Xara :: Reverse Colors On A Fill Gradient?
Feb 29, 2012I've got an object that I've filled with a circular fill/gradient. Is there a button that allows me to swap the start color and end colors in one click? If this was a linear gradient I could just position the start and end points to reverse it but since its circular I must swap the start and end to retain the circular effect.

May 2, 2012I am able to put text in a vector however, I'm having problems having text and then adding reverse path text.
What I would like to do is add additional text at the bottom of the circle but concave instead of convex. I hope that makes sense. I want to have the text at the bottom wrap around the circle but like a smile so the text isn't upside down.

Sep 21, 2012I want to create a gradient fill, top to bottom of some text.To do this, I'm creating my text in a solid colour (can't seem to find a gradient fill on the text tool), then wand selecting the background inverting the selection then applying a gradient.
Unfortunately, applying the fill seems to make the text lose all smoothness (anti-aliasing?).I've tried feathering (using Boltbait) but even at 1 it's too aggressive and the text ends up too skinny.
How to maintain the anti-aliasing but also have a gradient.

Nov 29, 2011I often use gradient cylindrical fill to paint pipes, however if gradient has to fill wide boundry it gets distorted, i found the way of making a short block and scaling it, gradient fill is consistent. It's ok but i want to make a dynamic block out of it and i cant, also if i explode this block gradient fill problem reappears (see pic)
Basicly i want similar looking hatch but without problem.

Jul 26, 2011I was reading a tutorial on Photoshop about using a gradient map on a brush (the case in point was of drawing fire, with four colours, black, red yallow and white, making up the gradient map) such that you'd paint just once to get all four colours from each brush stroke. Here is an example. I was wondering how to do that in PSP X3 Ultimate. I am not new to PSP but I never used the more complicated brush features. Scripting doesn't scare me too much, if it comes to that, but I'd prefer a manual approach.

Nov 30, 2013I have an image with a gray foreground and want to change the colour. With the flood fill tool selected I click on the foreground colour box in the materials palette.I click on the colour frame, the colour momentarily shows but does not alter the colour box.Clicking on the rainbow tab displays a box with black to white gradient in it.This will change the colour box to any shade clicked on.Clicking on the swatches colour tab gives varying shades in the colour box or does not change the colour box.What is going on here and how do I get back to normal so that I can change the foreground colour as before? PSPro X

Feb 21, 2012In PSPx2 I used to select an area in an adjustment layer and then use the Flood Fill tool to create a mask. Did it quite often.
In PSPx4 the Flood Fill tool doesn't seem to work on adjustment layers. I can get the desired effect using the Airbrush, but it's a tedious and imprecise technique. Is this a known bug (I searched the forum but couldn't find it) or an intentional change?

Oct 26, 2013PSP X6. In the Manage workspace, in preview mode, the picture on the preview area does not fill the frame but about 3/4 of it leaving the right and bottom ends empty. It is the same with the 64b and 32b vertions.

Feb 17, 2013I traced an image earlier, expanded it then wanted to change the line colour. For some reason I couldn't get this to work even though I've done it in the past. So, I used the magic wand to select the line then dragged it into my new document and changed the line colour.
Now, I want to change the fill on certain sections, however when I change the stroke it changes the colour of the line and when I change the fill it changes the color of the line.
Illustrator :: How To Stroke Behind Other Stroke But In Front Of Fill
Jan 4, 2013I have a shape with a black stroke and green fill. I have a white line segment over it. How do I get it so that the end of the line segment doesn't show over the black stroke of the object? If I try to put the line segment behind the object, then the object fill hides it completely.
I'm new to illustrator and I've tried to search for an answer but I don't know the best way to accomplish what I want to do. Seems like some combination of transparency or knockout groups and I've read a bit about this and can't figure out what I need to do.
Photoshop :: Reverse Gradient Effect...
Feb 8, 2004I was working on a design. I had a dark gray background and was going to do a soft white gradient effect in my selection.
When I went to do it, for some reason it was reversed. The gradient came into the selection but just above the selection was a darker color. So it looked like a gradient with a shadow all at once.
Then I looked at my layers and noticed I was not in the new layer, but I was on my background layer, so it was one layer.
So when I did the design, I went back to play with gradients and it wouldn't happen anymore. Does anyone know how this happened, it was a nice effect.
My mode was on "normal" and the only difference is that I was on a background layer already filled with color, so I thought that was it, but apparently not.
it looked pretty clean to get a gradient with a shadow effect on the outside of the selection. The only other way it does some of this effect, is when I feather the selection and use foreground/background color with the gradient tool, but it's not the same.
Illustrator :: Auto Switch Between Stroke Fill And Fill
Nov 20, 2012I spend 12 hours a day in illustrator and some functionality seems to simplistic and ultimately annoying.I'm using Windows 7 64bit. Adobe Illustrator CS6
1. Please auto switch between Stroke fill and fill when I select text. 99% of my time is spent only using fill on text. I would rather manually switch to Stroke when I want to add a fill to it rather having to switch to fill each time.
2. Same for Stroke, from point 1.
3. Add an auto layer for Guides. When I am using the Scissors tool, the majority of the time I don't want to cut my guides up, I would rather instead cut up the shape below it. Again manually changing the layer to select the guide would be preferable.
4. I personally never use the Eraser tool and I switch to the Scissors Tool. Without fail every time I launch Illustrator I have to switch from the Eraser Tool too the Scissors tool. Please add cookies or something so I don't have to always switch to the Scissors Tool.
5. Move "Align to Pixel" toggle somewhere outside a file menu.
Illustrator Scripting :: Apply Current Fill Color To Stroke Then Adjust That Stroke Color's Build?
Apr 9, 2013I'm trying to figure out a way to automate a simple, yet repetative process I do countless times a day. Ideally, I'd like to tie it to a keystroke to speed up my workflow.
I work on line art and colorways for footwear, so the way I'm coloring these shapes and strokes break apart the different materials and pieces of the shoe.
While coloring line art, I work with Pantone spot colors as fills for closed path objects. I then have to manually apply that same color to the stroke, set the stroke to 0.5px weight, convert that spot stroke color to CMYK, and add 15% to the K value.
I found some code in an older post for applying the actively selected object's fill color to the stroke, but I'm having but I'm having trouble with the next step of figuring out how to take that spot stroke color and convert it to a CMYK build that I can then add 15% black to. Is this something that's even possible? I've spent about an hour playing with the script and have only had luck matching the fill color or turning the stroke white.

Looks better, but I also want to have a gradient, not only 1 stroke colour.. is this possible? If not, how do you fill your shape with a gradient?

Aug 19, 2004I am following along a tut where you make a selection (navbar) with the rectangular marquee tool. Create a new layer and apply a gradient to the selection. Then you choose blending options and apply a stroke to the selection. However when I try to apply the stroke I have problems. Instead of just applying the stroke to the outside edge of the navbar it actually overlays the entire navbar and changes the colour of it. I have used the stroke before and never had this problem so Im not sure what I could be doing wrong. Im following the tut as it is written too.

I am simply trying to apply a gradient within a shape, and it keeps only applying it to the stroke. If I try to add a gradient to a path that doesn't have a stroke, it will automaticallly add a stroke.

Feb 15, 2014Why I can’t add a gradient to a brush stroke. As soon as I select the drawn brush stroke and I try playing around with the gradient, the whole stroke goes black…This is driving me nuts. And the weird thing the gradient can be applied only to the basic brush type…not the one that I need unfortunately. I’m not sure why that is…I can only add colour to the brush stroke but no gradient sadly. Is there something I’m doing wrong or a setting which prevents this from happening?

Jan 24, 2013It seems that all these gradients-in-stroke options are only available for strokes that are aligned to the center of the path. I have tried to set inside and outside strokes, but i cannot for the life of me activate the right two options (even though they look like i can click on them).

Jan 2, 2005i try to fill say a circle or something using fill or the paint bucket it never makes a nice smooth circle. There is always some color outside of the space i selected just like the pic i attached.
It also does the same thing when i but a border around something with the stroke feature.
Illustrator :: Apply Gradient Across Stroke Not Working Now?
Jul 3, 2013Updated Illustrator to CC and now my apply gradient to stroke is acting funny (also does it with apply along stroke). First i can't get it to show up unless I find a number it likes (start out with 1 pt, don't see a stoke so increase size 1 pt at a time up to 11 to see it) now the corners have gotten strange, They seem to be missing small patches. You can see in the image I am not doing anything fancy, it's type and then just to make sure it wasn't a font problem I tried just a rectangle. It seems to be worst with corner set to round joint.
