Given some hand drawings which are firmly black on white background (no greys of any kind), is it possible to somehow (in CS5 for Mac) to crop an image in such a fashion that a specified amount of white space is left around the drawings? I.e., determine a 'bounding box' for the drawing and then enlarge it by so much in either direction, then crop?
View 5 RepliesWhen I am working in Photoshop CS, I often use the 'F' command to isolate an image in the middle of a gray space. However, if one selects the image with the selection or crop tool, a too rigourous gesture suddenly causes Photoshop to slide the image away, so then only a part will still be visible. As long as this function is in effect, there seems to be no way to get the entire image centered again in order to determine the crop precisely. Does anyone know how to solve this?

I have learned GIMP enough to do this manually with the rotate and crop tools but I have 1000s of images so how to automate this process.
Every time I crop a picture, the picture is automatically rotated to the left. This started to happen a few weeks ago.

I would like to draw a smiple line using the transparent command 'AD (angle-distance).
My distance is not horz., so I want to enter the Vertial angle and the slope-distance, in LLD the command was AD VD.
So how do you do this in Civil 3D 2012.
I have a drawing that has a white background.
I would like to add more to the white background to make it bigger without having to stretch it and distort the image.
I want to place a circle shaped outline border around the original image with a set border thickness and color and be able to crop/remove the portion of the image beyond the outline, changing it from a square/rectangle image to a circular image.
If I am not able to change the drawing to have a round outer border from square, how can I make the outer parts past the newly created circular outline transparent?
Per the attached exhibit, how to get the plot border to cover the entire sheet border instead of just the bottom left corner.

Using Adobe Photoshop CC (CS6) but when I go into image details it does not show Image Focal Distance. Previously it used to show distance given in meters using CS4.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSome my .psd files (CS6 Photoshop, MAC OSX 10.7.5, Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7) automatically resize to a percentage. I can't figure out what the cause is, and it will not allow me to change it back to 100% to slice out images for web.

The file is extremely slow to open and adjust anything within the file as well, not sure if the issue is related. I am working off of my desktop not off of a server.
In Photoshop CS6, I have Shape Layer B clipped (ctrl alt G) by Shape Layer A. SL-B has a color fill different from SL-A, and has 50% opacity. Is there a way to automatically make every new Shape Layer drawn to have the same transparency and fill color as SH-B, and should also be clipped by SH-A?

When I select SL-A and then draw a new shape layer, it copies the fill color of SL-A and is clipped automatically. When I select SL-B and then draw a new shape layere, the new layer copies SL-B's fill color, but not the transparency, and it is also not clipped.

1. A screen-capture of 4 separate images - they are in 4 separate layers

The 5th layer of "Copyright Do Not Copy" does not affect automatic color!

3. If I use Image >> Automatic Color on 1 layer at a time, the images go blue (cold)

4. A second Image >> Automatic Color illustrating the cold automatic correction

5. a. If I Layer >> Merge Layers or Layers >>Flatten Image
     b. Image >> Automatic Color I get a slight color correction as I would expect.

 6. If I use the any of the identical images from the first image at the top then Image >>Automatic Color, it goes cold (Blue)

If I keep all 4 images together without any white area between them or around them and then Image >>Automatic Color the correction again like # 5 is only a slight color correction.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure how this started, but whenever I create a new adjustment layer, it automatically comes with a clipping mask to the layers below it. If I run an action with adjustment layers, all are clipped to the masks below them. I've looked for toggle switches in the preferences and elsewhere (with no luck) for a way to turn off this feature.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got Photoshop CS4 (Design Suite Standard) last week after having used Elements (2, then 3) for the last five years. In Elements, when you use the crop tool, you can move the entire frame around by clicking on the dot in the center and moving it. It seems that in CS4, when I attempt to move the frame, only the center dot moves without moving the frame lines. I looked through the PDF manual, but couldn't find any explanation how to change this. I'll likely be back with more questions as I try to learn how to use CS4.

Select "image>crop" and enter.
The picture disappears.
I had this happen with CS3 once; it was suggested to reinstall;
This time I have reinstalled PS CS4 twice (uninstalled first) and it still does this.
My PS CS3 was a separate PS package; the CS4 is part of the Adobe Creative Suite 4 (standard). The second reinstall, I reinstalled the whole Creative Suite. Still does the disappearing act.
I go to crop or use the marquee tool(such as to make a border, when I put the cursor where I want it and left click to start cropping(for example) very often the cropping lines just do not stay where I want them...they go all over the place. This happens with both tools...
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am having problem to crop using ratio instead of values of inches or pixels. In cs2 if i enter any values eg. 6 in width and 4 in height w/out specifying the unit it will use that value as ration instead, in this case 6:4. No resolution as i dont want to resample.
But when i tried this in cs3 it will use the value and i will get a 6 by 4 inches image instead of ratio.
cs6 doesn't save the focus distance in the exif data (Canon 7D) like cs5, is there a fix for this?
