Photoshop :: PS7: Resize To Max Size Of X*y (as Action)?
May 26, 2004I made a Photoshop (7) action (macro) a couple of months ago, that (among other things) resized the image to a maximum of x*y pixels (a certain, fixed size).
That is, if the maximum is 50*50 pixels, this will happen:
100*50 -> 50*25
200*200 -> 50*50
40*40 -> 40*40
Now I need to make another action with the same feature, but I can't find how to do this, and I only have the first action as a compiled droplet.

Sep 8, 2008way to specify a certain MB to hit when resizing images using an action?
The reason I ask is that I work with TIFF files that generally start at 60-100MB which I then have to resize to be around 25MB - and I'd like to build this into an action that I can repeat on all images.
At the moment, I'm doing a little guess work when creating an action that employs the Fit Image function. If the image height:width is close to that of A4, I find setting the fit image option to around 3300x3300 pixels usually works. However, a lot of images that I process don't fit to such proportions, which is why I'd much rather be able to set 25 MB as the target size instead, if this is possible...
Photoshop :: Action To Reduce File Size Between 12KB And 20 KB
Jun 20, 2013So I am familiar with how to use Photoshop actions and how to batch process, but right now I am on a project where I need to batch process a large number of employee photo headshot images to be 100x75 pixels AND must be between 12 kb and 20 kb.
So the 100x75 pixels is easy, but my questions are this.
1. How can i have an action save the image image in that range for the file size ?
2. is there a way that I can have the action pause so I can center the person's head in the photo when cropping?

Feb 22, 2012I take a large number of event images and the usual client request for images being sent to the press is image size rather than resolution, dimensions or other requirements.
Clearly in LR3 if the client has requested 3MB jpg the easy option is to after processing take my Canon 5d mkii RAW file and just hit export to max 3MB jpg.
My question is is it better - ie image quality better - to export by resizing longest edge to approx 3000 px and exporting to jpg which results in a similar file size, though different pixel dimensions? Or are they effectively the same?

Mar 24, 2013I have just been trying to resize some images on the latest version - 3.510.4297.28964 - and I have typed the measurements that I wanted into the print size fields on the resize dialogue. The actual sizes the program resizes the images to differ though - some look to be about right, whereas some come out much larger, but they all show the dimensions that I inserted in the canvas size box.
I'm sure I've done this before and this hasn't happened?

Apr 20, 2009I'm currently having problems with the batch feature regarding pdf files which I can't figure out. My main task is to automatically resize several (50+) pdf files in a folder, save them for web as jpg and then close the original file without saving it. I've tried to make an action for this, but I only end up getting errors or Photoshop trying to overwrite the same file all the time when saving the images. I did manage to make a successful action which worked as batch if I had all the files open in Photoshop, but that's not really what I'm after since I then have to open all the 50+ files first manually. What I would want is for Photoshop to go through all the pdf files in my source folder - resize them - save for web - close original image wihtout saving. I'm currently using Photoshop CS2 if that's any help. Is there anyone who can help? A step-by-step solution would be greatly appreciated!

May 20, 2009I'm using actions through CS4 and have a large volume of TIFFs of varying sizes and dpi that I need to resize to the same dpi and longest length. I've set up the one action to resize both landscape and portrait images in one go to a standard longest length setting through the fit image automate function but this doesn't change the dpi of the files which range from 300 - 2400 dpi.

Nov 26, 2008i create an action with a save for web command, i change the image size to 400x400 pixels. But when i run the action on a larger or smaller image the image size will change proportionatly. Not 400x400pixels. If i add to the action before i save for web to resize the image through the menu commands i end up with lost resolution.

Aug 10, 2012I am trying to resize one image to 4 different sizes. So far I have an action created to do all of this, with only one minor problem. Whenever it saves the images, they are always saved as the wrong file name. I was wondering if there would be a way to keep the original file name, but then add a suffix to it- all within the action.
If it's not possible to automatically add a suffix, how do I keep the original file name when it's saving within the action?
I found an older post (URL...) that was very similar to what I'm trying to accomplish, but the question was never fully resolved.

How can I create one Action that will work for both Landscape and Portrait images (setting the longest dimension to 800 pixels keeping the other dimension in proportion)?

Photoshop :: Batch Resize To Specific Size
Sep 29, 2008I have a folder of images that range in size... but for the most part they are all smaller than the actual size I wish them to be. (For example: some are perfectly at 250 x 250. Some are 65 x 250. Some are 128 x 180. The point being that they all vary. )
What I need to do is have these images created and outputted at a size of 250 x 250. Every single one of them. Unfortunately I have 5000 that need to be resized. What I would normally do is create a new image at the size of 250 x 250 (background white) and import the smaller one (let's say 128 x 180) and center it. Then save the new one. Easy.
However, I would like to know how to do this "en batch". I'm sure it's possible, but I have very little experience with Photoshop.

Aug 19, 2013I'm automating a custom watermark action for a series of photos (1000's) the orignals vary in size so thats my first hurdle to accomodate, the final water mark will comprise of a white stroke offset say -5 mm(but again ideally relative to each images size) and then placing a PDF logo at 20% opacity and placed centrally.
The problem I have is that I want the logo to be at the same scale throughout the sets of images, ideally the stroke too.So my question is can this be achieved in PS, scaling relative to document because all I can seem to do is specify a size or percentage.
A work around I considered is basing the final image size on a set width or height and then using a standard size for the logo and stroke just thought I'd try the hard way first.

Sep 25, 2013I do know how to batch resize photos using adobe bridge and then tools>photoshop>image processor.... and resize but what i want to know is how to batch resize images to a specific size width and height without having to keep proportion.
Because right now i have a bunch of photos that are 2896 x 1944 pixels but i need it to resize to 1920 x 1080 for a stop motion clip. However photoshop wants to keep it in proportion and resizes it to 1608 x 1080 which is not what i want but i dont want to have to do them one at a time.

Feb 26, 2013I have been creating different designs in various sizes, such as 4x6 and 12x12 or letter size. What I need to know is how to view the design in photoshop at those sizes without having to hold a ruler up to my computer? A few years ago I was told of a shortcut key, I think it was Ctrl+1, to make it full-size. It turned out not to be accurate advise. I learned this after creating fifty 4x6 designs and after they were printed I discovered they print was way too small. I need a more accurate and scientific way to have Photoshop resize the view to the actual size of the graphic so I can span the design and confirm everything is legible and visiable before I print it.

Mar 22, 2012I'm looking for a way to resize all the layers in my document to a specific size. I'd like to resize every layer to be exactly 6 inches in height (while keeping proportions constrained). I can manually transform every layer to do this but I haven't found a way to do this automatically to all layers, I've tried to do it as an action but it's recording it as a percentage and not a fixed height, so it doesn't work on the other layers that aren't the exact same size.

Nov 18, 2012I did a search around, and did not find the answer. Basically I have attempted to create an action in Photoshop CS6 which will save a file in the tiff format after i crop the image. I want the file name to be the name of the image (which is supposed to change depending on name of the image) like this:
1280x720_MGXXX.tiff, where, in my case the XXX represents DIFFERENT NUMBERS.
I want to apply the action to one image at a time. Each image has a different number (name). I record the action, add the 1280x720 text to the image name in the Save dialog. I am saving the image in a different folder from the source file. The source file name is _MGXXXX.tiff (again XXXX is a number like 2220...).
When I run the action on a file, say "_MG2221.tiff" it adds the 1280x720, and saves the file. When I apply the action on the next file (_MG2222.tif), the action overwrites the existing file, 1280x720_MG2221.tif, with the image. The action always uses the name I entered in the Save dialog!! I think I was able to do this in CS4 and CS5.
I want to be able to open a file, crop and adjust it, and then save in a diff location with 1280x720 pretended to the file name.
