AutoCAD Inventor :: Broken Context Menu?

Feb 28, 2012

One of my users has been complaining that his "right click stops working".  I have verified the problem myself, and find it very odd. It seems to be exclusive to his machine, which is a Windows XP 32 bit, I think with 4GB RAM and a decent gaming graphics card running IV 2012.

After he's been working about half of the day he suddenly is unable to right click and bring up his context menu.  He then has to save his work and reboot his machine.  After this he'll be good again for a few hours.

I asked him if he can bring up his context menu on other applications when IV's stops working.  He didn't know but said he would try it the next time he has the problem.

I also asked him if he's using a 3 gig switch.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Context Menu Entry Using C#?

Apr 27, 2012

I'm trying to add to a right click menu for an Inventor addin using C#. I'm basing mine off of a VB sample. However, it appears VB allows the add command to be missing values, whereas C# will not allow any empty values. The 3 commas in a row are where the error occurs. C# error is simple "argument missing".

ControlDefinitions controlDefs = m_inventorApplication.CommandManager.ControlDefinitions; ButtonDefinition m_featureCountButtonDef = controlDefs.AddButtonDefinition("Add symbol", "symbolAddition", CommandTypesEnum.kQueryOnlyCmdType, "{DFJMQC00-938F-11E1-AFAA-.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Context Menu Gets Cut Off In 2012 SP2

Jun 11, 2012

Not only do I find the Marking Menu extremely annoying, but it's buggy as well.  It cuts off the context menu in certain zones of he screen - see attached.  If the object I right click on is low enough, it will bump the menu up.  The classic context menu works just fine.  I find this happening more than not when trying to suppress a part for a LOD.

AutoCAD Inventor :: 2011 Context Menu Delay?

Nov 10, 2010

When I have an assembly open and I right click on a part, there is about a 4 to 5 second delay until I get the context menu. The second time that I right click on the same part, the menu comes up almost instantly.

Does not matter if it is a "large" or "small" assembly.  See the same lag.  Here is a link to a short video [URL]

I have tried using different projects files and disabled the "Quick File Open" in app options.  Neither made any difference.

Hardware setting set to "Performance".  Using nvidia driver 257.21 and running a GTS 250 card.  I have the advantage sub pack #2 installed.

Can I create popup button control underneath another pop button control?

I can do this with .net controls, but I can't seem to get this to work with Inventor.  Whenever I try to add a command bar to another command bar.Controls I get an Invalid Parameter error.

Here is what I am referring to. I would like to be able to add a menu below a menu.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Browser Context Menu Is Not In Correct Location

Sep 29, 2009

I have dual monitors. I have my Inventor on the left hand screen. When I click on the drop-down in the model browser, the menu which should appear on under the drop-down arrow appears on the right monitor. Pretty frustrating to have to move the pointer all the way across the screen to click the menu.

I have tried resetting the menus, toggling the model browser on/off. Nothing changes.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Sketch Visibility IAM And IPT

Mar 20, 2012

I sometimes edit parts in assemblies. When I turn sketch visibility on or off it does not stay the way I left it. I should be able to edit a part in part view or assembly and the view setting off or on should be how it was last saved. If I saved an ipt with the vision it should be on in any & all assemblies it lives in but its not. I have noticed the difference in new version 2012 - 2011 was no problem.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Unable To Turn On / Off Sketch Visibility

Jul 4, 2012

I have three sketches.  Two are 2D sketches and the third is a 3D sketch created by the intersection of two surfaces created from the previous two 2D sketches.  The order of the browser is as follows:

Sketch1
Sketch2

Revolution (surface)
Extrusion (surface)

3D Sketch 1

When I go back to edit Sketch 2, Sketch 1 is always showing...regardless of whether or not I turn on/off visibility.  The visibility toggle has no effect.  Sketch 2 has no projected geometry from Sketch 1.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Frame Generator Sketch And Plane Visibility

Jan 9, 2013

I added another extrusion profile to my structural shapes library, using the same method as the others a few years ago.  It works, but the new extrusion now shows up with its profile sketch, start and end planes, and driven dimension visible.  The old stuff doesn't (like I would expect).  I have all planes in the published part turned off, not marked for export, etc., just like in the old ones.   How do I turn this off?  Inventor 2012 SP2.

When I open the extrusion separately, the work features to not display.  But, the it's also shown as the "default" color not as material.  Why does it default to "default" not "as material" like everything else?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Step Through Part Dimension Visibility?

May 19, 2013

I have been trying to sequentially show (and then hide) the dimensions for each feature (together with  its related sketch dimensions)  in a part browser tree.

I can set the visibility for any one of the sketches with e.g.

oSketches.Item(1).Visible = True
oSketches.Item(1).DimensionsVisible = True 'Show sketch dimension

and show the visibilty of the feature dims with e.g.

Set oFeature = odef.Features.Item(1)
oFeature.FeatureDimensions.Show  'Show feature dimension

but I cannot work out how to test which feature a particular sketch is dependent upon. Until I do this the visibiliy

of the feature and sketch dimensions cannot be synchronised.

I expected something like

If odef.Features.Item(1) = oSketch.Parent might work or maybe the  Isownedby function but so far I have had no luck with anything I have tried.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Multibody IPT Solid Visibility When Working In Sketch - 2013 SP2

Sep 30, 2013

I'm doing a fairly big one-off for use at our factory so am going the multibody ipt route.  I have a design view setup within the ipt with nearly all solids switched off but when working within a sketch this seems to be ignored. I want to make sure I am projecting from sketches not bodies so if I need to tweak things later and bodies change the model won't fail.

I.e. the bodies all become visible when working in a sketch where as before going into the sketch the bodies weren't showing.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Sketch Exits Upon Dimension Edit?

Dec 9, 2011

Seen this recently? Using Inventor 2012 SP1 on Windows 7, 64 bit. If we go back into a previously created sketch and edit or add a dimension, upon clicking the green check mark to complete the dimension edit, the sketch exits back to the modelling environment, meaning we have to edit the sketch again to continue with other changes. Obviously no big deal if I'm only editing one dimension, but how often does that happen?

This started happening prior to SP1 being installed. We have this happening on multiple computers (all with the same hardware specs) in our office. I don't believe it to be a hardware or driver issue, but I am wondering if it is a process issue. For example, we use project geometry a lot, even projecting from other parts within an assembly (non-adaptively). We also work on SAT file models, rather than geometry initially created from Inventor itself.
