Photoshop :: CS6 - Images Saved Not Showing In Preview Finder To Upload Or Open
Jul 1, 2012
When saving images in CS6 I can see them as preview icons of the image in finder by itself, but if I open a file in photoshop to find an image, i only have titles and not the images. ALSO when I go to upload an image to blog or facebook, again I have no image icon of what is there, only a blank space and a file name. I HATE THIS as it makes it takes too much time to figure out where the picture is. I am a graphic artist and a painter and I cannot work like this. Does not matter what type of file.. tiff, png, jpg etc... there is no image to see when opening through photoshop or any upload situation. I am able to see the images from FINDER by itself or if I am placing them into MUSE or INDESIGN.
Why I cannot see them to load on blogger or facebook or to open them in photoshop.

I opened and modified several JPEG images with Photoshop CS2. Now none of these files can be opened by Photoshop or any other program. All of the files seem to have a non-zero size, but when I try to open them in Photoshop, it does not generate an error, it merely offers to create a new file with the same image properties (size, etc) as the saved image on disk.
I've also tried several other programs to open these files, and none of them can open them. FYI, one thing that all of the files have in common is that they are all saved with the absolute minimum compression settings.
My Ricoh GR creates DNG files that have previews in the Finder. But because the file sizes are big (and I don't need them so big), in Lightroom I reconvert them to Lossy DNG (using compatibility with Camera Raw 7.1 or later). Now, after this conversion, these new DNGs don't have any previews in the Finder anymore.
So, the problem must be with the DNG converter in Lightroom!
When I click on File>Open The dialog box no longer has a thumnail preview. Only a small grey box hovering on the right that says "Initial View" with a check box. I have attached a snapshot of my Autocad File> open dialog box so you can see what I'm getting on my end.
If I browse for files in windows explorer and change view option to thumbnail I can see the thumbnails just fine.
I've tried everything but I cannot get back my File> Open thumbnail preview.
In Tools> Options I have the thumbnail preview settings all set to save thumbnail preview image. Nothing has changed that I know if for the thumbnail preview to go away.
It's really slowing me down not being able to have thumbnail preview in the file> open dialog box.
I recently saved an image on Photoshop CS6 as a PNG file so I could send it as an attachment to a client (who uses a Windows computer). They told me the file wouldn't open and instead showed as an "Unknown File".
I tried opening the file on my Windows computer, as well as a JPEG version to test out, but both came up as "Unknown Files".
The only way I could transfer the files I saved in Photoshop was to export them as PNG through the 'Preview' application.
Is there a reason why these normal formats won't open properly?
Virtually all of my DNGs from the last four years do not display properly when previewed in OSX's Finder or opened in the Preview app. Everything in Lightroom works just fine. I note that the "linear" option is off (seems to be the default) when I import from the SDHC card to LR. I have LR "Copy as DNG" and I apply nothing other than a renaming of the file (filename.date.dng).
I've dumped the files in Library/Quicklook but that doesn't do anything.
All the importing has been done with the latest version of ACR (Camera Raw 7.1 is the latest I have).
When I use Quicklook (spacebar) in the Finder or open the file using Apple's Preview app, all I see is a large black rectangle sometimes with some "noise" appearing in the frame. Yet LR has no trouble and I can export as jpeg or tiff without any issue.
I'm running 10.8.4 fully updated. I've dumped all the caches and cleaned everything using Onyx and restarted. Still not working.
The only thing I've noticed is my older DNGs (which came from a Fuji S9100) are 12-bit (and I -can- see those files in Finder preview and the Preview app!) whereas the newer DNGs (from 2009 and newer) which were shot with my S100fs are 14-bit. All the newer DNGs have the problem.
I have CS6 and am using Photoshop, but when I try to open any image on my desktop the `open with` option does not include Photoshop CS6, only other Adobe applications; even when I browse I can only find the Adobe systems file, with the .exe doc; I have a lot of images to edit, preferably without having to open Photoshop and individually open them from their folders; how to make Photoshop CS6 `open-with`-able for any desktop/external hard drive images?
I'm using Photoshop CS5 on a mac. The photos saved in jpeg is only recognised by photo editing software. E.g. photos are unable to upload to facebook, nor view on a PC unless using paint.
Every version of Photoshop on MAC platform before CS6 gave me a path to my image in the finder when I right-clicked or Control Clicked on the title bar. Now I get information I can easily get elsewhere and there's no intuitive way to get my path information.
This is inconsistent with other CS applications as well. after saving an image it works, then if I leave the image open, click on another image, then click back to the one I just saved, the option list is different when I right click.
I've drawn some drawings on gimp and I've tried to upload them to deviant art and some othersites, but it keeps saying that it cannot use this file.Is there anyway to be able to upload it without this happening?

Working on a WordPress site. Some images I upload work just fine, others won't display. Noticing the ones that don't in Bridge are marked as "untagged."I'm guessing that is the issue. So I've tried the following to ensure they are sRGB.
A. In Photoshop Image>Convert to Profile>sRGB (Then either saving as a JPG or using Save for Web)
B. In Save for Web>JPEG>Progressive>Embed Color Profile is off>Convert to sRGB checked
Despite using either method images are marked as untagged.
This seems to be happening to large files in general, but happens more often when saving down from CS6 to CS3 (for preflighting). The files will save, then throw this error when re-opening. The preview of the file in the Finder will disappear and the file becomes useless. We are on Macs running 10.6.8 and Illustrator CS6 (fully patched).
I am having problems uploading my pictures into a sight called
[URL].......
and the pictures keeping the right color quality. I have been using Photoshop CS5 extended for about a year now, I never had a problem with colors before but now when trying to upload into
[URL]......
and they are looking very saturated instead of bright and bold colors like should. I don't know what is wrong if it's Photoshop or snap fish. I have been trying to contact snapfish and figure the problem out with them as well. I can take my images from one computer to another and they are still bright and bold until I try to upload them into
I am trying to upload images around 40k to a website but it tells me images must not be less than 200k and to upload higher quality images instead. I have tried everything including save as and save for web, etc., to no avail.
Recently purchased Elements 11 and cannot load Raw images from also recently purchased Nikon D600. Is there a download and if so where is it and how does it work?
I save a photo that I've edited in photoshop cs5, either jpeg or tiff, and when I go to Lightroom 3.6 I can not locate the file. It shows up in bridge under the right location. I reinstalled both Lightroom and photoshop and no change.
I have a Canon EOS Rebel T4i and am using Photoshop Elements 11. I have successfully been uploading images, raw and jpeg until yesterday. There is no plug in sound when I wire to the USB port and my images will not upload. However, they load successfully to my laptop.
So I have photoshop CS5, when I go and open a image and select it, in the preview thumbnail it shows the orignal file, without the edits but when I open the file it shows the cropped version. Is there any way I can get the original since it's showing in the thumbnail preview??
But changes are visible in drawing preview/thumbnail. Also, random changes are saved. For instance some changes I made yesterday and saved are not showing up while changes I made today are. Essentially I am missing most of my work from today. I did save the drawing as 3 different drawings prior to closing and each drawing now shows something different.
I have a Nikon D7100 with two memory cards. I'm trying to upload the images to Lightroom 5. For some reason, Lightroom has uploaded only about 170 images from the second disk. It doesn't seem to know that there are more images on that disk which have not been uploaded. And it doesn't seem to know that there are more than 700 images on the first disk, none of which has been uploaded. What should I do?
Problem with a photo preview not showing when I size for a print. (e.g) All I get is a very, very small pinprick of a image? What do I do to get the correct preview window shown of image for the size I wish to print, and the photo is shown correct?
We are getting loads of RAW files together with xmp files from our photographers and then do a central post production on them. Our photographers are requested to add certain information into the metadata fields by using lightroom. So they add (by using a template or by doing it manually) certain information for each image - e.g. ratings.
Then they upload all the images together with the xmp files - we do get 2 files per image. If we download e.g. an raw image together with that xmp file and store on our disk and then start LR4.4 to do some further work, the metadata fields are not set. (if we use however a text editor) to look into the xmp file then the requested information is there.
If we now simply download the provided xmp again, LR detects a change in the metadata fields and reminds us on that. By clicking on "read metadata from file", we can then see the correct metadata information. So it looks by just downloading a pair of files (raw and xmp) and then import into lightroom , the xmp file is either NOT read at all or only partly. (i believe the first)
Any way to force LR to read in and apply the metadata from an existing xmp on import ?
some more information:
- LR5 Beta behaves the same way
- some photographers add owner/copyright information into the camera (e.g. by using eosutility in the canon case) - this is stored in the raw (cr2 for canon) file and lightroom does show this information correctly
- i only need to open the xmp file in an editor and save - then LR detects changed/updated metadata information and displays the little arrow which then allows to read/import the metadata information from the file - and then all is fine and the information from the xml file is shown in LR.
Here is the workflow:
- photographer imports images into their local lightroom and do some modifications - mainly add metadata information
- photographers provide the cr2(nef) files together with the xmp files to us (upload)
- we download and import the files into LR and rework them and finally export to jpeg including metadata - !!! if LR does not correctly use the provided metadata information from the xml file during import then we end up with jpegs including incorrect/missing metadata
- we publish the jpegs to sell them and the websoftware does provide certain features or not, depending on the metadata (which is wrong in these cases)
- we only recognize the problen then and have a lot of work to recreate correct jpegs with correct metadata files
Not very technical but just upgraded my camera to a Canon 6D and tried to upload my raw images to LIghtroom v 4.4. Keep getting and error message that it does not recognize the files.
I have an issue with a transparent image. So, I have an image of someone & I want to paste an image of a transparent heart around their face, which I also have. I open the heart in Paint.net & notice the checkerboard background, which means that the background is transparent. I then copy & paste it onto the image of the person but the heart still has the checkerboard background instead of being transparent & it is covering the face. Also, when I saved the heart image on my Mac desktop, the thumbnail had a white background but when I opened it in Preview & iPhoto, it was transparent.
PS: I have Parallels Desktop so I'm running Mac & Windows side-by-side.
Is it possible to either print or save an image that shows the crop lines from Lightroom (i.e. shows what is both in AND out of the image as it is cropped). I'm working off a scanned negative and I want to show my printer just how to crop the image. She was hoping to see both what's inside and outside the crop? Possible to get that to her either by printing that from my computer or emailing it to her?
So I want to import some pics and this statement comes up, " Preview unavailable for this file" see attached. I imported the pics once and then realized that I did not batch name them like I always do. So I deleted them from LR then renamed them in Bridge, then tried to important them again, it is a no go. So I have LR 4.1, I use Mac book pro, Mac os x version 10.7.4. I am pulling these pics off of my external Hard drive, I have never run into this problem before when I was using LR3.
