD file that has a red circle(picture2). Those 2 PSD files are same size, same canvas size, 1024x1024. So it should place the red circle precisely on the green circle, but as you can see, if I import the red circle PSD into Green circle PSD, Place command won't place the red circle pensively on the green circle. There is a gap between those 2 circles.(Picture3) It's really frustrating, because I have to move the red circle layer manually to place it just onto the green circle.
This command "Place" isn't reliable, so usually I don't use this command, and use Duplicate layer or group to import contents of other PSD, but if Place command can import other PSD file without this gap problem, I will use it because it's much faster than duplicating.
Do you know why and how to place those 2 files without the gap? Is it a glitch? I should not use Place command to import other PSD file?
