View 2 RepliesI'm currently having problems with the batch feature regarding pdf files which I can't figure out. My main task is to automatically resize several (50+) pdf files in a folder, save them for web as jpg and then close the original file without saving it. I've tried to make an action for this, but I only end up getting errors or Photoshop trying to overwrite the same file all the time when saving the images. I did manage to make a successful action which worked as batch if I had all the files open in Photoshop, but that's not really what I'm after since I then have to open all the 50+ files first manually. What I would want is for Photoshop to go through all the pdf files in my source folder - resize them - save for web - close original image wihtout saving. I'm currently using Photoshop CS2 if that's any help. Is there anyone who can help? A step-by-step solution would be greatly appreciated!
View 5 Replies View RelatedI made a Photoshop (7) action (macro) a couple of months ago, that (among other things) resized the image to a maximum of x*y pixels (a certain, fixed size).
That is, if the maximum is 50*50 pixels, this will happen:
100*50 -> 50*25
200*200 -> 50*50
40*40 -> 40*40
Now I need to make another action with the same feature, but I can't find how to do this, and I only have the first action as a compiled droplet.
I'm using actions through CS4 and have a large volume of TIFFs of varying sizes and dpi that I need to resize to the same dpi and longest length. I've set up the one action to resize both landscape and portrait images in one go to a standard longest length setting through the fit image automate function but this doesn't change the dpi of the files which range from 300 - 2400 dpi.

But when i run the action on a larger or smaller image the image size will change proportionatly. Not 400x400pixels. If i add to the action before i save for web to resize the image through the menu commands i end up with lost resolution.

I want to have an action to resize an image to 72dpi (or 96?, which is best?) and constrain the width/height to 1024pixels. How can an action determine whether the image's orientation is landscape or portrait?
I am trying to resize one image to 4 different sizes. So far I have an action created to do all of this, with only one minor problem. Whenever it saves the images, they are always saved as the wrong file name. I was wondering if there would be a way to keep the original file name, but then add a suffix to it- all within the action.
If it's not possible to automatically add a suffix, how do I keep the original file name when it's saving within the action?
I found an older post (URL...) that was very similar to what I'm trying to accomplish, but the question was never fully resolved.

1) resize a Portrait orientation image to a height of 800 pixels (constraining proportions) and then “Save for Web” to a jpg with a quality of 24%
2) resize a Landscape orientation image to a width of 800 pixels (constraining proportions) and then “Save for Web” to a jpg with a quality of 24%
How can I create one Action that will work for both Landscape and Portrait images (setting the longest dimension to 800 pixels keeping the other dimension in proportion)?

If they were to be reused I could probably only need a copy that was much smaller in size. Rather than just delete them I was considering making the files size much smaller.
Is there any way yo use the batch processing tool to resize hundreds & have them saved by overwriting the old copy rather than have them as a version set? I didn't want to do this one at a time.
I'm using PS Elements 11, I have a large # of pictures to resize (over 500). Is there any way to resize a large # at one time? Doing one at a time takes up a lot of time, I was thinking if I can do 20-50 at I time.

It would be nice it if it were possible to batch resize a whole bunch of pictures. Could be done as follows:
1. Click on "batch resize.."
2. A window opens wherein you can select a number of images
3. Then choose by how much % you want their sizes to be reduced.
OR:
1. Find and select the images in windows explorer
2. Right-click, and select "batch resize.."
3. See 3 above
If a picture can be resized to print in a different size? I am trying to print a 5x7 and I have scoured the tools in Gimp and even tried to do it through my printer to no avail!
View 5 Replies View RelatedI took photos with a DSLR some with a point and shoot, and a lot with my phone camera. DSLR photos are all good quality and when I export I want all of them to keep their original size, point and shoot photos should be reduced in size by about 20~40% depending on the crop I made and zoom when I shot. Phone pics need to be reduced by around 50% or more. One pixel size on export doesn't cut it since all photos are cropped and have various sizes but only some need reduced sizes due to phone camera taking bigger pictures than the quality keeps up with.I need some sort of 'export size for full sized jpeg' or something. (Without exporting each picture individually that is)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently found GIMP and think it is amazing. I've been a PhotoShop user for years, and actually prefer GIMP. The one thing I can't seem to figure out is holding me back from using GIMP exclusively, and that is the Record Action feature. I have to manipulate about 100 pictures per day - simply resize a picture to 6x4" @ 300 dpi, save it, resize again at 100 dpi, put a 10 pixel; black border around it and save it to another directory. I can do this to a hundered picitures in about a minute with PhotoShop, but it takes quite a while with GIMP.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt has come to my attention that the new drag-resize feature only changes the master diameter of the brush but leaves the dual-brush diameter intact. It is the only shortcut that does this resizing improperly.
I would like to know if everyone else experiences the same problem. Is it a bug or is this way of resizing intended?
I mainly do digital paintings and this small bug makes the feature useless for me. I hope that it will be fixed at least in cs5.
In previous versions I have been able to resize the canvas and then resize the image. For example resize the canvas to 250px x 250 px. Then resize the image to the same.
Here is the process I am using:
Duplicate the layer and then hide it. Resize the canvas (Image > Canvas Size) to 250px x 250 px. Un-hide the layer and then resize the image (Image > Image Size). When I go into Image>Image Size it says that the image is already 250px x 250px. However if I try to transform the scale the image is the original size and not 250px x 250px
The reason for needing this is I resize image size (in bulk) and the canvas size using the batch process (file>automate>batch) and actions. I loaded the actions file I used in previous versions, but that did not work correctly. I then went in to do this manually and got the same results.
I have just been trying to resize some images on the latest version - 3.510.4297.28964 - and I have typed the measurements that I wanted into the print size fields on the resize dialogue. The actual sizes the program resizes the images to differ though - some look to be about right, whereas some come out much larger, but they all show the dimensions that I inserted in the canvas size box.
I'm sure I've done this before and this hasn't happened?

View 6 Replies View Relatedi am trying to build an action where the end product is a channel listing that has all the channel (R-G-B-L-C-Y-M-K (forget LAB a-b)). this will allow me to look at all the channels for contrast and subsequent extraction. i'm actually able to do this as i RECORD the action. but when i RUN the action, nothing happens.
in recording the action, i create a DUPLICATE IMAGE, then convert the new image to LAB. i then drag the "L" channel to the original image. it goes into the original image as an alpha channel which i rename to "Lightness." i then convert the duplicate image to CMYK and then one-by-one DRAG the individual channels to the original image. at the end of this process, i have all eight channels visible in the channels palette. this is what i want.
but then, when i RUN the action on a new image, the action fails to RECORD the "drag step and drop" step. the "L," "C," etc. channels are not dragged during the running of the action.
why does the "drag" step not record in the action
needs to overlay a grid over a photo and then save it as another file. In CS5.5 or earlier, no problem, but in CS6 it is not working for either of us.
The batch action (run from either Photoshop or Bridge) stops and prompts at the Save command every time no matter what format we save it in (psd, png, jpg, save for web, etc.).
I have been through the Web and the Adobe Forums and cannot find a work around for this. He cannot just hit enter everytime the popup window comes up because he has over 2700 photos to put this grid on.
