I have a Toshiba laptop. When I use the type tool in photoshop, and press either the enter key on the alpha pad or the enter key on the number pad, it does not do a line break. It behaves as if I meant to finish using the type tool. I have flashed my bios and even completely reinstalled Vista (because it was having some other errors as well with Windows) and I still get the problem. Any suggestions?
View 10 Replies View RelatedIn previous versions, I could Select--->All, then Select--->Modify--->Contract, which is very useful for creating frames, vignettes, etc. In CS4, after Select--->All, all of the Modify options are ghosted out (inactive) except Border, which is not at all the same as Contract.
View 30 Replies View RelatedI'm running CS4. (all updated fyi). A few days ago my tools started behaving strangely. Specifically for any tool that has multiple beneath it. Like the type tool or shape tool for instance. The problem is that when I click a tool (with a mouse OR trackpad) it auto expands. It's not supposed to do this. It's supposed to select the top most tool with a single click. If I want the expanded menu I would click and hold or right click.

When using the clone stamp tool, after making a sourse selection there is a "trail" that follows the cursor to the destination (similar to using a mouse trail so you can tell where the cursor is on a notebook computer)
When the cursor slows down at the stamp destination the "trail" catches up and covers the destination with the sourse "patch" not allowing precise targeting. It is so cumbersome to use as to make the clone stamp tool almost unusable. The density of the "patch" is not affected by opacity settings.
Is this a new behaviour for this tool in CS4? And if so can it be turned off? Do I have a problem unique to my system?
I have a problem when using the lasso tool, in the beginning I am able to use SHIFT key to add to selection and ALT key to subtract from it. However, at some point, presumably because I unknowingly press a combination of these two keys with another key, the ALT key changes behavior - the cursor changes from the "lasso minus" to "duplicate selection - two small arrows" when ALT is held.
View 9 Replies View Relatedodd behavior when using the magic wand tool for cropping a scan down to the actual image. My process is as follows:
1. Generally to scan the image with no cropped selection so the imported image is the entire scanner bed, with the image located accordingly.
2. Using the magic wand, select the image
3. Select inverse(ctrl-shift-i) yielding just the image as the selection
4. Ctrl-c to copy selection to clipboard
5. Ctrl-n to create a new image with the selection dimensions
6. Ctrl-v to paste the selection into the image
7. Crop accordingly
Today however, it seems as if the clipboard isn't responding like I would expect. What I'm getting from step 5 is a new image with the same dimensions as the entire scan with a white background, not the actual selection as indicated by the dotted border.
It's as if the magic wand tool is completely ignoring either the selection or the copy selection to clipboard process.
If I perform the same steps on a manually opened image, i.e. paste an image into a larger, white background image, selection tool to select, inverse, copy, new, paste, then it works fine.
when I use the shortcut key to increase my brush size, from 1 to 10, it increase at a 1 rate per click.
but hen I hit 10, next one is 20px. how can I change this behavior to go to 11?
I might be being really thick but my old method of managing clips and handles in a master was to perhaps conform from rushes with 75fr handles, save that conform but then in my wip master I would consolidate all sees down to 10fr. This way if I was sharing shots around the facility you could match a shot out (using the old match to segment preference rather than match to source) and it would respect the handles you had set in your master.
I can't seem to replicate that old behavior in 2013 smoke. It will either match to source or to just the segment without handles. How can I get it to match out with the handles I have consolidated?
How to change the default behavior when I draw an arc?
I want to write "arc" in the command line, and start drawing it by its center first, then its start point, and I finally the end one. I don't want the default 3 points method.
I do this faster drawing circles and trimming them, than selecting the suboptions of the arc (center, start, etc.). It should not be XD .
One of the enhancements in 2013 is that users can send models to Showcase and convert constraints into animated behaviors, however, some users wonder if there is any way to select constraints which are within the subassemblies instead of the top assembly, how would you do it?
I have selected constraints in subassemblies but they don't become behaviors. The workflow allows users to select them, but they aren't converted into behaviors.
Is there a way to change the default Resize behavior for pipes. I'd like to have it set to crown. I can change it for each pipe but that's gets tiring after a little bit.

How to change the zoom in and out behaviour of the middle mouse wheel in Windows GIMP to work without having to press the ^ (control) button on the keyboard? I'm using to zooming in and out using just the mouse wheel alone and hoping that a setting in GIMP could be changed so that it also works without pressing the ^ (control) button at the same time.
I've googled this along with a few other things over last couple of days but no luck. Can this be done?
Is there any way to set the default corner seam behavior in the sheet metal template? Right now a simple corner seam always puts a gap approximately the metal thickness, I need to make that smaller as the default behavior.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just started working with Architecture 2011, so perhaps there is some strange issue at work here, but I haven't come across it previous releases. Whenever I switch from model tab (in 2D wireframe) to a layout tab and then back to model space, the visual style automatically switches itself to "Wireframe" or "3D Parallel Project", instead staying 2D Wireframe. It is highly annoying as I have to hit the 2D Wireframe button on the Visual Style Menu everytime a switch. This also occurs everytime a hit the Save button. It won't stay put in the visual style that it should.

I have a situation where the default behavior of my rectangle tool (or any of the other shape tools) is now different. I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.5 running Illustrator CS5. It acts as though the option-shift keys are pressed, so whenever I draw an object, it draws from the center point and the dimensions are constrained, so i can only draw a square or circle, not a rectangle or ellipse. Additionally, whenever I use the selection tool, it clones the object I drag, and also constrains the positioning, so i can only drag in a 0, 45 or 90 degree angle (or multiples thereof). It's as if my option-shift keys are permanently pressed (if I actually press option-shift, the behavior persists). I tried using a different (brand new) keyboard, tried throwing away preferences, and the problem remains. I also tried booting up Illustrator CS4, and the weird problem showed up there! This behavior just started happening spontaneously. I couldn't think of anything weird that happened (a crash, a new plug-in, etc.). I can't find a preference that sets this behavior either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo after 7 solid hours of tedious UI work I was in the middle of nudging a text layer and my whole document completely disappeared. Photoshop (CC) didnt crash, it didn't populate a new window and I didn't close it, it just vanished. It's not in the recent file list and I can't find it anywhere on my computer.
I have autosave set to every 10 minutes, so I'm wondering if these autosaved files are located anywhere on my computer? Photoshop normally recovers my documents after its daily crash but as it didn't crash in this case there is nothing to be recovered!
When I move my cursor over a document tab that is too short to show the whole file name, a pop-up appears with the full file name. The pop-up covers most of the tab, making it harder to click on it. I'd like to turn off this feature. I don't see anything in Preferences to do that.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am a digital scrapbook designer and I, and several fellow designers, have just started experiencing some odd behavior in CS. It is occuring on both Mac and PC platforms and in versions of CS3 through 5.
We create 12 x 12 in (3600 x 3600 px) 300 dpi documents used by our customers as "backgrounds" for digital scrapbooking kits. We save the documents as jpg's Basline Standard, anywhere from 8-12. Sometimes, if we open a saved jpg and place (drag) it onto a new 12 x 12 document, we notice that the saved file is just a bit and sometimes as much as an 8th of an inch smaller than the new document, even though they are both 12 x 12, 300 dpi. Additionally sometimes when we drag the saved files from Finder or Windows Explorer to a new document while holding the shfit key to center placement, we're still off by that same 8th of an inch. Sometimes, if we align the horizontonal and vertical, the same jpg will be perfectly aligned and no longer too small for the 12 x 12 document and sometimes you can very clearly see the edges of the layer beneath.
This issue is driving us nuts because it just started happening recently and our customers, who very often have their finished scrapbook pages printed, have also started noticing. I don't have a clue where start trouble-shooting this.
everytime I open a new PS Extended document using CS6 on a Mac with op system 10.8.2 an old document opens. I can delete it in the tabs at the top but I would really like to open a fresh document without this step. I have removed the preferences file and rebooted PS Extended, and I have booted using the three finger option cmd shift but all to no avail as the new document open with the old file in the tabs area.
