I know that Bridge stores the actual keyword(s) with the image files but where is the overall "index" located on my hard drive?
The index is the structure that gives the instant access through the images.
I've inserted some keywords into many CR2 images via Bridge. I then moved the CR2 amd XMP files separately in to the same folder. They keywords are no longer visible, but when I open the XMP file in notepad, I can see them. How can I get them visible in bridge again?

If I can find the location, I'm hoping I can find a way to transfer them with EXIFtool. Â Barring that, another option might be to modify the FileConvertor macro to retain keywords, but that's beyond my scope.
As an aside, I can't seem to save keywords to CMX files (tried entering them through Document Properties), only to CDR's. Â Is this correct?
Long, long, keyword hierarchy. Clicking on a keyword takes the focus back up to the keyword filter box. Usually happens if I've used the filter box to narrow down the keywords that are visible. Continues even after the filter box has been cleared. Doesn't happen all the time though. It is a real pain when trying to double click a keyword to edit it as the first click or the double click causes the list to refresh showing only the top entries. The second click (of the double click) then causes whatever keyword is now under the pointer to be keyword to be edited - NOT the keyword under the pointer when I started the double click.

An ongoing office project is using LR3 to catalog 30 years' worth of images gathered from various media. Some are scans of slides, negatives, or prints; others are images straight from a digital camera. We have three people working on this cataloging project. The lead guy has created keywords on his computer that he uses to tag these images. Is there any way to make sure the keywords he's using on his machine sync with and are available to the other users of the image catalog? If not, is there a file that would have to be shared among the three users to make that functionality happen?

If I am in Library module, select filter Metadata, select Keywords from dropdown (no other filter panels selected), and start to scroll down the list of keywords, I can select keywords by mouseclick, and see the matching photos as thumbs in the main window.

However as I scroll further down, I can no longer select keywords - the mouseclick no longer highlights or selects. This happens rather incosnsistently - by which I mean, the point in the eyword list where the select stops working is not always the same place in the keyword list.

If I click several times on the same non-selecting keyword, LR4.4 jumps to taking 50% (exactly) of processor time (shown in task manager) , and the memory usage climbs steadily until all free RAM is consumed.

This is a small (~8000 image) catalogue, with ~2500 keywords, entirely non-hierarchical.

The catalogue is set to optimise on backup, weekly.

I've tried deleting and recreating the preferences file btw to no avail
#LR4 catalog:createKeyword creates a keyword inside another keyword even though the 4th parameter (parent) in the call is nil. LR3 API doc says .. 'nil to create at the top level' and thats how it worked. Looking forward to LR4 SDK documentation.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have used multiple versions of Lightroom (2, 3, 4, and now 5). Why can't I add keyword tags to multiple photos? I know that it can be done while importing, but I usually import a whole day's worth of pictures at one time and they don't require all the same keyword tags. The ones that are common I do add during import. I used to be able to highlight the photos I wanted to add tags to, go to the metadata and find find the list of keywords applied to those photos. Tags that were not common to all photos has an * beside them. If I wished to have one of these tags for all the selected photos I just removed the *, otherwise I added the new tag to the list.

After opening Bridge CS6 (and using mini Bridge), there are no thumbnails showing. I've pointed Bridge to just one folder with less than 5 photos in it and it cannot even display them. I'm running a recent Mac Pro with 16GB RAM and kick graphics card.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI want to specify which colors Photoshop can use and I'm doing that (or at least trying to) by using custom index coloring and the color palette. I am using another person's saved color table. This person saved several shades of grey and when I delete these colors my picture is affected. What is puzzling me is that deleting greys have an impact on my picture even though I am not using any grey. Is there an impact because Photoshop is blending colors within the color table to make the picture. Is grey one of the blended colors? I do not want there to be any blending of colors--I just want Photoshop to use what colors I specify.

I'm working to create a site that will have many photo galleries. And while it does work to have each gallery in its own sub directory with the main gallery page named index.htm. I would prefer to have the main gallery page renamed during the automation process for easier archiving.
I typically create graphics using index color that are black/white with some gray tones to highlight a part of the drawing. The graphics are published in a PDF document, are typically a very manageable file size and initially look great. The problem is the PDF documents are typically 500 pages and the file size is reduced in Adobe Acrobat Standard. After reducing the file size, all index color graphics appear bloched or very fuzzy when viewing the PDF on a monitor. The printed PDF document has some fuzziness but the image quality should be improved. Do you have any suggestions to improve the image quality of index color graphics in a reduced file size PDF document? Or any suggestions to create sharp black/white images with gray highlights in a better way or avoid making the image fuzzy?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been working on a drawing that requires me to take .dwg files of 3D equipment and place them into my one drawing for general arrangement purposes. I used it once before but now I'm having a slight issue when I use the flatshot command. I seem to remember Flatshot making my new 2d block at the same coordinates as the existing model and that it would be at zero in the Zed axis (x,y,0). My block now appears and various locations, even when i specify coordinates or basepoint it can be off by a good amount. Is there an option that I'm forgetting or something, so I dont have to manaully move my block back to the desired coordinates?
This isn't a major problem since I can manually match the block back up with the coordinates my model is at and then move it to x,y,0 but I feel like theres a way to ensure I dont have to worry about doing that at all.
How does one index the documents in the documentmanger collection? The intent is to cycle through the open documents one by one in a forwards or backwards direction. The specific function I want to create would take a direction argument, 1 or -1, and would switch the active document to the "next" or the "previous" document. how the documentmanager collection works.

I create lots of layout tabs with long (ish) names. To save scrolling through the tabs using the arrow buttons to select the one I want, is there a way to generate an index tab so all tabs are listed on it and can be selected from that "index" Tab/list?

When I try to export a fairly large number (about 60) images as JPG, I get an error message "attempt to index a nil value" and some images do not export. When I view the images in the library and export them individually, the export works. So I conclude that the images are not corrupt, but that there is a bug in the software.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI created plan and profile sheets using the P&P tools. Then I created a new drawing and attached (XREF) the dwg with the viewframes in it. Then I set the viewframe layer to Plot instead of non-plot and I changed the color so that it would be heavy (we use CTB).
Then when I went to my PSPACE layout to try and plot, the viewframes are NOT there. The layer IS turned on, because there's a PLINE that I drew on that layer and it DOES show up. When in modelspace, the viewframes are there and the color did change as expected.
So why do they disappear when I'm on the layout tab?
The goal is to create a plottable sheet that identifies where each sheet is (I want to point to each viewframe and lable them C-101, C-102 etc).
