Vista 64bit / Photoshop CS4 Friends - I'm struggling to create an action that will insert a length and width size (3840 x 2160) in the crop dimensions? Simply, I go through the steps to create the action and nothing happens when I try it.
Is there any way to create an action or keyboard shortcut to set the Crop tool to the front window size in Photoshop CS6? I find that I use that several times a day. I got used to it being the top choice in the Crop tool presets menu.
There are a lot of fantanstic new features in PhotoPaint X4, but one that I was hoping to see didn't show up. Or, maybe I'm just not getting it.
What I'd like to do is crop part of a photo to a predetermined size. For example, set width and depth to 3.09in by 2.78in, set the resolution to 300, draw the crop border around the area I want cropped at that size, and double click to do it. Then, when I import that photo into CorelDraw it is exactly 3.09in wide by 2.78in deep.
Right now, I'm going out to my long-in-the-tooth PhotoShop 5.0 LE to do that simple crop task, but I prefer doing everything from within PhotoPaint because I really love the cut-out feature (greatly enhanced in X4 by the way), which I use a lot.
Is there a way to view the preview size of an image while cropping, meaning while the marching ants are around the selection, can I see the image size?
2nd Question: Can I preset a cropped size and drag it around until I find the area I want to select to crop?
I do have rulers showing and use them as guides, but this is not detailed enough, at this point.
I use adobe photoshop lightroom 3.6, earlier i was able to export photos to my desired folders in desired format but i am not at all able to export any photos at all!
I am a labtech at a community college and look after 48 mac pros in which the students use the entire creative suite. (I only mention this becuase any answers need to consider variations in system settings or photoshop settings. college students get into everything!)  But the issue is when you select the crop tool and enter a custom constraint and crop  The image size is sometimes a full 2 inches off of what you set as a crop?! I havn't run into this before
[I do know you can use the drop down box and use {size and resolution} but I want to know why it doesnt work under custom and unconstrained]
I've received a dwg file from someone and I want to print it at scale 1:50 on A0 paper. However, I'm struggling creating the right scale.
My problem starts with the fact that measuring lines in the diagram does not produce values that match the actual size. E.g., I have a wall of size 390, but measuring it shows 621.
Is there any way to change the units to match the actual desired size?
Then, I find it tricky to create the right scale for printing (people will get the paper and use a ruler to measure distances, so accurate scale is important). If I cannot change the units, I guess I need a different scale than 1mm=50units. So I tried 1mm=8units, because 7.8mm should measure as 390cm in 1:50 ruler. But this is not very accurate.
I've created a viewport, selected it and since gone to zoom the relevant image until it is the desired size within the viewport.
I've done this a million times before without a problem, but am having terrible difficulty at the moment.
Once I've zoomed the image to size and subsequently exited the viewport frame (to view the sheet) my image disappears - I believe it just becomes a microdot.
Incidentally, when I initially go to zoom the image to fit the viewport window, I have to use the zoom, extents, 'select all' (CTRL A) and then significantly enlarge the component of the drawing I wish to have fill the viewport window.
Why is it that the zoomed image fills the viewport window when editing the viewport contents and then disappears (turns back into a microdot) when I've finished editing the respective viewport?
I have been googling this but can't seem to work out a) if it's possible and b) how to do it.
I have around 200 images of varying sizes that I want to get to a 75 px sq thumbnail. I can make an action resize and save for web but the crop tool is difficult. Could I somehow get the crop tool to start at the top left of each image and restrain the sq by the right side of the image to be cropped?
how to create a simple action, i.e. rotate, crop, etc. What I can't find in a search of the Forum and web is a clear tutorial on how to create an action using text. For example, midway through the action, I want to enter text; however, I don't know how to have the action present the text box for me to select the text/font/color, etc. Each time I use this action, it will be with different text, and if I simply enter the text as part of the original action, that same text appears in all subsequent uses.
When I include a Stop and add text, then begin recording again, it doesn't seem to work either?
I have images of varying sizes that I need to all be cropped to a specific aspect ratio in the center of the image and extending either to the side edges or the top and bottom depending on using the maximum portion of the image. How do you set up an action to do this.  If I were to do this by hand, I would use the rectangle marquee, change to fixed ratio, and drag from one edge to the other. They move the selection to the center (as best I could) . Then do Image<Crop?  But I need to automate this process and have have it exactly positioned in the center. Can this be automated in an action? If so, how?  FYI, I have CS5 (and CS6). I am comfortable using the image processor. So as long as I have an action set up, I can process all of my images using the image processor. I also have lightroom 4 if there is some way to do it there.
cutting up and manipulating vectors ? I want my script to 1)open from a designated folder 1b) copy and paste 3 instances of the vector object 2)add a rectangle or two , 3) use those rectangles to crop the edges aaand ,4) reflect the images inside those two rectangles 5) perfectly line up the reflected rectangles to their mirrored edge of the third remaining item...?
When I'm looking at photos in my Library, I'd like to be able to sort them in terms of size.  A photo of 50 k is only of marginal interest for limited upload only. A photo of 15 mg is of great interest. The size tells me that it's at least moderately hi res and that there are probably a lot of pixels involved, and a good print can be made for publication or whatever. But I can't see a way to sort by image size. Is there a way? I'd like to separate a photo with a size of 720 X 480 from a photo with a size of 100 X 75.
looking for a crop that will allow me to keep all the heads the same size. I am a School photographer and have been looking for a crop tool mask out liner etc that will allow me to crop and see that head sizes remain the same.
I'm in CS6. I want to crop a photo to a specific size. Example. I have a photo 14X12.5. Use unconstrained 12X12 cropping. The result is 12.5X12.5. Not what I want. How do I crop to the specific size of 12X12 deleting part of the photo?
I have 2 layers. One photo was PLACED on each layer.I turn off the other layer so thet the "eye" icon is no longer seem.I crop photo in the active layer but remaining layer photo get cropped too. Â What am I doing wrong? I did the tutorial for the new crop tool.
I made a Photoshop (7) action (macro) a couple of months ago, that (among other things) resized the image to a maximum of x*y pixels (a certain, fixed size).
That is, if the maximum is 50*50 pixels, this will happen: 100*50 -> 50*25 200*200 -> 50*50 40*40 -> 40*40
Now I need to make another action with the same feature, but I can't find how to do this, and I only have the first action as a compiled droplet.
When trying to place an image into a new document in photoshop elements 12, I select all-copy-paste the image (or even drag it) over to the new doc created. However, when I do this - the image does not paste in at the same size. It typically shrinks down in size.  Do I have to save the file, close out and then open the new doc and PLACE it in the document in order for it to keep size? There must be a better way to do this. Basically, how can I drag a photo that is 4x6 over to a new doc while keeping the size at 4x6.Â
I recorded an Action to place the Author's Name and other information in the file info.
Running the action solely works. Placing it in the group w/ other actions, the file info step is executed, but file info is not added. What should I look for to troubleshoot?
Am currently evaluating Photoshop and have a relatively simple question: I need to be able to view the size of the crop area when I draw the marquee... For example: I have a pix that is 2240 pixels by 1488 pixels and I want to crop it to 2000 by 200 to fit into a Flash movie.
When I draw the marquee I expect to be able to view the size I have drawn and also be able to adjust the marquee based upon pixel size.
ISSUE: When cropping a photo, the crop tool highlights the photo correctly, but when the crop is activated it resized the photo to about 1 pixel, no matter how large or small the selection crop was.
Actions took: I fully installed all the updates, when unsuccessful, I repaired the installation, when that was unsuccessful, I completely uninstalled and then reinstalled Photoshop.
1) Click and hold the rectangule tool until other options appear. Select Rounded Rectangle Tool (or, alternatively, just click this in the options area for the shape tool.
2) Select "make work path" in the options for this tool.
3) Try drawing a rectangle. If you want a wider arc, increase the radius in the options.
4) When you're happy with the radius, draw a rectangle from picture corner to corner. Press space when you are making the rectangle to move it about...
5) Go to Paths (a Tab that's default location is behind Layers on the Layers Palette). Ctrl-Left click the workpath.
6) Select, Inverse (Ctrl-Shift-I)
7) Make a new layer and fill with white (Edit>Fill, or Shift-Backspace).
8) Delete the work path.
However I am not sure how to now crop the photo out of the white surrounding area. Also how do I then apply a thin border to the edges of the photo like a stroke?
way to specify a certain MB to hit when resizing images using an action?
The reason I ask is that I work with TIFF files that generally start at 60-100MB which I then have to resize to be around 25MB - and I'd like to build this into an action that I can repeat on all images.
At the moment, I'm doing a little guess work when creating an action that employs the Fit Image function. If the image height:width is close to that of A4, I find setting the fit image option to around 3300x3300 pixels usually works. However, a lot of images that I process don't fit to such proportions, which is why I'd much rather be able to set 25 MB as the target size instead, if this is possible...
I would like to automate the creation of a frame with top rounded corners around images as shown in the image below. The rounded corners should always be the same size and angle no matter the size of the picture.
I'm having problems creating and recording a suitable photoshop action that would work for any picture dimension and that won't resize the top rounded corners.
