3ds Max :: Source Game Engine Level Design
Jul 25, 2011do level design and/or design anything for the Source Game Engine. For those of you who do, here is a new series of videos I've started to walk you through the steps it takes to get 3ds Max setup to properly export your levels into the Source Game Engine.
basic Max setup (proper units setup, snapping to grid, etc) and end up with exporting your level, building concave models, lighting and more. I've taken the approach of walking you through the process, pointing out tips to make the process efficient. Since there are a lot of tutorials online that already go into the technicality of various Source tools (Hint brushes for example).
AutoCAD Inventor :: Importing Design Accelerator Components Into Showcase?
Feb 3, 2013When I import an Inventor model to Showcase, bolted connections are missing the bolt. I get the washers and nuts but the bolt is gone. I can overcome this by saving the bolt part in a project folder but this is time consuming.
Are there some settings I am missing or is it just another item to add to the fixit list?

Sep 14, 2009I'm using Inventor 2009.
Imagine a flat, rectangular plate with origin plains located symmetrically down the middle of the plate. Place a component, say a small cube, and constrain it to the face of the plate and the origin planes so that it too is symmetrically located. I now wish to pattern this cube about the midplane and create a total of five instances. I select "Pattern Component" in assembly mode and select the cube. For direction 1, I put in two instances and select an edge of the plate so that the pattern is taken to the left of the midplane. For direction 2, I again select two instances but pick an edge so that the pattern is taken to the right of the midplane. I now should have a total of 5 cubes but I don't. I have 6.
The second pattern is actually a repeating pattern of the first which, in the end, creates too many cubes. Visually, it looks correct because the cubes are placed excatly on top of each other. Numercially, like in BOMS, it is not correct.
Is there a way to avoid these duplications?

Dec 26, 2011I want to create one Spur Gear in inventor with equations such that i can build more gears from this base model using excel table. For. Eg. I would like to create a gear with 40 No. of teeth of 10DP, and 20°PA, with Pitch Circle Dia, Base CIrcle Dia, Tooth Thickness based on spur gear calculations.
Now i would like to create a series of such spur gears with varying no. of teeth, i.e. 42, 44, 46, 48, 50..etc. Now if i change the No of teeth ,Accordingly the gear should modify its pitch dia, Base circle dia, Tooth Thickness which would be noted in the Equation.
how to create thes equations and use these in creating gear with different no. of teeth.

Unfortunately the profile view bands don't populate the labels until after my command is complete making it not possible to modify them in one command. Is there a way to update the band to have it show the labels?

Revit :: Create Island Family With Cabinet Components
Oct 20, 2011I am trying to create an Island family with cabinet components nested into the island family. I have included both a 3D view of what I want the island to look like and a floor plan of what I have right now. I want to be able to adjust the size of each of these cabinets with a parameter. But I am not sure how to get them to stay lined up like they are right now.
If I change the size to a larger size the center cabinet overlaps the cabinet on the right. but if I add another reference plane to the right side of the center cabinet, when I try to adjust the size I get an error message saying "Constraints are not satisfied".

Sep 25, 2012Starting a new Mold Design. When I try to place my part, I get an error message that says... "Errors occurred during create. Plastic part: Create Failed."
How do I determine what the problem is with my part I'm trying to bring in? This was a part that was brought in from a .step file, then saved it as a .ipt. No problems that I can see with the .ipt, but Inventor Mold does not like it for some reason.

Mar 6, 2013I am trying to create an intersection design using the Intersection Tools in C3D 2012. I followed the steps in the tutorials, created a corridor on the major road, splitted the regions, created the intersection and added it to the major road corridor, and connect the regions with the intersection portion.
I used the same assembly throughout the design just for simplicity, however, i notice that there are gaps of curb between the curb return section and the through section (as outline in red rectangles).

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Error / The Microsoft Jet Database Engine Cannot Open The File
Aug 28, 2012We are using AutoCAD Civil 3D Land Desktop Companion 2009 on all machines and one of our machines is getting the message "Error opening Point Database" and then gives the project file pathcogopoints.mdb.
It also gives the message "The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data." It is not opened by another user and permissions have been given for all machines to access these files.
Background information: We move older projects to an external hard drive for archiving and occasionally need to access them as the need arises. We have done this successfully for some time without issue, but now one of our machines is giving the above error. The other machine, which the external hard drive is connected, does not have this problem. We tried moving one project file back to the original location and it seemed to work okay, but another file did not. Some files were created using an older vrsion of AutoCAD, but that has not been a problem with opening them in the past. All sharing permissions to the external hard drive have been checked and seem to be working properly.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Engine Assembly - Crank Shaft Turns Different Direction?
Apr 27, 2012I create a engine assembly and used "Drive Constrain" to rotate the crank shaft. The animation shows the crank shaft turns continuously in one direction. However, when I animate the constrain in Inventor Studio, the crank shaft turned in two different directions (see the vide file attached).
May I know why the crank shaft turns different direction?
