AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Error / The Microsoft Jet Database Engine Cannot Open The File
Aug 28, 2012
We are using AutoCAD Civil 3D Land Desktop Companion 2009 on all machines and one of our machines is getting the message "Error opening Point Database" and then gives the project file pathcogopoints.mdb.
It also gives the message "The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data." It is not opened by another user and permissions have been given for all machines to access these files.
Background information: We move older projects to an external hard drive for archiving and occasionally need to access them as the need arises. We have done this successfully for some time without issue, but now one of our machines is giving the above error. The other machine, which the external hard drive is connected, does not have this problem. We tried moving one project file back to the original location and it seemed to work okay, but another file did not. Some files were created using an older vrsion of AutoCAD, but that has not been a problem with opening them in the past. All sharing permissions to the external hard drive have been checked and seem to be working properly.
I was working on a psd-file this morning when suddenly an error message appeared - saying somthing of the text engine. I canceled the error message a few times, then saved the document, closed photoshop and reopend the application. Since that moment, I was not able to open the file anymore, Photoshop just stopped making anything. But I can open every other psd-file, but not this specific one. Always when I try to open the specific file Photoshop stopps doing anything.
I tried a lot of things like deleting the font cache, trying to open the file with an older photoshop version, tried to open it with ID, AI, FW, Gimp etc.
I downloaded the Photoshop CS6 trial verion yesterday and it worked great for afew hours, but I closed it and now every time I try and open it there's an error message "Adobe Photoshop CS6 hs encountered a problem and needs to close" what could have cause this and how do I fix it? I have windows XP and everything is up to date
Recently our company upgraded to office 365 with Microsoft Access 2013. I cannot seem to connect to this new format using the task manager. We used to use quite an old version, 2003 I think with no worries.
Am I doing something wrong or have the developers missed something quite fundamental to Map 3d?
I get a window popping up that says "Cannot open database C:ProgramDataAutodeskACA 2011enuDetailsDetails (US)AecDtlComponents (US).mdb." I have reinstalled ACA 2011, I have copy this same file from another computer, verified the permissions etc... I can click ok and keep working but it randomly will pop up 3-4 or 5 times in a row and I cannot link it to any one event (Can’t cause it to re occur) Also, I cant access the details component manager.
what other programme you can open survey databases in? Up until about Civil3D 2011 you could open them up in MS Access, but the type of database has been changed and I can't do that anymore.
The reason I want to do this is that opening the database in Civil3D does not expose all of the contents of the database eg. prism constants. I would like to see the entire contents of the database.
I've been using Photoshop Elements 5.0 for a few years now on my PC running Vista. Beginning just a few days ago (and unconnected to any updates of which I am aware), I started getting an error when I tried to delete or import files in the Organizer. The error says: ODBC data source [Microsoft] [ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Cannot open database "I". It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt. The photos are there - I can see them in Windows Photo Gallery. I can delete photos from there as well. Just not in Organizer. Wondered if anyone might be able to point me in a good direction for a fix?
How do I "unset" a Survey Database from a file. I created a new file and set a working folder to import survey data. Now when I go to File>New to create an unrelated file, the Survey Database and related info is shown in the Toolspace>Survey tab. I don't want this in the file, how do I get rid of it without deleting any info for the previous drawing?

Recently we have discovered a problem (bug?) with the survey database. We usually import our field data from our Trimble controllers into the survey database (SDB) through Trimble Link. We have been very careful to get all the survey database settings right, so that the data comes through correctly and have been successful up until the last few weeks. We find this a good workflow, where we are able to make edits to our field data (change target heights etc) easily in the SDB and comparisons with Trimble Business Center and direct output on-screen in the controller confirm that our data is reliable. We often have both GPS (long Network RTK vectors from the nearest network base station) and total station observations in the same file.
The issue is that, as the fbk file is imported, the survey database settings change to reflect the content of the fbk file. The "Atmospheric conditions" and "Curvature and Refraction" settings, which I have purposely left unticked (the controller applies these corrections), become ticked. This throws out our heights, especially on the long GPS lines.
We do have the option for a workaround, which involves going back into the Edit Survey Database Settings after import and updating the data in the sdb, but this is clumsy.
This seems to be similar to the issue that was discussed here. However, we have only just encountered this issue in the past month or two, which coincides with when we rolled out C3D 2012 Service Pack 4 across the office. We are planning on implementing 2014 soon, so I have tried it out on 2014 as well, with the same result.
Is this something that others are dealing with too? Perhaps there's some sneaky setting somewhere that I haven't found which locks down the SDB settings preventing them from being changed on import? Otherwise, I think this is a bug.
I am also bracing myself for some comments regarding the dangers of using GPS in the SDB!
I randomly get a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error when working in Inventor. It points to Inventor.exe and says "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information." I have a Quadro video card, Win XP, plenty of RAM, no other programs running in the background.
I have autocad civil 3d 2008 in my pc. From last 2 days I got a different problem i.e. when I am selecting open / save command from File menu graphical file select explorer is not opening just message in the command window . Previously I used to select files using graphical file explorer.
I am getting a Could not open due to unexpected end of file error messages on a bunch of jpg's I am receiving via email. The files open in Microsoft Office Picture Manager.
Once I have the dwg open how do I get to the database?
Dim AcadApp As Object = Nothing Dim AcadDoc As Object = Nothing Try AcadApp = GetObject(, "AutoCAD.Application.18") Catch ex As Exception AcadApp = CreateObject("AutoCAD.Application.18") End Try AcadApp.Visible = False Try AcadDoc = AcadApp.Documents.Open("C:UsersPAULDesktopB-03-J-H135.dwg", True) Catch ex As Exception Exit Sub End Try Dim MyDb As Database = AcadApp.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument.Database
I have been re-saving many of my PSD files using CS3 image prosesssor with compatibility mode turned off. They have simply been saved again as PSD files into a different folder - no changes to the original PSD files. This has worked well and reduced file sizes by up to 50% (I had compatibility mode turned on previously).
of the 60 files I have processed, 3 will no longer open , I get a message that says "file will not open due to a program error."
these files have only ever been used in CS3. , they are quite large from just under 1GB to 1.5GB, however other similar large files have processed successfully. I have re-tried without success.
I still have the original files so no data loss is involved.
We are seeming ot have problems with a few of our engineers having the Microsoft Office product go to "Not Responding" and then closing while working in Hydraflow & Hydrographs. This has been with Outlook, Word and Excel. All workstations are 64 bit systems with 16 gig of Ram Windows 7 and Civil 3D 2012 SP2.1.
When I open a file in Inventor 2013 I get the error message "cannot open XML file" for 20 or more files.(See attachment) This has only been an issue since 2013 was installed. What do I need to do to correct this?
I very frequently get the above message, "Oject was open for Read". Its to do with annotative text objects which I just recently started using. When I get the message the piece of text I am trying to make changes to is frozen, cant delet it or anything?
Have 1 drawing where I get the Error Message - Open for Read when trying to modify linework. Try to change color, layer, close an open polyline, but can't do so due to the error message. By the way, using C3D 2012 with Service Pack 1 installed.
This error (autocad error handler re-entered, Exiting now) happen when i was opening multiple autocad file. After i pressed on the 'ok' button the program close everything without saving the work i had done.
Get this error when I try to open more than one file. Happens on different files, but especially on jobs that have side panels on packaging. The files have placed .psd images. Happens on different computers (10.6 & 10.8.2).
Can get the file open usually by closing the othere open file, but then is hard to copy and paste between files. Sometimes I get this when trying to open one file, but restarting Illustrator usually fixes this.
Have tried working directly from the hard drive, and still get this problem. Does to follow an exact pattern, can try to open file a, then b one day thsi will work another will fail. Seems like something is corrupting the memory, and usually happens with more complex files. Happens in CS5 & CS6, though I mostly work in CS5.
I'm using Autocad Civil3D 2011, Version 3. Just yesterday I noticed that the file date shown in Autocad's open file dialog box shows an earlier time than Windows Explorer, which shows the file date and time correctly. When I enter the "time" command on the autocad command line, the correct time is shown for the "last updated" time.
For example:
The Autocad open file dialog box shows the file having a time/date of 4/23/2013 3:54 PM
Windows Explorer shows the file having a time/date of 4/23/2013 4:10 PM
"TIME" command at autocad prompt returns the following:
Current time: Wednesday, April 24, 2013 3:55:35:454 PM Times for this drawing: Created: Thursday, March 27, 2008 5:49:57:104 PM Last updated: Tuesday, April 23, 2013 4:10:56:299 PM Total editing time: 17 days 15:31:26:967 Elapsed timer (on): 17 days 15:31:26:967 Next automatic save in: 0 days 00:09:58:237
I rebooted and restarted autocad, and resaved my file with the same results (although with different times-but again the autocad open file dialog box showed an incorrect, earlier time). I have never had this problem before, and it is driving me crazy as I usually sort my files by date to assure that I am working with the latest file.
My office currently has a unique keynote database for each project. When I open a file with a sheet keynote legend, AutoCAD 2010 opens up the correct database and everything is fine. This is also true when I try to plot a sheet file. However, when I plot through the batch-plot process, AutoCAD does not open the correct database.
Civil 3D 2013.One of the problems my team has is that we have a number of remote offices that all work on the same drawings. To ensure integrity of the drawings, we use a Wide Area file replication and locking service to ensure the files do not become out of sync and corrupted between offices.
AutoDesk seems to open and save files and their subordinate xrefs serially in a single thread instead of in a multi-threaded manner. Because of this there is a Huge time impact on just opening and saving files at remote sites as a result of Civil 3D having to wait for the home office file lock check on each and every file before opening the next file.
We have 100Mbit down / 20Mbit up transmission links at both sites dedicated to the file replication, with Gbit backbone in both offices.
note that the remote site has a full copy of all files in its replicated share. These local files are what Civil 3D is opening. No Files are being transferred during file open unless a remote change has just occurred (proven through replication logs).
When the drawing file is opened for editing, a file lock check is performed and Windows waits for the response to ensure it can be opened for editing before telling Civil 3D. When Civil 3D has this file open, it has a list of all the xrefs for this file. Civil 3D then seems to open each file in sequence.
This is a problem when a large latency is introduced through our 3rd party Wide area file system by a remote site file lock check.
This is not AutoDesk's fault but the compounding of the two system's operational behaviours, causing a Very long wait on file open, Save, PaperSpace operations (30 minutes for large drawings).
I would like to see a multithreaded (threadpool) file open occur against the entire list of xrefs (during save as well). Then recursively executed for all subordinate xrefs of those files until the operation is complete.
As long as a file list is maintained during the operation and updated as each file operation completes (which obviously it is) in the primary thread, this should not cause any problem. All dependancies can be opened in sequence once the initial file operations are complete and when a particular file in the list is required but not open yet, it's priority can be raised in the threadpool.
I have a emf file with microsoft graphics primitives(Created by microsoft application).I am getting the unknown format error when I try to open the file in Adobe illustrator.
