Photoshop :: How To Get Different Color Percentages

Feb 3, 2012

I have been working as a comic book colorist for US publishers for the past 3 years and have self-taught Photoshop Cs3 to myself over the past years.

Usually when i work on a comic book and check my blacks with a color picker it comes to:- 75% Cyan, 68% Magenta, 67% Yellow, and 90% Black

, but recently one of my publishers asked me to Ensure the blacks are:- 60% Cyan, 40% Magenta, 40% Yellow, and 100% Black. I have tried a lot of different setting in the color setting options in Photoshop, but have not managed to get the same percentages as specified by my publisher.

How can i manage to do this without affecting the color quality of rest of the page, as i would not want the print quality to be affected.

Photoshop :: Accurate Color Reproduction

I have a bunch of wooden colour samples which need scanning for a website, but have found the scan result are usually off from the real thing. Understand that it's not going to be possible to get a 100% match, would would like to have something which is quite close to how it looks in real life.

there are text labels on the wood in white, after scanning the text appears as colour #a2b5c2 (blueish-grey), the wood itself is a dark brown but appears much lighter. have managed to find a picture of how it should look, compared to the one I scanned.

Photoshop Elements :: Color Prints In PSE 9 Not Accurate

Sep 25, 2013

I've been having trouble printing color prints with PSE 9.  They appear kind of pale or less vivid (unacceptably so), the colors are just not as they appear on my monitor.  I'm using an Epson R2880, iMac 10.6.8. It prints b&w beautifully.  I've been through Epson tech support, checked nozzles and cleaned heads.  While speaking with Espon they suggested I print from another application, so I tried using iPhoto, colors came out accurately there.  I happen to still have PSE 8 still on my computer, so I attempted to print from there, the colors were also more accurate there (and that's without using the ICC profiles I have in PSE 9 ).  It seems the issue is unique to PSE 9.  I've tried changing my color setting, typically I have it set to AdobeRGB, but have tried "no color management".  I have my monitor calibrated, use proper ICC profiles for any papers I use (and have tried multiple papers).

Illustrator :: Printing Requires To Use Spot Color For Black - Recolor Artwork Changes Percentages

Aug 1, 2013

Illustrator CS6 (other users on 5)
Mac OS 10.6

I just need to go from K and tones of K to a spot color and tones of a spot color.

I'm using recolor artwork because I can't merge into K. The art comes in from our customers as K so we can't just design differently.

The rectangles on the right are k and tones of k. The rectangles on the left are the results after converting to a spot color with recolor artwork. Using recolor artwork. I just need a way to accurately move the tones from k to a spot.

Photoshop Elements :: Display Color And Exposure Not Accurate

Nov 4, 2012

I find it so frustrating when I spend time editing a photograph in PSE 9 only to find when when I'm done, the finished product looks completely different everywhere else on my computer and online.  The Photoshop display is too light and washes out the photos, giving an inaccurate image. Is there any way to set the display to be more accurate?

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 11 :: Impossible To Determine Exact Color Based On CMYK Percentages

Dec 19, 2007

I have recently stumbled upon a problem I cannot correct. I am using Corel 11 and although I have the default CMYK palette selected, all the colors ( for CorelDraw and PhotoPaint) are in 255 percentages as opposed to the 100% CMYK model. I must have inadverdently selected this color mode but cannot figure out how to revert back to the 100% model. This makes it impossible to determine the exact color you want based on CMYK percentages. I know this is a RGB model but all colors are displayed in CMYK ex. C- 233 M- 122 Y- 114 K- 155.

Photoshop :: Get Accurate Color When Printing From PS6 To An Epson PictureMate Printer?

Oct 13, 2012

I am trying to print from Photoshop CS6 to an Epson PictureMate color printer and an Epson PictureMate 225 printer.  In both cases I want to let Photoshop manage color.  I am finding no color profile for Epson in the list of profiles provided by Photoshop.  The best I can do is choose “display” as my profile.  Still my color prints do not match what I see on my screen in Photoshop. They are flat and washed out.   How can I obtain print profiles for my Epson Printers to be used with Photoshop 6?

InDesign :: How To Keep Accurate Color In PDF

Feb 20, 2014

Mac OSX10.6.8  InDesign CS6.

I've created a design for a flowing graphic "wave" across an office window 20 ft wide. The only colour is Pantone #301 (blue), and there are gradients from 10% to 80%. The sign supplier wants a high res PDF to print on a flexible vinyl material. When I export to PDF, the colors change on my screen and go from blue to a grayish-blue tone.

1) If I don't do anything, but send the file, will the final output be close to what I see on my screen, or what the InDesign color palette specifies?

2) When I export to PDF, I see several options. I've tried several variations, and it does not bring the image closer to Pantone #301. What else can I do to assure I get the Pantone color?...

Here are the process and options:

- Pantone #301 is only color specified in InDesign.
- EXPORT to PDF.
- QUALITY  - Press
- COMPATIBILITY - options from PDF 1.4 to 1.7. Which is the best to use?
- OUTPUT - COLOR -
Conversion to Destination? or Not?
Destination - many, many choices!
Profile Inclusion? Not sure what that does.
Ink Manager - It gives an option for "Spot to Process". Should I chose that?

Lightroom :: 4.4 D7100 Color Profile Not Accurate

Apr 8, 2013

I have been unhappy with the colors from raws on my new D7100. It's bad enough it has banding and color cast issues within dark shadows but today I decided to do a test against my D90 and ViewNX and the results conclude what I have been seeing. There is too much yellow and a lack of magenta in the converted raws with LR. Here is an example. I'm considering sending it back until this is resolved. Copy and paste the link into your browse I can't seem to be able to paste a working copy of it into this post. I remember when I first got my D80 how bad the color profile was, I had to shoot Jpegs for highend kitchens because I couldn't get the wood tones to look correct. Eventually the profile got updated.

Photoshop :: Rescaling Images - Not Using Percentages

Jan 19, 2005

I know you can rescale an image by using Transform and then typing figures into the percentage boxes on the toolbar but is it possible to change these boxes to accept actual measurements rather than percentages.

I relaise you can drag the edges of the image to resize it but this is too fiddly and time consuming when you have lots of images making up a larger design.

Photoshop :: Resizing Layers Using Pixels Instead Of Percentages

Aug 3, 2012

Using Photoshop CS5 for the PC.

When I select a layer and look at the info panel, I see that the layer height and width is shown apparently by default in percentages.  Specifically 100% Height and 100% Width.

I would prefer that the Info panel show height and width in Pixels instead of Percentages. Finally, after seeing the height and width in Pixels I want to change the height by entering the height in pixels. How can I do that?

I don't want to use a "ruler" to do this, I just want to be able to enter the pixels (height and width) that I want the layer to b resized.  For example when selecting a rectangle that is currently 100 pixels tall and 50 pixels wide, I want to be able to just change 50 pixels wide by entering (in a field) 25 to make it 25 pixels wide.

In Fireworks I resize by pixels all the time.  But can't find a similar method in Photoshop.

Photoshop :: (OSX) Feature Request - Can Navigator Window Have Custom Breakpoints / Percentages

When you currently right-click the navigator it just uses the OSX system right-click. I have been needing to use the percentage 133.33 during a project and have to manually type it in each time. If you could mark custom percentages as a breakpoint it would allow me to jump to that breakpoint when using CMD - /CMD + .

Xara :: Get Percentages Of Custom Palette Colors?

Oct 25, 2011

I want to detect percentages of my artist's oil colors in any area of a vectorized photo that I point to.

So, I want to first vectorize a photo to reduce it to manageable separate color areas. Then, I want to be able to get a list of the various percentages of 108 different colors that make up any of the vector color shapes I point to or select. These 108 different colors are somewhat accurate small bitmap swatches that correspond to 108 artist's oil paint colors.

Alternatively, can I just somehow plug in this 108 swatch palette and have a software (Xara?) break down a bitmap into areas of vector color using only this custom palette?

Is this possible in Xara, or by any other means you know of?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Slope Surface Percentages

Aug 16, 2013

I am using AutoCAD Civil 3D to do a slope analysis across project locations. When defining slope categories, I am finding that the max slope percentages are astronomically high; ranges are being returned up to 360,000%--and I've only done three regions! I understand vertical slope but these percentages are not realistic by any means, especially through the areas in which I am working.

A specific example: between a contour at elevation of 792 ft and a contour at elevation of 794 ft at a distance of approximately 60 feet, the slope percentage being returned is in the 9000% range. There is not a sudden drop or rapid change in elevation between these two contour intervals to provide reason for this high of a percentage. I would expect to have a slope percentage nearer the 3% range.

The data source of the contour information is LiDAR being brought into CAD via the task-based geospatial option using MapImport. All data tables are being kept. Polygons are being imported as closed polygons. There are no surface errors being reported upon creation. The project locations were created in another program and imported into CAD using the same manner. The only thing that I can conjure up is that there is some sort setting issue.

Illustrator :: Tiling While Printing Is Not Retaining Percentages

This did not happen with the cheapo Lexmark, so I am assuming that it is the printer?

Illustrator :: Disappearing Pantone Swatches / When Using Only Percentages Of Swatch

Jun 19, 2012

I've made a design in Ai CS6 (with colorspace) and have used several Pantone swatches. From a few Pantone colors I have used only a percentage of the color, for example the design consists of: 75% of Pantone 485 C, 32% of Pantone 1345 C and 100% of Pantone 154 C.

In the process of the design I have used several other Pantone colors which are not used in the final design, but they are still in the Swatch tab/list. So when you click on the triangle (upper right corner) > "Select All Unused..", the Pantone colors that are only used as percentages (Pantone 485 C & Pantone 1345 C in the example) are being selected as "Unused" ?!

I have been using Ai CS4 before this version and in that version this wasn't a problem.I could you percentages of Pantone colors without the swatch being selected as "Unused".

I really don't want to manual delete every unused swatch by dragging it into the trash bin.It would be such a time wasting handling. This is really inconvenient as I am working for a print and design company and need to save the Pantone colors that are used in the design, even if they are only a percentage of the Pantone swatch.

Photoshop :: Layer Opacities Not Accurate?

May 12, 2012

I use Photoshop CS5 12.1 for Mac.

When I set the opacity of a layer to, say, 50%, it will always go down one percent below, to 49% I'm not trying to be too picky here, but it's irritating when the opacity of the layer will always slide down one percent from what I set it as. So 68% becomes 67%, and so forth.

I have used Photoshop CS4 and and CS6 Beta and have never experienced this odd problem. When I set the exact opacity or fill, it will stay there. But with Photoshop CS5, it doesn't. I know it's not a huge problem, but like I said, it gets a bit annoying after a while, especially when I'm recording actions..

Photoshop :: How To Get Histogram To Give Accurate Reading

Apr 24, 2012

I use the histogram feature in PS to figure out how many square feet of yarn I will use in a rug that I am making (I work as a rug designer). I am running into a problem with this which is scary because my numbers have to be accurate.

As an example, I may have a 9x12 (inch--this is later blown up to feet using a transparency) drawing. In the drawing there may be 45 organic looking shapes that will be green. I use the magic wand tool and choose all of these green shapes. What I am noticing is that once I get to a certain number (not always consistent) in the histogram reading it will all of a sudden change to a different number and go to (for example) Cache 3. Because of this I have no idea if my histogram reading is accurate.

Is this some sort of memory issue? How do I prevent this from happening so that I can get an accurate heading?
