Photoshop :: Border Color For Text
Dec 17, 2008
I have CS4. I want to do something that's really easy in most inexpensive graphics programs - make text with one color and put a border around the text with a second color. I made the text with Padres blue. Now I want to have a white border around the text.

I've created a round rectangle. I want the shape to be black with a white border. However whenever I finalize and save, my white border disappears and I'm just left with a black shape. Edit > Stroke is'nt highlighted.
Whenever I change the colors from black and white I dont seem to have this problem. How can I change/modify the BORDER COLOR of my shapes?

When I copy some text in Illustrator, say red text, and my color well is set to pink, the newly pasted text is now pink?
Here is a short video of the problem, me copying the top text and without changing anything, pasting it. Note the color-well is set to black

I click on the 'T' to type text and color the text, say, orange; if I then try to add a black outline to it in Edit | Stroke I notice that 'Stroke' is greyed out.
How can I add that black border around the letter(s) .

how do you make a simple border around text? I checked out the tutorial in the Teamphotoshop site, however I couldn't find "Effects" under "Layer". I have Photoshop 6 (soon gonna be getting Photoshop CS), is that the problem?
I tried to just highlight the text, expand it (or make a border, either one), and use the paintbucket tool to fill it the expanded/border area. However, it leaves off a slightly gritty or faded border.
I also tried by going into the layers, right click on text layer>blending properties>outer glow. But it still leaves a faded border.

Between the black blurred shadow and the magenta corner, there is a very little "blank stroke" surrounding the dark-magenta corner of the round square. The darker is the blurred shadow, the greater the contrast and the visibility of this blank stroke is. If I rasterize the objects it still appears (even if it's not that visible).

The RGB values of the Border color added in the Lightroom 5.3 Print Module does match the RGB values of a selected spot on the image as seen in the Develop Module. How can one get a correct color from the image itself to become the Print Module Border color? Why do these not match? How can a matching result be obtained other than the very imprecise appoach of visually trying to match the color?

A while ago, I wanted to add a border in the background color around a layer. So, I increase Layer Boundary Size using the corresponding tool. So far so good. I even wrote into a script, combined with adding drop shadow, see [URL].......
Then, I bought a new computer. I knew it. Never update or upgrade.
Now, when I increase the layer boundary size, it does increase the size of the layer, but the "border" is now transparent. I know, I know, I can fill it up using the bucket fill tool, but first of all this is annoying, and second of all, I am really wondering: what happened? Why did it work before, and doesn't it work now anymore? I am baffled. I see three possibilities:
- The GIMP installation on my new computer has some global setting differently which I am missing
- GIMP was updated and this has changed
- this is a bug, or at least a quirk, having something to do with old computer running on Win7 and new computer running on Win8

Since version CS6 (also CC) is not using the "change color" white borderbounded by the selected color. In CS5 it worked correctly.

Why is the thumbnail border for some images a different color in grid view? Please see the attached image. I can't figure out why the image on the left is a lighter gray than the two in the middle. The far right image is lighter because it is selected.

1. Get your image you want your text on. For this tutorial, I just have a basic wood background.
2. Type your text. check the box labeled "anti-aliasing" for a smoother transition. For the purposes of the tutorial, I chose a very simple white text, but you can use whatever you want.
3. Go to Layer > Layer boundary size. You'll want to have a boundary that is about double the current size, or so. You probably won't need that much, though. Unless you're trying for a really big border. :P
->
4. Go to Layer > Transparency > Alpha to selection on your text layer. This will put a selection around your text. Then go to Select > grow. Depending on the size of your text, and your desired results, you may have to play around with the amount for a bit. For this tut, I chose 5 pixels.
5. Make a new transparent layer, and place it underneath the text layer. Select the color you want your outline to be as the foreground or background color. I chose black. Then go to edit > fill with bg/fg color, whichever has the color you want your outline to be. Then go to select > none, and there you have it!

Every tutorial in the world says, if you want a border around your text, you must do the following:
1: Press the "Create Path From Text" button
2: Nope that's it it's a one-step process
How can I possibly screw this up? Well... that button... I don't see it. It is no where to be found. Where is it?

The paragraph text always shows a black dashed border (or red, when part of the text is not shown). Sometimes it is very difficult to evaluate a design/layout, when the borders are shown. So I searched an option to hide this border, but did not find any. How to hide this border?

I am trying to tag doors in a drawing. What I want to see is the door size, so I turn on 'width' parameter, and turn visibility off on the border of the text. Change the size of the text to match, easy enough. Now I want to place the text along the open door in the floor plan view, but the tag always jumps to the center of the door frame. Can this be modified to do as I want? is there an alignment parameter I can alter? Perhaps tagging the door family and aligning it in the family editor? Does Revit is capable of doing this. Until then, I have to place the text for each individual door.

I am trying to use the function to outline a border to text with the function "Path to text" but no matter how I try the path will only use 16-19 letters in one row.
I have read several guides on how to do this and no one mention anything about this issue. As long as I have 16 letters on one line it works, but I have more it will just skip them.
I write the text:
12345678901234567890
Then I click an choose "path to text", but when I do it will only create a path of 1234567890123456 and skip the rest. If I write text on several rows it will use up to 16 letter on each row.
Is there an limit to "Path to text" .

I would like to know whether it is possible to create an image with GIMP that is not rectangular.
What I want to achieve is to have an irregularly shaped image (e.g. a map of Japan) on a website with the text flow adapting to the shape of the image.
All that I have been able to find thus far is how to make the background transparent. The problem is that the image frame, although invisible, is still rectangular...

I made a text layer on top of a textured background and changed the text layer mode to grain extract. I want to put a 3 pixel black border around it that is solid with a normal mode. How do I add a border to my text without it being effected by the text layers mode? The only way that I know how to border is to Alpha the layer to selection then go to edit and stroke selection.

i have tried to change the layer's line thickness, but it effected both the text and the line border. how can i separate between them?
