View 1 RepliesI must have fat fingered something and I now when I click on the Eraser Tool or the Brush Mask Tool instead of getting a circle or square, I get and icon of the tool instead. They still work but they're harder to use without seeing the circle or square depending on what's selected. I've been using Corel for many years and never had this happen and I can't figure out how to switch back.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWorking with CS2 on a VISTA machine. If I save a file as .psd, the file icon is the generic leaf with the PSD banner. All other "save as" will create the icon of the file showing the actual picture. I can't seem to get the picture icon to show up on .psd files. "Save as" .jpg, bmp etc. all show the picture icon fine.

i go into preferences and change it back but it keeps flip flopping
In addition to no icon showing the type of cursor (Standard or Precise) w/in PSE some cursors diplay as tripple symbols of the selected tool. For example, if the Crop tool is selected three pictures of the Crop tool display as the cursor. I have tried the Control-Alt-Shift reset w/o success.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using Elements 7 with great satification for several years now, but recently, the picture thumbnails started to show up as an hourglass icon. I updated to Elements 11 and still had the same problem. I followed some direction I found online for eliminating the catague cache, and it fixed the problem in 11, but not in 7. Till I learn to use 11, I would like to continue to use 7, so how do I fix this problem in Elements 7?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just installed CS4 on a lovely new Dell notebook with WUXGA display (1920x1200) and am having a problem that I have never seen before. When the brush tip is small (up to 35 px at 100%)Â I see the entire circle defining it, but as I move into larger and larger tip sizes the circle starts to disappear from the bottom right, becoming just a smaller and smaller circular fragment until it disappears entirely at around 300 px. If I select the center crosshair, this also disappears around 200px (when only a small circular crescent is left), and then reappears at around 400px (minus any trace of the circle). It is obviously some sort of display issue: if I change the image size the behavior is the same when the circle is the same size onscreen, so it is the display size and not the absolute pixel size which determines it. This happens whether I choose normal or full-size tip. Has anyone experienced this? It is not only annoying, it is positively serious, since at certain sizes I cannot even tell where or how large the brush is. Clear type on or off makes no difference. I have not noticed any odd display behavior with any other program.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe CS6 mixer brush stops painting and turns into a hand icon, with only the index finger out, when I paint near the top left of my screen. It's about 3 inches from the left and 2 inches from the top.
I don't have this problem in CS5.5/CS5.1 or CS5 . what the hand icon with only index finger out is for? It's not the move tool icon. I should also add that I'm using Win7 and a Cintiq. and I should add that the standard brushes don't have this problem in CS6.
My system is Win 7 64bit Home premium. See the screen capture.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy brush size circle does not show up...just the cursor. I change the size to everything from 1 to 300....nothing. Sometimes a shutdown and restart helps, so I think it may be a lack of computing power.
I can sometimes get it back by going into preferences and changing the brush size to standard then then back to brush size...but that's a pain in the but.
I've loaded a set of brushes I created into CS6. They show up fine in the menu bar brush window, in the Preset Manager, in the Brush Preset palette above my layers palette, but they will not appear in the brush preset fly-out window. This is where I do all the manipulating of my brushes, of course, so this is essential. I have created many, many brushes and done this many, many times and have never had this problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am experiencing two problems. One is the tool icons in Photoshop are disappearing on the screen. I move the cursor and see nothing on my screen.
The second problem is at other times the proper tool icon and function is not showing up and working. I select for example the pen tool and the hand tool icon show up and the function works as the hand tool not the pen tool?
I am in the Develop module trying to use the Adjustment Brush. After selecting the brush I am not seeing the window below that allows me to apply the corrections (exposure, contrast, etc.) I want. This window does show up if I select Graduated or Radial filters.
I am using LR5 with Windows 7 and have ensured that there are no LR updates avaialble. I have the latest version.
Often when working with the brush tool a very strange bug arises.Instead of the brushstrokes being visible in a normal way, the active area around the brush becomes a large square shape, slightly brighter than its surroundings. What this means is i can t see what im painting because a large square blankets the area around which im working. very strange its like the brush is selecting vectors around it as im using it.the actual painted area then become visible again when i release the mouse.i have managed to overcome by restarting LR, but is just keeps happening after using the brush tools for a while.

Zooming in to the line (600%) you can see i can draw a marquee through half of it ...

No matter what 1 single pixel brush i use this will happen... no matter which computer i use cs6 on and different copies of the installation. Anyway have any insight into this? frankly... it's somewhat limiting that i can't use the brush for stroking a shape if i need a pixel line and yet soft curves that a pencil won't get you.
I am not very good with photoshop, and if there was a brush tool setting to make it just like an actual paint brush.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThere are a few things I just don't get about brush settings. Sometimes it seems my brushes go all wonky.
When I change the settings for 1 brush... say I add some jitter to a smooth brush - then suddenly the other brushes get the same jitter applied to them.
How can I set the brushes so that each brush has a different setting that doesn't change when I change any other brush settings?
p.s. I also don't get why Adobe has you lock a brush by UNlocking it? Seems to me it should be the other way around?
I have contacted Adobe about issues with Photoshop brushes recently. My issue is that the brush size is smaller than the circle that represents the brush. In other words, when I hoover over the area that I want to paint or erase with the circle and then click, the painted or erased area is smaller that the circle. It's really frustrating when fine tuning an image, you never know how close you are to what you want to correct. This is only visible when you zoom in quit a bit. I worked with an Adobe tech for over an hour and he could not simulate the problem. Then he finally asked if I was using a retina display, (he was not).
View 4 Replies View Relatedthe brush, stamp brush and eraser tools are giving me a hard time the actual working area from the tool is so much smaller than the outside frame of it URL....
i'm using cs6.the picture i'm working with was enlarged to 400%.the brush, stamp brush tool was at size: 12px, hardness 100%.opacity 100%
in the presettings i saw the brush was set to normal size.also i played with the jitter sizes, to no avail.
When I use the Adjustment Brush in Camera Raw it frequently just gives me a pin instead of a brush. How can I fix this? I'm on a Mac in Snow Leopard.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I use the healing brush is tends to "skip". It leaves a line of circles like a stamp would instead of a flowing line like it should leave. No matter how slow I move the brush it leaves a circle and then as I continue to draw nothing happens until I reach the edge of the first circle, it then drops another circle and it continues that way as long as I draw with it. The brush tool works fine, leaves a smooth line. The Spot Healing and Patch Tool work fine but the healing brush will not heal in a smooth stroke. It skips along a leaves a tail of circles the size of the brush. I am using a fast computer, i7 processor, 16bg ram and a SSD drive so I do not think speed is an issue. I upgraded from CS4 where the healing brush worked fine on this computer
