Photoshop :: Auto Crop Multiple Images In Scans?
Jul 26, 2012
I am receiving a bunch of raw scans and the first thing I need to to with it is cropping them into individual images. We are talking hundreds of photos, with 6+ images on each raw scan. Doing it manually takes time and might not be 100% accurate. One should think some kind of software was made able to do this automatically (PS plugins?)
I suspect I *might* have to resort to something other than Adobe * - but in desperation I am trying this forum anyway..! It would be GREAT to be able to just do this repetetive work in one batch.

I have over 90 years worth of pictures I have to scan. 1 at a time is... well... on option I don't want to use. I am new to PS. Will the program allow me to put multiple pics on my flatbed scanner, have them automaticly split up, then put in a folder???

let's say I have a page with 6 images and 6 captions. is there anyway to crop out more than one at a time and save them? Currently I have to crop out all but one, then save that one, then reload the image and crop out another one and save etc over and over. is there a better way?

I decided to make a lot of GIF files (from a dvd concert). Took all the necessary jpeg screenshots to make my gif files.
Go to PS and I crop each one by one to my specifications. However, after a couple hundred crops my fingers are hurting! I am tired of cropping each jpeg file.
Is there a way to simulataneously select all of my jpeg images and crop them all at once with one swoop? If so, how would I be able to do it?
Then, I can use ImageReady and import those images and create my gif file correct?

On just one image this would be a no brainer, I'd just use the paint brush or similar tool to wipe over a section I want covered and use the crop tool to get the image size and position I'm after. The thing is though, I'd like to do the same edit and crop to a series of photos to keep them all consistent and it's beyond me how to do that in PS5. I find tips on using scripts, batch processing or stacking images that seem to defy the English language and don't address the two simple little things I want to do to these images.
Any resource, that could accomplish what I'd like to think should be a simple task for such an expensive program?

I have hundreds of photographs to print ranging from 2x3" up to 8x10" and I want to print them all off on a 44" roll and cut them out individually.
All I want to do is point Photoshop to the folder and have it arrange the images in the most efficient configuration for printing automatically, allowing me to set the color management on the document and the dpi of the 44" wide picture before I print it.

I have hundreds of scans all from one book and I am trying to straighten and crop them all out to the same pixel amounts. For example, I have a bunch of scans that are 1000x1000 pixels with overscan on all sides, they are also all at an angle. In the end I want a folder with all the pages at 800x800 nice and straight.
So, when I open the first one, I crop and straighten it to 800x800 and then I make a custom specification at 800x800. The problem is, when I go to the next one and hit crop and pic my specification, I find out that that specification is actually for an aspect ration, not a particular dimension. I want it to automatically put the crop window to 800x800, not just restrict the crop to that aspect ratio. If this could be done it would significantly quicken my work flow.

I am starting a project and doing research about having the possible chance of making either a UV or X-ray scanner with the ability of scanning numerous 2d drawings onto a photoshop like software all at one time. While going to SJSU it took me a longer time to shoot single shots of my 136 page animation project than it took me to draw it out frame by frame... so I told my teacher David Chai one day-" why not build a cube with an x-ray beam and shoot my whole project all at one time?
" It has been a long time since Art23 and I still have the same dream of doing a full length animation- if it were to ever happen I would need a software with the capability of running a composite that would hold multiple frames scanned(30 perhaps) through a front and side x-ray or UV ray that can harness the depth of each individual frame being scanned at the same time. If I had software that could hold data from each frame... I believe I can work out my schools animation team ad well as move towards making numerous 5 page "final D" animation in a way make a full length film with my old crew Studio.

I need to crop multiple images to the same size and perhaps adjust the position of the crop rectangle a little bit for each image. It seems that gimp forces you to destroy the previous crop rectangle position and size when you start a new crop operation. Is there a way around this?

I've noticed that when I open some PDFs that have crop marks, Photoshop only opens the are within the crop marks - therefore cropping out any bleed on the original PDF.

Is there a good fast way to use Photoshop CS6's crop tool to crop to a particular width/height without having to go through the Size and Resolution dropdown?
With the crop tool selected, if I punch "10" and "50" into the two boxes next to Unconstrained, then Photoshop CS6 doesn't interpret this as 10pc wide by 50pc high. Instead, for a landscape-format photo it comes out as a 50x10 crop, and for a portrait image it comes out as 10x50.
Selecting "Size and Resolution" from the crop dropdown appears to solve this, but it is slower, since you have to dance through a modal dialog box. Is there a way to get the CS5-like behavior from the crop tool? Use Classic Mode does not appear to affect this.

I recently scanned all my print photographs, three images per scanned TIFF file.
I want to utilize Photoshop's Auto Crop and Center feature found in File > Automate.
However, I can't figure out how automate more than once.
I have opened many .tiff files, and when I use Auto Crop/Center, it creates the three images. I can't seem to save them with Image Processing or Batch and needs to be done manually.
I have a ton of photos so I'm hoping Photoshop has a way to do this.
Ideally, I'd want to open a reasonable amount of Tiff files, execute something that would crop them all, and save them all into JPG's.

I am looking for a way to automate the process of cropping an image to a rectangle that precisly fits the outermost non-white pixels of an image. Ideally I would be able to specify the white tolerance. Is there a plugin that does this? Or a series of steps that can be rolled into an action?

I have used Photoshop for several years, but I didn't take the time to lean allot of what it can do.I'm going through Lynda.com videos now and starting to get a little better understanding.
I bought some vector eps files from Shutterstock. Most of these vectors are a bunch of smaller image elements.(For Instance Icons)What I would like to do is to find a way to batch crop all of the layers out of the eps and into png files.Of course they would need slightly different names.
I have seen where you can do something similar, but the smaller images are on a full size transparent background. I would prefer that they are auto cropped.I have the full CS6 Through Adobe Creative Cloud. So I can use illustrator for part of this if needed.

So I'm trying to do a face blend and I've repeated the process three times in order to make sure I'm not making any mistakes, but I still can't auto blend the two layers.
Any time I go Edit, auto-blend layers it's greyed out which is quite frustrating. I've taken a couple of screenshots to illustrate my problem. I am using CS6 on a new MacBook Pro.

Is there a way to auto number files with the file number (less .jpeg) and save without having to let my computer grind to a halt, as it does using Automate, contact sheet. The objective is to create a preview set for distribution to clients with the file number annotated at bottom centre. Also, is there any way of creating the text/font/colour/stroke of my choice?

i have used batch process to make a whole bunch of photos one size. I need to create a single 'photo wall' jpg out of them in which they're all tiled, the long way of doing this is to obv open them all and copy, paste into the psd, then flatten, but thats really, really time consuming. If photoshop had any type of auto import & tile feature? I may have to do this a 2nd time with 1000's of images.

I'm really hoping someone might have an answer for me on this one. For the past few months, Photoshop has been auto-adjusting my images. The colors/skin tones look absolutely awful. I have had to adjust every picture to get a non-alien look to them, but they still never look as good as what was in the camera. Has anyone experienced this? If so, were you able to find a fix? I'm a PC user - don't know if that helps. Here are a couple of examples:
When viewing them in bridge, the colors look normal (pics on left side)
Then when I click on the picture (not even opening it), the color automatically changes (pics on right)
I have tried pulling an image up just through Photoshop, but the same thing happens. I work in RAW, but have noticed it happening to the JPGS as well.

I am using Adobe Photoshop CC and I want to crop an image by a specific Width x Height. In previous versions of Photoshop, I was easily able to select the crop tool and input the dimensions up top where it would be labeled as W x H. Now, there are no options for W x H now and all I can choose are weird ratios. I have looked online on how to use the crop tool, and every single tutorial I've looked at says to use the Width x Height option, AKA unconstrained, but that doesn't exist. Instead, all I can choose are ratios and there are arrows in between the input boxes instead of an "x" symbol. I've attached an image to show what few options I have, none of which are Width x Height or unconstrained.

I wonder if anyone knows how to select(crop) the same region from two different pictures. Typically we have been doing this by using the selection tool and saving the selection which we can then load into the second picture. This works great except when we need to rotate the selection box at an angle.
If we do these and then try to crop, photoshop essentially puts a box around the selection that is straight which gives extra blank spots on the edges. When you crop using the crop tool, you can crop on an angle and photoshop straightens it out fine, but I don't know how to make it crop the exact same region of the second image then.

I've been using Photoshop for my Photography for quite a long time and I have recently upgraded to Photoshop CS6. Whenever I resize my images in CS6, I get the feel (from looking at the images) that the application has autosharpened my images! I am quite sure about that effect because my resizing principles have remained the same since using CS5. And in CS5, whenever I resized to that same size I am resizing in CS6, I used to run the Unsharp Mask Filter to get my images look at their best! So there must be something going under the hood in CS6, or am I missing something obvious? Basically, I want to be in total control as to how much sharpness I want to apply to my resized images!

Photoshop and Bridge CS5 does not rotate SOME of my vertical images. Most other photos taken in the same time frame and with the same camera display perfectly. Orientation is checked for display under Preferences, Metadata, Camera Data.
There also seems to be a discrepancy how Orientation is described under Metadata for those images which DO auto rotate : sometimes it is -90 (which is how I hold the camera for verticals and which displays on most verticals) and sometimes it is "normal" even when it has auto rotated the image. I do not understand this difference."Normal" is also used to describe the orientation of those images which DO NOT auto rotate for viewing.
The photos in questions were taken using a Nikon D-300 which is programmed to indicate the orientation of the camera and has always been programmed to do so. I know I can manually change the orientation but we are talking about hundreds of images (I have over 10,000 photos in all; most of which display fine). What should I be looking for to explain and correct this issue?

I've got a PC with 12 GB of memory, 9 allocated to PS CS5.A Radeon 5970 video card with 2GB on-board memory.... although CS5 might only accept 1GB.I open 30 files about 200K each, which would put total usage around 6 MB total... let's say 7MB to add a little buffer.
I could process the first 10-12 files. I was just cropping each image to what I needed to do. Nothing was standard, so an action or some other automated process was not a viable option. After each crop, I would save the image and close it out.
About the 13-14 image, as I was starting to crop, the image would just disappear completely so I couldn't crop the image at all.All video drivers and Adobe updates are installed.I could close the program and restart it, and it worked fine. But I shouldn't have to do that.

When I try to crop an image using photoshop the crop tool will only allow a square image, it will not let me have one side longer than the other. I've tried to just use the tool once the box is highlighted to adjust the position of one or more sides but it will only allow me to do this at the corners, once again resulting in a square even though it is a rectangle I want.
