I just upgraded to Photoshop CS3
I am trying to create a new document with text, but whenever I grab the text tool and try to draw out where to put it I get this error message:
"Could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from being initialized."
I have recently upgraded to photoshop CS3 extended (windows). The problem I'm having is the text engine will not initialize all the time. When I try to add text or modify text. I am frequently blocked because the text engine will not initialize.

View 1 Replies View RelatedTwo weeks ago I upgraded to Creative Cloud's Photoshop CS6 and up to now no problems then, all of a sudden - with the final step of a website design just minutes away I got a window warning me that something has stopped the text engine from working.
I was using the text tool and when I clicked on the layer the warning window appeared.
I cannot type text. i get a message saying :

 I'm working with Photoshop CS6 and I'm working with a lot of layers with Masks presently (I'm not sure if this is worth mentioning or not) and I'm trying to add text to my image but I keep getting an error message saying: "Could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from initializing." How do I fix this? I just had a problem where I had to re-install the software from scratch because Photoshop wouldn't open files or create any new files, but, like I said, I've already uninstalled and reinstalled it.

Saw this error listed in 2008 on CS3. Does it look like the same thing?
when writing in a text box whenever using punctuation it always go to the beginning of the sentence. FOR EXAMPLE (?what time is it)i have tried changing the text engine option to East Asian and then restarting photoshop, but when reopening my exisitng work, the problem still remains.However when creating a new document the problem is gone, however i want to resolve the problem with my exisitng document i have been working on.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI was working on a psd-file this morning when suddenly an error message appeared - saying somthing of the text engine. I canceled the error message a few times, then saved the document, closed photoshop and reopend the application. Since that moment, I was not able to open the file anymore, Photoshop just stopped making anything. But I can open every other psd-file, but not this specific one. Always when I try to open the specific file Photoshop stopps doing anything.
I tried a lot of things like deleting the font cache, trying to open the file with an older photoshop version, tried to open it with ID, AI, FW, Gimp etc.

I am using Photoshop CC on Windows 7 (64bit).
I'm using PS CS6 13.0.5 x64 on Snow Leopard (iMac 27" late 2012). I tried to change the text engine to Middle Eastern, but after I restart PS, the program is nearly non-responsive, and it takes forever to edit text. Changing it back to East Asian solves the problem, but then again, I want to use the Middle Eastern feature...

When I use Illustrator CS6 I don't have such problems (although I have to write backwards, since there is no support for right-to-left in Illustrator in my version)
I'm trying to label parts of an engine photo with the text feature in GIMP. However, after I have typed my text and press enter or escape, it always leaves a yellow and black hyphenated rectangular frame around the text. How do I get rid of this frame so that only the text will be left?
View 4 Replies View Relatedtrying to copy txt from an outside text editor and pasting them into an open, editable text layer in my workspace. The problem is that I can COPY the text fine, but when I click over to PS to paste it into the open editable text layer it either pastes the previous text from my clipboard OR it won't paste anything at all. I can then go into any other text field on a browser, spreadsheet document, a different text editor, notepad, etc and successfully paste the proper batch of text I wanted to paste into PS. Sometimes I have some rather large files open 50+megs when I notice this happen. I have to save my work and close out entirely of PS and then open it again before I can begin editing my original document again and successfully paste the text into the open editable text layer. This may last for a few COPY/PASTE sessions of additional text in additional text layers, but then begins displaying the symptoms I described above.

I am on Win7 on an AlienWare M17XR3 laptop with 16G RAM and AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series display adapter.I assume it's either in my PS performance settings which I have PS using 10413MB RAM and has over 350G scratch disk space. If it's not that I guess my laptop system performance settings which I've never tinkered with since I purchased it.

Simple question:
am trying to edit a text layer but i am unable to open the text box to change text.
It creates a new text layer everytime i click on the layer.
Text is allowed only on the outside of a rectangle shape. The text cursor disappears when I try to enter it into the rectangle and when I place it on the edge of the rectangle, it rurns into a slanted "A" and allows texting on the border of the rectangle. Corel Paint Shop Photo Pro X3 (build date Sept 7, 2010). This software came with my new HP Pavilion dv7.

This Works Fine But How can i WRAP TEXT....of Address field.
When I insert text with either the TEXT command or MTEXT command, the text is displayed mirrored. This doesn't seem to have anything to do with the MIRRTEXT variable because that is used when I'm actually mirroring the text. In my case, the text is mirrored as soon as I insert it. How can I get it back to normal? Is there a variable I'm missing?
I'm using AutoCAD LT 2012 .
i switched gimp 2.6 to 2.8 and new text tool behaves strangely, as i remember in gimp 2.6 when i try to change text content with selecting old text and pasting new text i could use same text size and same font with my old text without doing anything but now in the gim 2.8 whenever i try to change content of a text layer i need to choose again font and text size from toolbox options, but why do i have to do this, i have a text placed on my image with a certain font and certain font size and i just want to alter my text conten not the size of text or font , it changes automatically to back text size and font whatever i used last time in another work.
summary: i want to change my text content without setting my font and font size properties, i want to use my text layers old properties

I have PsCS3 and PsCS4 installed side by side in the default folders assigned by Adobe but have shifted my Bridge CS4 Cache (containing all the thumbnails and previews) from C:Documents and Settingsetc to a subfolder within My Documents, which I had previously moved to my F: drive - my main data drive.
I have found Bridge CS4 to be much more stable than Bridge CS3. Additionally, Bridge CS4 has certain features which make it more attractive and easier to use than Bridge CS3. I want to use Bridge CS4 in conjunction with PsCS3 until Adobe has sorted out the problems with PsCS4 - which at the moment is simply unuseable on my rather old and humble system. Code:
with Photoshop CS3 on XP-Pro and would really like to learn if there is some why to get it to work as well as PSCS2 (9.0.2)?
Example: I open a white canvas 20x 30" @ 300ppi. On this I 'Place' 4 small websized (400x600px) images as 'Smart Objects' and then add a layer mask to each (a 154mb image when open). Even as I'm placing the 3d image PS10.0.1 is slowing to a crawl and the scratch file has already grown to 6.3GB. Add a few layer masks and the whole thing becomes unusable. PS freezes with "Not Responding" and then 20 or so seconds later it recovers with a scratch disk that's grown by another GB. Every time I move an image around on the canvas PS freezes again. FINALLY after about 5 minutes of poking at the thing the scratch file maxes out at 8.56GB and I can then do what I want with the image and CS3 starts to perform in an acceptable fashion. If I 'purge' the cache I'm right back to the staggered performance. Same image on my laptop behaves the same and scratch file grows to 9GB.
Same image in CS2 (PS9.0.2) opens immediately, performance is right there ready to go. I can do whatever I want, as fast as I wish, and PS9 just keeps up. The scratch file maxes out at around 1.5GB.
I'm running an Intel mobo with an E6600 Quad, 4GB RAM that I run with and without the 3/GB switch (via a boot menu). Main drive is a 10k Raptor and I have two 15k Atlas SCSI drives, one empty one dedicated as PS's scratch disk. History states is set to 10 and cache to 6. This is otherwise a very fast PC that pretty well matches Mac dual Xeon's performance in the Driver Heaven Photoshop benchmark test (I was curious <g>). So why is PS-CS3 so darn Pokey :-((
I really don't know where to start with fixing this as the same behaviour occurs on other computer's I've tried it on. I have not yet seen PSCS3 perform well on ANY PC I've tried it on. Does CS3 always create such HUGE scratch files compared to CS2? Is everyone just living with this sort of performance and accepting it as the price for getting the new features? Other posts here seem to point to a 'networked printer set as the default' issue. Did that, didn't help. And if that were so easy then it would seem like something begging for a small patch from Adobe to fix it. Lots of pros out there with networked printers..
I now shoot with both a D300 and D3 so I have to use BridgeCS3+ACR if I want to continue that preferred workflow. But processing in BridgeCS3 and then working in CS2 is frustrating. Except for very basic chores I'm finding PS10 to be unusable.
Is there anything I can pull out of PS10 to get it to be more lean and mean?
in PSCS3 I am now unsure as to weather or not it is worth it to upgrade. I will probably be getting mine (CS3 Web Premium) today and I am thinking about not installing it but sending it back. I have a very nice working full PSCS2 suite and have been using the no-expire PSCS3 beta and from what I have read so far the new version has a lot of problems. If I install it as an upgrade, I don't think I will be able to use CS2 anymore and I don't want my PS to keep crashing and posing new problems when my CS2 is fine. So I am now stuck with this dilemma... keep it and hope they send out patches and fix the errors or just send it back and wait till they fix the errors. I have not heard any good things about CS3 so far and also they changed a lot of the shortcuts, not sure why as we all are used to the ones that they already had? I don't want to spend all this money only to have crashes, loss of work, aggregation and be wishing I had waited. So far the upgrade seems like a downgrade...

I have a 5 layer PSD file. I have opened up the animation palette. I set the tween between the images (can't you select the first frame, the last frame, set the tween and it will insert between ALL 5 frames (not wiping out frames two through 4)?) and now am stumped. How do I save the animation as an animated gif file? If I am going to take the file into Flash, can I just use the animated psd file?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been running PSCS3 for quite a while. I just installed it into a new system. Just about every time I try to shut it down, it takes 5 minutes or more to shut. Often I need to use the task manager to close and it takes several attempts to close.
FWIW, Bridge CS3 can have the same problem.

trying to import video to layers by going >file>import>video frames to layers... then selecting my avi file, an options box then appears but the preview area is blank and when i look in my layers window all the layers (500) are blank!
