Photoshop :: Apply Adjustment Layers To Multiple Layers That Have Different Blending Modes?
Sep 6, 2013How to Apply adjustment layers to multiple layers that have different blending modes and keep the colors the same as the adjustment done?
I work in Animation painting Backgrounds. My files are sometimes upwards to 200+ layers.I will use adjustment layers to quickly balance colours and constrast on top of those many many layers.
The only way that I know of how to apply adjustment layers it to every single layer ( by applying I mean I need to get rid of the adjustment layers because we cant use them in production but i need the new colours be applied to all layers underneath ) in a psd is to manually do it By duplicating the adjusment layer 200+ times and then merging each layer to one of those adjustment layers so that that layer can take the adjustment layers effect permanently.
The issue is that Within Those 200 layers I have some layers set to Multiply or OVERLAY. IT obviously wont apply the adjustment layer properly to those layers because those layer blend mode affect the layers under them. The colour wont be the same anymore in the spots that had the multiply blended mode.

I have 2 adjustment layers up top. I need to get rid of them by applying them to each layer! I cannot merge any of the layers. We need all those layers for production.I can apply the adjustment layers manually and this works GREAT for all Layers set to normal. THey take on the colour change just FINE.
However, The issue is that layer 6 and layer 4 are both set to mutiply and this screws up the colour once i apply the adjustment layers to each layer manually...
How can i apply my adjustment layers to a file like this with some layers being set to multiply while keeping the layers exactly the same configuration and The new colour taking effect exactly how i looks before i apply the adjustment layers? Now the simple solution is to merge the multiply layers to the layer that it affects HOWEVER I NEED those multiply layers to be separate!

Oct 24, 2012I am trying to understand the difference between apply image and blending modes as I realize my grasp of it is weak.
Why blending the duplicate of an image with the original, with a given blending mode, does not give the same result as, Applying the duplicate of an image to the original with the same given blending mode in Apply Image?
What I have done in Photoshop, to be clearer :
1. one image ("background image"), duplicated it ("copy1") and set the blending mode ot linear light (for example). I get the result 1.
2. I selected "background image" and applied it in linear light (for this example), with Apply Image, to the "copy1" image. Result is different.

Aug 19, 2006When I blend layers using multiply, and lower the opacity of the top layer (such as to compensate for too much flash), photoshop puts all these vertical lines on the image. The only time they are not visible is when opacity is set to 0% or 100% for the top layer.

Photoshop :: Is There A Way To Apply To Zigzag Filter To Individual Lines?
Dec 8, 2005I'm doing a project where i am trying to make a house (like a simple one you would see in a real estate ad), but with the lines being squiggly. I applied the zigzag filter to the entire thing, and it looks alright, but the whole house is distorted, not the individual lines. I want to know if I can just make the individual lines have that zigzag look, like some one scribbled it lightly. Is there a way to do that, and if so, how?

Jul 23, 2013I cannot seem to find out when and where it's ocuring. I took measurements of a large room and modeled it in Autocad 2014. The solids I used are rather simple, mostly just boxes with some boolean unions and substractions here and there. I then took pictures of every wall, perspective-corrected them, imported each of them to Autocad as material, assigned the real size to the picture material and applied those materials to the corresponding wall faces. Planar mapping proved to be adequate in all cases and mostly mapped correctly on the first go.
The project was completed and saved. To my horror most of the material mappings had just gone the next time I opened the project. It was just as if I had never applied any material mapping or texture to the faces.
After partially appliying the damned material mappings and materials (textures) again I tried to determine under what circumstances the mappings get lost. Its not allways the same walls. The bug seems to occur randomly on various geometry and at various times. Sometimes the mappings get lost after opening the project, sometimes the get lost on the fly when isolating (hiding) geometry. There is no way I can get the room to look as I want it to look as there will allways be some wall that has become default-grey again, randomly (either while working or after opening up the project again).
I really expect Autocad to be rock solid after so many program versions. Did I do something wrong? How would you go about applying textures of inividual walls to wall-faces? Or is Autocad just crap regarding heavy use of textures because that is not the average use-case?

I want to make a website and use each of these as graphic so separate documents would be fine too.
These are 100 "boxes" btw, so i cant simply select and Layer via cut all the time
if Im not clear...basically, all the boxes in this image are in 1 single layer, i need to make separate jpgs/pngs for every box, would be great if someone could guide me through...i have removed the background btw.
Photoshop :: Blending Layers In CS5
May 7, 2012I recently downloaded the trial version of Photoshop Cs5. I haven't had many problems and I like it a lot except for ONE thing! I cannot figure out how to blend layers! When I upload my first layer (my image) it shows in the layers palette. But when I upload my second layer (texture) it not only jumps on top of my first layer in the layers palette, but it ALSO jumps on top of my first layer (the image) in the work area. I have watched a lot of the Photoshop tutorials and I've noticed that when they upload their second layer it shows SEPARATELY from the first image in the work area.
They then click on the second layer and drag it over onto the first layer and then they are ready to start working on blending. For the fact that my second layer jumps on top of my first layer in the work area like it does, I am not able to follow along with the tutorials! I have also tried and tried to figure out how to manage to blend by trying lots of techniques and options in the program but nothing will work.
I use textures and depend on blending A LOT with my editing so this has been very discouraging! I have used other editing programs and usually with them, after you duplicate your first layer and then upload another you are able to blend with no problem. So I do not understand this at all! You can even blend with no problem by duplicating your first layer in Photoshop Elements 10.

Jan 9, 2009I am just trying something out on Photoshop and for some reason am not getting the expected result. I have added a new blank layer to an image and have changed the mode to Color. Now I have changed my brush size and colour but when I start to paint my new colour onto the layer I dont see the brush stokes on the background image... If I just very the new layer I can see the strokes but they are not showing up on the background.

Jan 22, 2007I've got two background color swatches that I've inserted into PS file (in different layers). I'm simulating a night sky at dusk. One color is black with stars, the other is pinkish. I'd like to do a gradient where the sky goes from black at the top to pinkish at the bottom.
Is the best way to tackle this by blending a layer or adding a fill and adjustment layer? I've been experimenting with the gradient tool, but don't have the control I want as far as where the color transitions from black to pink.

I have set up a 320 x 180px canvas and have 'Placed' in about 20 images that all need to be exported with the Save for Web option.
Problem is, when I set the action to Save for Web and choose the destination, Photoshop names my newly exported image as the document's title (for example, 320x180_Canvas.jpg). But as soon as I try to make it move on to the next layer, it will automatically replace the first exported image with the new one, renaming it the same way, and so on and so on for the next 2 layers...
So essentially, I can only export one layer at a time - unless I make an action to Save for Web for individual documents and not layers (so instead of having one document with 20 layers, I have 20 documents with one layer)...
I must be missing a crucial point here.

Jan 4, 2012I have assembled a wholel lot of scanned pages from my sketch pad into one psd file. That file has guides which I use to register and align every page (each page is therefore its own layer). Is there a way I can make an action and save off each individual layer as its own jpeg? I set up an action but I don't know how to get photoshop to save it with a distinct namespace. The first action I set up basically prompted me to re-name each layer as I saved it, which isn't really saving time. What I want is for the action to start at the bottom layer and turn off the visiblity of all the layers above it, save the visible layer as a jpeg with a name based on the layer and then turn on the next layer's visibitlity and repeat, until all layers have been saved.

Now it appears you need to make each video layer a maximum of 5 seconds. Document settings doesn't resolve this problem. I've found out how to extend the timeline but, crucially, not the length of individual video layers beyond 5 seconds. I believe CS5 and previous versions had this enabled.

Aug 22, 2013For theoretical purposes, let's say that I am building an animation and that I have 10 layers in this animation thus far. Now, let's say that I would like a watermark to be overlay on every single one of these individual layers.
The only way that I would know how to do this would be to make a layer with the watermark, duplicate it nine times so that there were a total of ten layers with the watermark and then painstakingly go about the process of merging one layer of the animation with with one layer of the watermark and then repeat this process nine more times.
Whenever this situation comes up, whether it is a watermark or a correction of some sort that belongs on ALL LAYERS and I do this the only way that I know how, I think to myself that with something as powerful as CS 5, there has GOT to be an more automated and easier way of going about this.

Feb 4, 2013I want to be able to take a document, that has multiple layers, inside of multiple groups with various layers having various blending modes applied to them and from within that document, select simply two of those layers, one with a Divide blending mode and the other layer Normal, merge those two layers, but have the visual appearance of the merged layer maintain the visual appearance of what the layers looked like before I merged them.
Everytime I attempt this, Ps takes my Divide layer, reverts it back to Normal and then merges the layers, thus changing the appearance of what it was before the merge. This is not the desired result.
I understand that when you flatten an entire series of layers, it applies all the blending modes and maintains the visual appearance. Is there a way to do this with just two layers instead of all the layers?

Sep 12, 2011I'm working on some graphics for an iPhone app for which I need to export images to png.
The image has an inner and an outer glow to create a glowing LED effect. The problem I have is the outer glow has the 'screen' blending mode applied and when I export this the blending mode defaults to 'Normal'. The image must have a transparent background because it will be used in different locations on top of a brushed aluminium background effect.
I understand that the blending mode takes the background layer into account when determining the output. Any alternative way of creating this glowing LED effect which I can export with a transparent background?
I have attached an example of this, the first 'light' is how I want it to appear when merged. The second 'light' is how it currently looks when merged.

I was able to use the direct select tool to select mulitple items by either dragging it would select anything in the box or using shift to select multiple items. Do I have to click on every item in the layer panel to select it on the canvas? Is there a option that I have checked when it should be unchecked?

Jul 25, 2013I have a floorplan of a building and am labeling exits of the building for evacuation routes. Each exit label is on its own layer. I need to show the floor plan from different perspectives/orientations and therefore need to rotate the exit labels in place on their own individual axis. So far I have been going in and selecting the image (label) on each layer and rotating it 90 degrees and then repeating the process for the next label. When I group the layers they all rotate on one axis and therefore are not near the exit they are supposed to be near. Is there an easier (quicker) way to rotate the labels as I have to do this for four different perspective for each of four floor plans?

The reason I ask, is that I am restructuring maps on my website, a process which requires repeated file saving and although I am working on the files in TIF format, they tend to degrade after a while.
