Mar 17, 2013I'm working with Photoshop CS6 and I'm working with a lot of layers with Masks presently (I'm not sure if this is worth mentioning or not) and I'm trying to add text to my image but I keep getting an error message saying: "Could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from initializing." How do I fix this? I just had a problem where I had to re-install the software from scratch because Photoshop wouldn't open files or create any new files, but, like I said, I've already uninstalled and reinstalled it.

May 6, 2013when writing in a text box whenever using punctuation it always go to the beginning of the sentence. FOR EXAMPLE (?what time is it)i have tried changing the text engine option to East Asian and then restarting photoshop, but when reopening my exisitng work, the problem still remains.However when creating a new document the problem is gone, however i want to resolve the problem with my exisitng document i have been working on.

Aug 19, 2013I was working on a psd-file this morning when suddenly an error message appeared - saying somthing of the text engine. I canceled the error message a few times, then saved the document, closed photoshop and reopend the application. Since that moment, I was not able to open the file anymore, Photoshop just stopped making anything. But I can open every other psd-file, but not this specific one. Always when I try to open the specific file Photoshop stopps doing anything.
I tried a lot of things like deleting the font cache, trying to open the file with an older photoshop version, tried to open it with ID, AI, FW, Gimp etc.
I am using Photoshop CC on Windows 7 (64bit).

Aug 28, 2013I'm using PS CS6 13.0.5 x64 on Snow Leopard (iMac 27" late 2012). I tried to change the text engine to Middle Eastern, but after I restart PS, the program is nearly non-responsive, and it takes forever to edit text. Changing it back to East Asian solves the problem, but then again, I want to use the Middle Eastern feature...
When I use Illustrator CS6 I don't have such problems (although I have to write backwards, since there is no support for right-to-left in Illustrator in my version)

Oct 31, 2013Successfully installed & activated Photoshop CS3 on a new PC with a fresh Windows 7 Pro 64bit installation, along with Photoshop CS3 10.0.1 & Bridge CS3 2.1.1.9 updates. Bridge runs fine, but Photoshop returns the following error when attempting to launch the program, "Could not initialize Photoshop because of a program error." Attempted to resolve by the following steps:
Remove/reinstall CS3 in root directoryRemove/reinstall CS3Disable TWAIN driverDownloaded & installed latest NVidia video card drivers.
Noticed the following message in PSErrorLog.txt every time Photoshop CS3 is launched, "2013:10:31 09:41:33 sourcesOWLPanelManager.cpp : 1602 : REQUIRE failed" Downloaded & installed AdobeOwl.dll for this reason, but without success.
ALM.log prinout indicates that several steps failed, but I do not know whether this is a problem or how it might be resolved:

Photoshop :: Could Not Place The Document Because PDFL Initialization Failed
Oct 13, 2005I received a nice cd from usa with loads of actions and their corresponding filters - the problem comes when I load up the action, run it and it asks for the corresponding filter -
I browse to the filter folder, choose a filter and click ok.
Photoshop then gives me the following error:
Could not place the document because PDFL initialization failed?

After Effects :: Background Processes Initialization Much Longer In CS6
May 13, 2012When launching a render, the message "background processes initializing / this may take a while" gets stuck more than 70s in CS6, whatever the project, whereas it was never on more than 10s in CS5. We're back to the CS4 delays here.
On a side note, the multiprocessing is a bit weird:
Before it was pretty straightforward : When 10 cores were used for the render, the frames were rendered by batches of 10. With CS6 it's different : A first batch of 3 frames get rendered, then another one of 14 (!!), then I lost track of the process. Is multiprocessing so different in CS6 ?

Mar 21, 2012My X4 crashes ("Corel Paint Shop Pro X4 has stopped working" message) during the program start-up ("Initialing Palettes" of the splash screen). I have tried uninstalling and re-installing without success. I have tried installing X4 Service pack 1 without success. I updated my NVIDIA driver to the latest version, without success.

Is Adobe taking "illustrators" in mind during the PS development?
We need better and realistic natural media controls, like watercolours (what about Moxi?),impasto, etc.; a colour wheel could be better than the actual color palettes, some palette to put a selection of brushes.
Could we hope that the "artistic" side of Photoshop will be improved soon?
Photoshop :: Couldn't Initialize CS5 Because Of Using Adobe Color Engine
Jan 3, 2012Was running the latest version of Photoshop CS5 and added a second quad graphics card and 4 more monitors. Now PS will not start and I get the error message "could not initialize photoshop because of a problem using the adobe color engine."Computer has 2 NVIDIA Quadro4 NVS 420 graphics boards with 8 Samsung SyncMaster 1920x1080 monitors. If I disable 4 of the monitors CS5 starts normally. I do not have to remove the added graphics card. When I extend the desktop again to all 8 monitors I get the error above.
Is it Photoshop, NVIDIA or Windows 7?

Sep 22, 2013Whenever I try to start After Effects CC, it gets stuck on "Initializing type engine". This didn't happen on After Effects CS6, and I'm wondering what can be done to fix this. I have about 1,000 extra fonts that don't come with Windows, and if I get rid of them it works just fine. The problem is, without the extra fonts After Effects is pretty much useless to me, and CS6 worked just fine with 7,000+ fonts, so this shouldn't be a problem.

Nov 4, 2013I have a 27" iMac (late 2012) with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX graphics card running Mac OS 10.8.5.
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.0.3, and when I updated my OS to 10.9 Maverick, I began to experience several problems, including:
The dreaded spinning beachball and "Premiere not responding." "This project was last used with Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA) which is not available on your system. Mercury Playback Engine Software Only will be used.Video files - I think they were all .MOV - became "squished" to the top of the Program Monitor (movie only took up about 1/3 of program monitor window). After a long chat with Adobe Support, he indicated that the update to 10.9 Maverick was the problem, so I:
Updated to Premiere 6.0.5, but that did not fix any of the issues.Logged in as "Root," which worked for a while but I also received 3 "Premiere encountered problem and must shut down."Deleted preferences, repaired permissions, basic troubleshooting practices, etc, but problems persisted.
Eventually I restored my computer from a Time Machine backup to a day prior to the OS 10.9 update, and this seemed to fix all the issues. So I was back to Mac 10.8.5 and Premiere 6.0.3.
But the .MOV-compressed-in-the-program-monitor problem began to surface again (see photo below).
So I updated to Premiere to 6.0.5 (but not my OS - it's still 10.8.5), and the "Mercury Playback Engine" error is back.
And the .MOV files are still compressed in the Program Monitor. I have a project that I completed in 6.0.3, but is now messed up in 6.0.5.
Is the only solution downgrading to Premiere 6.0.3, and if so, must I do a clean install of the program from the DVD?
