Photoshop :: 3D Menu Grayed Out So No Options Are Able To Be Selected?
Sep 2, 2013
Photoshop CC The 3D Menu is greyed out so no options are able to be selected. If I try to use the 3D Window (Window>3D) then I get a message about enabling "Use Graphic Processor" even though its already enabled. I wanted to try out CC before upgrading for CS6 - And certainly will not be buying a new system just for 3D Option in CC (will stick with CS6)

A co-worker scanned a photo and emailed it to me to edit it and try to improve it, but everything I want to do is grayed out so I can't select it and I can't figure out why. Maybe it has to do with how she scanned it? Â It's CMYK, 300 dpi, and 8 bit. Â I'd like to sharpen it and adjust the hue/saturation, but they're grayed out. Â why this is happening and how I can work around this so I can make the changes I need to make?
I am working in a studio who have photoshop cs5 extended. I would like to use the 3d for a project but the menus are greyed out? I have checked the preferences and turned on Enabled openGL Drawing. The Advanced settings can only be basic (others greyed). The care used in the machine is NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT OpenGL Engine and the Mac spec is below..  2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon 8 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 FB-DIMM Model Name:         Mac Pro Model Identifier:         MacPro1,1  Processor Name:         Dual-Core Intel Xeon  Processor Speed:         2.66 GHz
I have CS6 Extended, and while I can use some 3d features, the options are not available. I've removed and reloaded PS, the graphics driver has been updated, removed completely and then reloaded, but nothing works even though I have never actually gotten a warning that the card isn't supported. It is supposed to be compatible with OpenCL but this isn't available for some reason.  The graphics card has vram of 512, with 503mb available according to PS. In preferences-performance, "use graphics processor" is checked. In the advanced button, "use graphics processor to accelerate computation" is checked, but "use openCL" is grayed out. I've tried unchecking it, restarting the program, and then turning it back on, along with all other forms of "turn it off-turn it back on". The screen resolution is 1366x768, if this matters.  Here are the specifics: Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0 (13.0 20120315.r.428 2012/03/15:21:00:00) x32 Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit Version: 6.1 Service Pack 1 System architecture: AMD CPU Family:15, Model:0, Stepping:1 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2 Physical processor count: 4 [code]....
This graphics card should be enough to work with the 3d of PS, but it isn't, and I've looked at everything that I can find trying to figure this out.
I have Photoshop CS6 13.0.1 x64 Extended and all options under the 3D manu are grayed out. My graphic adapter is nVidia GeForce GTX 650 (it has 1024 MB memory). I have Windows 7 x64 and 8GB RAM. Â In Performance settings I have checked to use the graphic processor and in Advanced settings the drawing mode either Basic, Normal or Advanced, it doesn't make a difference. Â I just tried to create a 3D postcard and got this message:Â why the 3D doesn't work and what can be done about it?Here is a fragment of System Info regarding the display driver. The line with OpenCL Version is empty, although I have checked "Use OpenCL", could this be a problem? Â Memory available to Photoshop: 6314 MB Memory used by Photoshop: 32 % Image tile size: 128K Image cache levels: 4 OpenGL Drawing: Enabled. OpenGL Drawing Mode: Advanced OpenGL Allow Normal Mode: True. OpenGL Allow Advanced Mode: True.
At first my 3D menu wasn't showing up, but after reinstalling, I was able to get it. Though, the problem now is that the 3D menu itself is greyed out. I have an up to date graphics card, more than sufficient VRAM, and an overall powerful machine; I'm sure it can run 3D. Â Adobe Photoshop Version: 14.0 (14.0 20130423.r.221 2013/04/23:23:00:00) x64 Operating System: Mac OS 10.8.4 System architecture: Intel CPU Family:6, Model:58, Stepping:9 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, HyperThreading Physical processor count: 4 Logical processor count: 8 Processor speed: 3492 MHz Built-in memory: 16384 MB [code]....
how to use the Pen tool. Â The tut shows that I should be able to click the Mask button in order to create a trans BG. However, mine is grayed out. I cannot find a reason why that would be. I am able to use the Layer Mask under other circumstances. Â (The tut has me take an image, draw around the image to practice pulling/dragging, twisting, adding handles etc & so forth). Â I have the pen tool set to Path but the Mask doesn't become available under any of the options. Â The tut says to click Ctrl + Click on the path and then to click the Mask button. Â why the Mask is grayed out?
I cannot get an animated gif I save with GIMP to save with 'one frame per layer (replace)' because GIMP won't allow me to choose that! all the 'animated GIF options' are grayed out.
I am using CS5 Extended Teacher Student edition on my Mac OS X version 10.6.8. After using PS5 for many months with no problems, suddenly my entire menu is unavailable. I cannot even open a file or close a file from the menu.
I closed PS and restarted it and it is the same. As you will see in the screenshot, I recently downloaded and installed a couple sets for the Radlab plugin that I use to edit. I had not had any previous issues with RadLab. I have three shoots to edit and can't do anything.
I just upgraded from CS4 to CS6 Design Web Premium Extended version. I'm working on a mac with OS 10.6.8. I have plenty of ram etc. Â I've tried several tutorials to see what the 3D features are, but I can't even get past step 1 of selecting the extrude to 3D option.
I've tried selecting the layer and still grayed out.
I tried selecting the copy with the type tool and still grayed out.
Why the custom option for live trace would be ghosted in CC? Â I haven't changed any settings, and as far as I know it's been like that since the initial install. Â The option is there... can't click it... Â I'm running Win 7 Pro 64-Bit with 32G Ram and a core i7.... so my specs shouldn't be the issue
I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS3 10.0.1.  When launching, the window labeled "Adobe Design Suite Premium CS3" opens - it's only filled with white, and no text or graphics (I think it's usually the window asking me if I want to register, which always comes up when I launch the program (rather annoying in itself). However, now it seems that the launch gets "hung" on this window, as, even the the program starts, all the menus are grayed out, and I can't open any files or do anything. Also, the window mentioned above only has the yellow "minimize" button available in the top left corner, so I can't close it or otherwise get rid of it. Since even the Quit function is grayed out, I have to quit the program with a force quit. Also, this same thing happens in my other CS3 programs (In Design) as well.  I tried trashing the photoshop plist file (com.adobe.photoshop.plist) and also the com.adobe.118.registration file, which had no effect.
I have an image with 2 layers. On one of the layers I have applied a gradient (default). I want to edit the gradient yet when I attempt to move the sliders by clicking and dragging, nothing moves. In addition, when I right click on the gradient window, the gradient editing menu appears but I cannot get it to do anything as the end functions in the menu are grayed out.
I just installed Indesign CC on a new Mac laptop (I can provide specs if needed), and when I open ID *all* menu items are greyed out. I can't create a new file, open legacy files, or even quit the app (force quit only). I have not installed any plugins. Other CC programs work fine.
I just installed CS4 a week or two ago. I've used other versions in the past -- mostly for processing digital images -- and am now trying learn some graphic design techniques,
I created a path using the pen tool, changed it to a selection, right-clicked inside the selection area and wanted to Fill the selection, but the menu option is disabled. Does anyone know why? or what I need to do to enable it? Those menu options never seem to enable in the main Edit menu either.
I am running on Windows Vista, Dell Quad-Core system.
Just installed Photoshop CS4. Few problems I'm noticing: - On startup, most menu items under all the top menu are greyed out. It starts with the marquee tool selected, and if I select another tool (like the selection tool),the greyed out items (like File->Open) work and stay working. - I can't close PS CS4 after startup if I don't first select a different tool other then the default (marquee) - I installed a couple extensions via the Extention Manger and they do not show up under Window->Extensions (it's greyed out always). I've uninstalled and reinstalled, did all my Vista Ultimate updates (including SP1). Any thoughts would be appreciated. I've got a top end (well was last year) video card, lots of ram and disk, etc..Dell XPS410 system loaded. Â
Adjustment Panel Fly-out menu options. The Adjustment Panel was added to Photoshop in CS4 and two of its Fly-out Menu options seem to be more a problem then useful.
I have been unable to select previous folders used for export by selecting them from the usual dropdown menu in the export dialog box. All the folders created by the Choose option since installing LR4 are shown, but the are grayed out an inaccessable. I am unable to locate the Preferences file in my user library (Mac Lion 10.7.3) to delete it to see if that might work.
The software that I use my GIMP images for requires that I export a bmp with the settings in the attached screenshot. I have two questions:
Is there a preset somewhere or perhaps an image type that I can select that will always export bitmaps with the Do not write color space information checked and 24bit R8 G8 B8 radio button selected?
Is there a way I can script this to be done as part of a python script?
These are the only image choices I have available.
These are the export options I need for my image to be visible in the software, I have to select these options every single time I do an export.
When I use File/Open everything is greyed out because the Enable field is blank. I can't find any place to set this field permanently to All Readable Documents. Â Secondly, when I use Save As, Photoshop wants to save my image in a .eps format unless I save it as JPEG Stereo.
I tried to first open a KDC file, which is a RAW file from my Kodak Camera, by clicking on File>Open but it didn't work. So then I attempted to open it using "Import". That was when I found out Import was grayed out. Why would that be? I just installed the program and this happens! Is there a setting I need to change?
Inventor Pro 2012.I am opening some SolidWorks 2011 SLDPRT files to make them into Inventor part files. The models come in fine. When I try to produce a IDW I can Dimension all the geometry but can not call out and holes/threads. I am using Win 7 64 bit, all the latest service packs for Inventor and Windows.Â
I have include a snipe screen of the Open file dialogue box and the selected options.
