Can you save custom brush presets in CS6 for people in lower versions to install and use?? So far hasn't worked... error compatibility message. I've designed all of these things, and now only those with CS6 seem to be able to utilize!

Brush Preset in CS4?
I selected a shape and when I go to Edit->Define Brush Preset...
it is grayed out.
I tried to go to the brush palette as well and it only lets me redefine a
brush, not create a new one.
i'm trying to make a new brush from a scanned photo. now i've done this before, and never had a problem, but it seems that with this particular picture, i can't. i've selected it, erased the background, turned it to grayscale etc.. looked in the tutorials, help, in many many forums.. i made sure the feathers were turned to 0, and the option "define brush preset" remains untouchable.

I can't seem to find any other location that would be causing this issue. It's only happened since I installed CS6.
I'm unable to find a brush option for using a brush to change the density of an existing density to a preset density in the same way color fil is used to fill a tone. An example of the use would be...a shadow or reflection on a 255 white background; when the brush with the color or shade is used to paint over the background, it fills only the shadow/reflection in with the preset density. Thus allowing you to have the same exact color/density for all shadows/reflections. This is how the color fill or color setting in brushes works only that doesn't change density, only color/tone.

When you hover over a brush in the picker you get the name of the brush. I think it would work better if the numbers were replaced with the name of the brush.
I'm using Photoshop CS5 on a MacBook Air running OS X 10.8.2...I have managed to change the brush in my quick selection tool, or at least the way it looks on the screen, and I can't figure out how to get it back.
It now looks like a paint brush with light rays around it instead of the circle with the plus sign in the middle. It does not change size when the ] key is hit.
The current preset says its Quick Selection Tool Hard Round 250 1...In addition when I use the marquee tool I can not see the crosshairs when I am inside the image.The only thing I have knowingly done is to create a preset for a dashed line and imagine in doing that I have messed up the other. I have also changed the preferences for the cursor back and forth between standard and precise but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

They show up fine in the menu bar brush window, in the Preset Manager, in the Brush Preset palette above my layers palette, but they will not appear in the brush preset fly-out window. This is where I do all the manipulating of my brushes, of course, so this is essential. I have created many, many brushes and done this many, many times and have never had this problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am sure that in the past Texture settings saved when I loaded a saved Art History Brush tool preset. But suddenly, the Texture setting - specifically Depth, is not being remembered. In other words - I have saved an Art History Brush as a Tool Preset. I have then used some other brushes and experimented with texture including the Depth setting. When I go back to the saved tool preset, the Texture Depth setting has changed to whatever it was when I last used it - not its saved value. I thought the point of Tool Presets is that they save all brush characteristics.
I'm using CS6. The tool presets and their Texture attributes work fine in CS5. Maybe I need to reinstall CS6.
When using a hard-edged brush (round in this case), and using Shift+click to draw a continuous segment, the segment isn't perfectly straight at top and bottom. I know this is because of the "spacing" value of the brush, so the question is... can you make a global change for ALL brushes to have a spacing value of 1%?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am starting a Digital Media class in college and CS5 is what is setup on computers and textbooks are also about CS5 as well. They haven't upgraded to CS6 yet. I am mainly doing Photoshop, Flash Professional, and Illustrator in this class. The first program we are using is Photoshop. I have just paid for and downloaded the Creative Cloud and everything pertains to CS6.
I stick with using Photoshop CS5? Or can Photoshop CS6 be used as long as I don't use the newer parts of the program?Also will there be compatible issues in say for instance I am doing a project and going back and forth from my computer at home (with CS6) to working on it at school (with CS5)?
compatibility from CS2 to 7 and I can't seem to figure out what's wrong. I have a file with many layers made in CS2 but when I open it in 7, they're all merged - all I see is the background layer. Now before you ask, I know about the file handling settings and I made sure I have enabled "maximize psd and psb file compatibility" and version cue workgroup.

CS6 vector strokes. Any file I send with the new vector strokes can not be opened by CS5.x usersIt seems if I flatten all shape layers and smart objects, however our PSDS have hundreds of layers and even with the new search feature this is tedious. Plus you get into having two versions of a final file floating around which is a liability.

I have Photoshop CS5 32 bit installed on my PC with Vista home premium. I am buying a new PC with 64 bit Windows 7 installed, and it also has the option to upgrade for free to Windows 8 pro. Will my CS5 work on windows 7 and if I take the free upgrade will it work on Windows 8 pro?
Does it matter that CS5 is 32 bit and the new PC will be 64 bit? I don't want to get the free upgrade if it means my CS5 won't work on it, as I am happy wioth CS5 and do not need to upgrade to CS6 yet.
I've previously used CS4 and CS5 to make layered psd templates. They have always been compatible with elements and all versions of Photoshop. Now I've used PS CC and it is either just not opening or freezing up other versions of Photoshop.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running CS5.1 on a Windows 7, 64 bit machine. I've been using plug-in's from Neat Image and OnOne for a long time with no issues. Now I've installed Topaz Adjust plug-in and I'm having a problem. Randomly, when I launch Photoshop and look in Filters I will find EITHER my old plug-in's or the new Topaz plug-in. But never all three at the same time. And it is always random as to which will load at launch.

I have worked at home (Windows XP) on my Elements (it does the job well). Now, what I was wondering is if there was any way of being able to open my Elements file with the CS2 version? Or have I wasted my time?
I have no idea ......... It is important that the tutor is able to view the original file, so that they can see the layers etc.
I have tried sending the file via email, but there is no chance of attatching this file. But if I am certain that the file will open in college, then I could burn the file to disc?

One of my other Intrests is video editing and I use Nero burning software for burning my DVD's. I have been expierencing a problem latley, when Nero finishes encoding the data and is ready to burn to DVD, it says that It can not burn to DVD, I have only started expierencing this since I have installed CS Premium. So I was wondering if anybody might know if there is some kind of compadibility issues between Nero and the other programs in CS.

I´m having a problem... Photoshop is very slow... very very slow when comparated to my old pc that was a XP 32 bits and 2 giga of ram.
Could it be a problem because I´m using a 64 bits OS or using Quadcore ? Is photoshop CS3extended preparated for XP 64 bits OS and Quadcore?
I have PS CS2, client has PS CS3. Do I need to ask him to Save As or
Export in some special way so that I can open his PSD file?
I'll upgrade if that's my only choice, but I don't use Photoshop a lot,
and I was hoping to get another few years out of it.

I tried disabling 'Maximize Compatibility' and re-saving the files, but this didn't result in reduced file sizes as far as I can tell.
I seem to be getting conflicting reports about which versions of CS are or are not compatible with OSX Mountain Lion. Some rumors say that 5 is not, some say 5.5 is not, and some even say CS6 is glitchy .
