I made an Art Brush in Illustrator just by setting 4 color swatches side by side. Drew it out like this:The edges of the lines of color are seamless.When I copy and paste the image into PS, I get this weird white 'stroke' between the lines of color like this:
View 3 RepliesI'm having a problem with the Blob Brush tool where I can't change the basic brush to something else. Whenever I pick a brush I want and I try draw with the Blob Brush tool, the brush I picked reverts back to the basic brush. Here are screenshots:
I pick a brush that I like first
But when I start drawing with the Blob Brush tool, it reverts back to the basic brush automatically
Am I doing something wrong or is the Blob Brush tool only capable of using the basic brush?
Everytime I try to use the brush, it automatically becomes uniform, 5 pt round. I change it to what I want, and as soon as I use the brush, it jumps back to the old settings. How can I change the settings and have them stay so I can create multiple strokes in succession without having to go back and change each one? It's so frustrating.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have created an arc using the Brush tool and now need to clip one end of it. If you refer to the attached image you will see that 1 is the arc created as a brush and 2 is what I wish to achieve by making the right hand end 'horizontal'. If I place a rectangle in front as shown in 3 and try to use a tool such as Pathfinder, I get a strange result as shown in 4. Because it is a brush there are no handles to allow me to reshape the end of the arc. Is there a way to achieve this. I need the final image to remain a vector as it will need to be resized. I am using Illustrator CS6.

No matter what 1 single pixel brush i use this will happen... no matter which computer i use cs6 on and different copies of the installation. Anyway have any insight into this? frankly... it's somewhat limiting that i can't use the brush for stroking a shape if i need a pixel line and yet soft curves that a pencil won't get you.
I am not very good with photoshop, and if there was a brush tool setting to make it just like an actual paint brush.

When I change the settings for 1 brush... say I add some jitter to a smooth brush - then suddenly the other brushes get the same jitter applied to them.
How can I set the brushes so that each brush has a different setting that doesn't change when I change any other brush settings?
p.s. I also don't get why Adobe has you lock a brush by UNlocking it? Seems to me it should be the other way around?
I have contacted Adobe about issues with Photoshop brushes recently. My issue is that the brush size is smaller than the circle that represents the brush. In other words, when I hoover over the area that I want to paint or erase with the circle and then click, the painted or erased area is smaller that the circle. It's really frustrating when fine tuning an image, you never know how close you are to what you want to correct. This is only visible when you zoom in quit a bit. I worked with an Adobe tech for over an hour and he could not simulate the problem. Then he finally asked if I was using a retina display, (he was not).
View 4 Replies View RelatedOkay so I've browsed these forums and everybody keeps saying to turn off Align new Objects to pixel grid well I've done that and it still keeps resetting. I've been using a Print document since I am trying to draw illustrations for a children's book but somehow when I choose anything below 1 pt it keeps going back to 1 pt no matter what.
Opened up transform panel too but it's not checked and grayed out so I can not turn on / off again. I am using Adobe Illustrator CS5.
Upgraded to Illustrator CS6 and as I paint with the brush, it only shows the path while drawing until I release my Wacom pen. I want to see the shape of my line as I'm painting it.

If I make an art brush, say two solid rectangles when I apply this to a shape such as a square or star, there is a corner/point that doesn't seem connected, I get a gap/split. I'm guessing it is where the brush has started/ended along the path. These shapes are closed though right? Is there a way to avoid the gap/split? I noticed if I use the pen tool to give the point handles it'll seem connected, however now the shape is not a corner.
I know I can also use the appearance panel and set two strokes aligned along the outside, but this does not seem easy to update sizes, say I had 7 strokes for a rainbow for example each at 5 pt and wanted to update that to 7pt I would have to manually update each one? I also don't think I can use the appearance panel to set up a gradient stroke that flows along the path, such as a square with rounded corners applied, when I tried with the appearance panel it was as if it was masking a gradient beneath it.
I am using CS6, though I'm planning to switch to CC.
I've a problem with changing the color of a brush in Illustrator. I've download a brush package for Illustrator, and found a nice brush for a logo.
All the brushes are in black, and when I want to change the brush color into a other color, the whole area of the brush will be a other color.
How can I change the color of the brush?

I've created a new art Brush: New brush>Art Brush> and made my selections and clicked ok. The brush then shows in the brush palette where I have access to use it but then when I close the document and reopen a new one the brush dissapears. Where did it go and how do I get it back??
Not sure where I am going wrong in saving the brush.
IMO, brush libraries would be much more useful if they could be edited and saved while open in another document. Having to open a library file to update it is NOT a smooth process.
I'm still using CS5. I assume it's the same in CS6.
is there anyway to keep the pen and brush setting remember as per layer , let say i have 2 layers of different stroke setting , after i draw 1 to another , it always revert to 1pt stroke width automatically .
i want to keep all the setting : transparency , color , stroke width to be remembered in layer . Therefore, i dont need to change again or remember whenever i draw in between layers.
I am currently having a big problem with Brush Settings in Illustrator. It was working perfectly fine until the other day so I am worried I have clicked a button incorrectly.When I try and draw a line using the brush tool (and my tablet) I change the settings to, for example, Calligraphic 7pt Black with no stroke.
As soon as I draw it sets itself to No Fill and creates a Stroke instead, which doesn't show the pressure sensitivity I use with my tablet. why it started doing this as it worked fine a few days ago but it is vital to my job, the "New Art Has Basic Appearance" box is unchecked.
I am using Illustrator CS5 to build a logo that uses brush strokes. The strokes are translucent but I want them to be opaque. The setting for the stroke is 100% opaque. I can't find a way to change this. It seems like a glitch. I've used brush strokes many times before, but have never had this problem.

For example, let's say you wanted to paint three brush strokes right next to each other, but not overlapping. Is there a way to select all three strokes and then divide them so no one stroke resides over another, they would be completely separate of each other.
I had a good piece of it today when all I wanted to do was a simple basic brush stroke. But instead Illustrator forced a weird fancy stroke no matter how many times I tried to change the settings. URL....

When I do this on a scatter brush, I'm presented with the expected dialog and a preview of the updated art thumbnail, but no change takes place with I click OK. It's happens on three different computers I've tried. Is this feature broken?

I am using Ai Cs6. I am trying to make a new calligraphic brush. The graphic I wish to create the brush for is highlighted on my screen, and I clicked on the New Brush icon in the Brush Menu. After changing the angle, roundness and size, the only options are "fixed and random". All other options are greyed out. How do I access the "tilt" feature for example?

I spent a bit of time creating a brush style to simulate a rope. Artwork was created, dragged and dropped into brushes pallet, set as pattern brush. In the AI file in which the brush was created, it is visible and available as a brush when "Show pattern brushes" is checked. However, in other AI files I cannot find this brush! I have closed all files and closed AI, reopened and still nothing.

I am new to Illustrator and am taking an Illustrator class. One of the excercises we are supposed to do is just tracing over a greyed-out image that is made up of one long brush stroke. the idea is to start at one end of this long stroke and follow all the curves, not letting up on the mouse button till the end. As the title states, we are using the paintbrush for this.
the brush quits putting out any color, even though I DO NOT let up on the mouse button! have tried and tried with the same result. So picture this...if you stretched this stroke out in a strait line, it might be 20 inches long, but i can only trace 10 inches of it before the paintbrush quits.
I have googled this to no avail. I am on a pc, but it is not just on one machine, as I have tried this on one Windows 8 desktop, a Windows 8 laptop, and a Windows 7 laptop, all using different mice as well. Both laptops have I7 chips with 4gigs of ram, and the desktop has a core 2 quad chip with 8 gigs of ram, so I dont think thats a problem. Just seems weird that its happening on all three machines.
Also, its not the file that Im tracing around either, because I can get the same result if I just open a new document and just start painting a long stroke before too long it quitsThis is happening in Illustrator CC. Class doesnt meet again for a week, so just thought I would ask here.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using a charcaol brush on a stroke in CS6 and when I pick a gradient it just turns the color completely black. The gradient works if I make the stroke basic though. I am guessing it is not possible for whatever reason? I also tried to recolor the artwork but couldnt find any gradient options in there.
I suppose a workaround would to maybe make a duplicate of the stroke, make it a basic shape and blend the 2 or something?
Why I can’t add a gradient to a brush stroke. As soon as I select the drawn brush stroke and I try playing around with the gradient, the whole stroke goes black…This is driving me nuts. And the weird thing the gradient can be applied only to the basic brush type…not the one that I need unfortunately. I’m not sure why that is…I can only add colour to the brush stroke but no gradient sadly. Is there something I’m doing wrong or a setting which prevents this from happening?
