AutoCAD Inventor :: Work Flow To Create A Blank With Additional Material
Dec 11, 2013We have a waterjet and machine shop at my place of employment, and currently my work flow is to draw the parts. Then for parts that need material left for machining I create a new part and using the derive tool I place my base part which I then apply extrusions to fill the holes and use thicken to add material to the surfaces that need machining.

Mar 23, 2014I accidentally resume my photo editing from the "folder" location instead of the "collection" location. So now when I go back to my collection, none of the virtual copies and PSD files created are there. The physical folder location has more files than the collection because of the extra PSD files.
I even tried to "Import" from the same folder location to see if LR would pickup the new virtual copies and PSD files. But the crazy thing is LR does not register any "new photos".
how to get the additional virtual copies and PSD files to register in my collection?
After Effects :: Collect Files - Collecting Additional Unwanted Comps
Jun 25, 2013I use "Collect Files" all the time. I collaborate with other people and this function is obviously vital.I'm currently having an issue with it collecting comps that are not selected. I choose "For Selected Comps" and I check off "Reduce Project." The new file has the comp I want, but also others. And if I try another comp, it will collect the same additional ones each time. And In the generated report, it is listing the comps I don't want as collected.
It seems to be specific though, collecting comps that are from other .aep files that I've imported. And only comps from .aep files that where generated with Collect Files. In other words, basically anything I've round-tripped using Collect Files and imported after a collaborator has finished their work.
I'm using AE 12.0.0.404 and I'm on OSX 10.8.4.

Nov 18, 2013most of the 3ds max files in web available for download come with jpeg images which i assume are the materials applied on the model. i can open up the models in 3ds max but without any applied material. How to open up those files with materials applied.

May 12, 2011I upgraded to 3DsMax 2011 and still have some problems navigating the Slate Material Editor. I want to create a Mix material as the "first" material but I'm only able to double click on the Sample Slot to get a standard material in the "View1" as my "first" material. I am able to create a "Mix" node here, but it has to be connected to the "Standard" material and this makes it so that i can not drag the material in to the "Environment and Effects" tab as my "Environment Map".
When i go back to the "Compact Material Editor" (which waists time), I can select the Standard icon but "Maps" is not available in the "Material/Map Browser" when i right click on an open space.
3ds Max :: Can't Reset Material Slots In Material Editor
Feb 28, 2011Im on Max 2011 with sp1 and the latest hotfix installed, working with vray 1.5 sp5. When i try to re-set mu material editor (compact not slate) i get the folllowing error message
"Runtime error: cannot assign undefined to material editor slots" and a Macro_media utilities window opens with the following script

I'm not a scripter but it seems that there is no material defined to place into the slots on re-set. I've recently had a problem with my material editor not giving me acess to slate as i had loaded up my 2010 menus into 2011 but i've since re-installed max and vray and am still getting this.

Jul 28, 2013Why on earth would Adobe remove the ability to point to a folder for additional plug-ins? I'm sure they will have lots of good reasons. However, the standard folder is embedded in the AppData folder in Windows. That folder resides on the system (C:) drive. I always install Plugs in a folder on a separate drive on my system (D:) so as to make it easy to manage and navigate.

I had it set up that way on my old computer and laptop, so that whenever I would "save as" it would add the new edit to my LR catalog. But I am just setting up a new computer I got and it will save the first edit for me in LR but any additional edits don't show up.

I am still only using Elements 9 from my PC, I do not have a smart phone and I could not find and app for Adobe Revel for my Kindle Fire HD. Will I have to do my only uploading to Revel each time?
I was able to successfully log into Revel to see my photos and albums after much searching through the discussion forums but I think there could have been better information or tutorials for those of us who are novices in the use of todays technologies.

Jan 30, 2013We have not upgraded our computers in 5 years. We did upgrade the OS to Windows 7, 64 Bit and are running C3D 2012. We are currently using Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00 GHz with 4 GB ram. I am recommending upgrading the ram to 8GB.
We have a test computer with 8 GB of ram that I ran some timed tests to determine how much of a performance increase we will get. I timed opening C3D, opening drawings, rebuilding surfaces, rebuilding corridors, editing corridors with grips and switching layouts. Based on those tests I have seen almost no improvement that I can show with timed tests.
Memory usage was 70%-75% while running the tests when with 4 GB of ram and 45%-50% with 8 GB ram. The drawings I opened were from one of our largest project. The surface drawing is 50 MB with about 15 MB of xrefs.
Am I testing the wrong functions? Are our projects too small to take advantage of the additional ram? Why are most system recommendations I see in the DGs for 12 GB of ram or more?
