AutoCAD Map 3D :: Covering Sphere With 2D Design Pattern
Oct 29, 2011I'm picking this catagory as I think it is something that has been done before with mapping flat images to a 3D sphere (globe).
The application: Mapping a pattern design onto a sphere - in this case a marble. The pattern design is in pdf format and has been manipulated so that the image fits a certain sized sphere (2") around the circumference. I'm hoping to take this 2D image and wrap around the middle of the marble in full image length and have the image diminish as it rises to the top and bottom of the marble for fitting the surface.
I have lightly researched bring in a pdf format file into AutoCad and see that it can be done. Now I need to address the technique of wrapping it around a 3D sphere.

Nov 14, 2008I want to put text on a Christmas ornament. How can I make it look like it's actually printed on the 3-d sphere? I've tried warp text, but that doesn't look right either. Is there a way to do it? Is there some sort of text path tool and then I can apply warp?

Oct 22, 2013I am trying to use photos for our office website. the company is doing a full rebrand and one of the members is not available to do a new photo shoot so we have to use the wonderful existing ones but need to go over the old logo. I have cropped the photo out as much as I can but have not had enough luck with using the cloning tool on such a large space with a small amount of light change as it comes up looking like the bright blue wall behind us is streaky. How can I do this successfully?
I am using Photoshop Elements 11.

I'm having a couple of problems: 1) if I put the network lines on the map it looks too flat so I think I need to apply them to a slightly larger invisible sphere; 2) when I add a blur/outer glow to the lines they do not wrap cleanly on the sphere, they kind of break up and distort. Plain lines do not seem to have this problem but objects with effects do.

Nov 19, 2012I have a picture of a coffee mug.
And I want to "wrap" a circular logo to the mug to make it look like the logo is imprinted on the mug. What's the best way of going about this so it doesn't look like it was a poor photoshop hack?
What I have figured so far is to use the Edit / Transform / Perspective to squish the bottom and widen the top to give the perspective. And then I go to Edit / Transform / Scale and squish it vertically.

Lightroom :: How To Export Collections To Apple Devices Especially Apple TV
Dec 31, 2013I recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements 9 to Lightroom 5, When I moved the catalogue over, all keywords transferred, and Albums became collections. When I used Photshop Elements, I could easily sync the Albums with my Apple Tvs to display the pictures, as well as my other Apple Devices. I can not figure out how to export the collections to the Apple devices, especially the Apple TVs. There must be a way given the power of this software.

Nov 18, 2012I did a search around, and did not find the answer. Basically I have attempted to create an action in Photoshop CS6 which will save a file in the tiff format after i crop the image. I want the file name to be the name of the image (which is supposed to change depending on name of the image) like this:
1280x720_MGXXX.tiff, where, in my case the XXX represents DIFFERENT NUMBERS.
I want to apply the action to one image at a time. Each image has a different number (name). I record the action, add the 1280x720 text to the image name in the Save dialog. I am saving the image in a different folder from the source file. The source file name is _MGXXXX.tiff (again XXXX is a number like 2220...).
When I run the action on a file, say "_MG2221.tiff" it adds the 1280x720, and saves the file. When I apply the action on the next file (_MG2222.tif), the action overwrites the existing file, 1280x720_MG2221.tif, with the image. The action always uses the name I entered in the Save dialog!! I think I was able to do this in CS4 and CS5.
I want to be able to open a file, crop and adjust it, and then save in a diff location with 1280x720 pretended to the file name.
Photoshop :: Covering A Selection With Netting
Aug 2, 2012Covering with a netting. There must be an easier was, but, here is how I do it - I need to learn a better way.
1) I have photo of a large yellow pillow on top of a blue sofa. I want to apply netting over the pillow.
2) I create a "netting image" (using mspaint, really quick) large enough to cover the pillow, with 2-pixel-wide diagonal lines and white spaces in between of about 8 pixels. This file is opened under mspaint, and copied all to the clipboard.
3) In CS2, with my sofa jpg opened, I duplicate the background layer, giving me a "background.copy" layer, and I hide the original background layer.
4) I use the magic wand and quick mask brush to select the pillow, then I delete it (from background.copy)
5) I paste from the clipboard, giving me a 3rd layer (layer1) consisting of the black on white net large enough to cover the pillow - this new layer gets automatically selected.
6) I use the magic wand, with "contiguous" unticked, and select all the white spaces between the lines - then I delete these white spaces.
7) I move the background.copy layer on top of layer1 (the net layer), and I see my sofa with the pillow deleted but with the mesh showing in the deleted space where the pillow should be, but nowhere else.
8) I show the original layer "background", and the yellow pillow now appears, but the netting lines are showing over it, and nowhere else.
9) I flatten the image and its done.
Two things - this is really involved for something so simple as covering an object with a netting. And, I don't know how to bellow and squish (distort) the netting to reflect a truer picture of how it would look around the edges (the netting should be more compressed close to the edges to reflect a true 3d picture of how it would look - something like the "Sphere" option from the Dstort filter - but, for non-spherical random shapes.

Jul 24, 2012I want to use the Pattern Stamp tool to clone a painting effect from a photograph to a new layer.
What I am finding is that the pattern is perfectly replicated on the new layer except that a thin strip of the sky is appearing at the bottom of the image. It seems like a strip of the top of the image is appearing at the bottom of the new layer version
I am selecting the whole area of the source image before defining the image as a pattern. It is not a problem of the "Aligned" setting - that is always selected.

Apr 27, 2004I have two psd files. One with my logo and another with my web page template. I want to add my logo to the web page template without having to recreate it. I have been able to add the layers of my logo to the web page template following some advice I have found on this site (using duplicate layers and selecting the web page file.), but the logo is too big.
I have chained the layers of my logo together but now I need to scale it down, move it, then add some layer effects such as inside beveling etc. How do I scale just the logo layers down so they will fit correctly with the rest of the page?

Feb 28, 2012I have a PSD file that has a logo in white against a black background. I know how to change the black background to another color but I do not know how to change the white logo to another color and maintain the existing fade effect. The outer edges of the white logo fade into the black background.
If I was to change the black background to a green background (#808A53) then I would like to know how to make the white logo fade into the then green background.
Ultimately I would like to make the white logo a red color (#7d110c) that fades into a green background (#808A53) but I do not know how to do this as I am a novice with Photoshop.

When we run an Action in Photoshop, either directly or through a Batch process, the name of the file changes to an old file name that actually existing in the file structure. It doesn't matter which file we start with, the name changes to this other name during the action. I've checked all the steps of the action to be certain there isn't a Save As command presenet. This has started happening with the past month. The Action has been in use for over a year.

Photoshop :: PS Action - Date And File Name Stamping
Oct 27, 2007I am writing an action to label a series images that I will be printing with the current date, file name of the image and other information along the edge of the print so that I will be able to identify the source of the print in the future. Writing the action with stops that allow me to type in the information is not a problem.
The question is how can I automate the process so I do not have to type in this information each time. Is there any source available that I can copy today's date so that I can paste it into the action? How about the file name? In this case I can copy the file title from the desktop each time but I can not fine a method of including this in an action or find another source to copy it from that will retain the link to the current image.

I've tried using a hex editor to do the job but, photoshop fails to load the updated action.
