I can't seem to get my scanner to stop scanning documents in PS Pro...I have a letter I wanted to scan and email but it gets attached to the email as a Jpeg and opens only with PS. Not good for the reciever. How do I set up PS so it is not the default for scanned items?
View 2 RepliesHas native scanner support for 64-bit Windows been added to X4, or is it still necessary to purchase a 3rd-party driver (VueScan)? I ask because my copy of X3 is sitting on the shelf unused due to lack of scanner support, however Photoshop Elements 8 is working with the Canon scanner with no issues. It is time to upgrade one of these products and lack of scanner support is a deal breaker for me.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had PSP X3 for sometime but have never been able to connect to my scanner. The options for Twain acquire and Twain Source are dimmed. Everything works fine with PSP X2 but since upgrading I can no longer use my scanner. I've tried to log a question with the knowledge base but for some obscure reason I am unable to get that to work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to scan from a Kodak ESP 3250 All in One, into X4 on a Toshiba Satellite with 4GB memory and a 120GB SSD with 80GB free.
No matter how small an image area I try to scan, colour, grey-scale or BW, or how low I set the resolution, I get the message that there is not enough memory, and to close some documents, even when there are none open.
I can scan from the ESP 3250 into other installed programs OK.
I have Windows 7 Home Premium with all updates installed.
Does PS allow for scanning of negatives on a regular scanner, then processing them to digital positives? Scanner is Lexmark Prevail Pro 705

I have one administrator account and two users accounts (user A and user B) with the same priviledges
The Problem:I can use my scanner smoothly if I log in as either administrator and user A, conversely when I log in as user B PSP tells me "no scanner found".If I log in as user B and run PSP as administrator the scanner is recognized and works properly.When the scanner works, inside PSP - File - Import - Twain origin I see the following window

I'm trying to open some AMD partner logos, and they're in EPS format. I tried opening them in PSPX2 originally, and it gave the error that "This PostScript file is either not valid or contains unsupported features" so I tried PSPX3 and the same thing is happening. I tried opening them in Notepad to see if there was anything in there to identify the program that was used to create them and it appears to be Illustrator 13. I don't have Illustrator 13, so how do I resolve this issue with PSPX3?
View 3 Replies View RelatedPSP x4 SP1, EDIT view. I disabled tabbed documents. If I minimize a pic or pics and then restore, the pic or pics restore into tabs. When I subsequently go to Window >Tabbed Document and click, all of the pics cascade (ignoring my preference to have the MDI windows fit the pictures). The Window > Tabbed Documents command is never unchecked throughout all of this. I can't make it be unchecked - it remains checked.
Palettes that I don't use open seemingly at random on my custom workspace after restarting the software, even though I have the NEVER automatically show palettes option set in preferences
I had given up on x4, but I thought I'd try the service pack. Corel did fix the copy/paste offset error. But, after a few hours of configuring (again) and playing with SP1, I still think that x4 is not ready for prime time. I feel that it is a waste of upgrade money and a regrettable waste of my time.
I am trying to scan images from HP8600 printer/scanner attached via network. I get this error message "Not enough memoy to complete this action. Please close one or more documents or applications and try again. If this does not correct problem, you can try adjusting the memeory setting in Windows or you can work on a smaller version of the document."
I have already:
- rebooted to have a "fresh" copy of Windows 7
- increased the virtual memory from 6GB to 9GB
- decreased the scan to 100dpi (from the standard 200 dpi)
- tried a different HP8600
- had the HP8600 scan and push the image to the computer (works, but just an average image)
- searched the forum
- read the PSPX5 bug thread
Since My Documents is where I put all my *useful* files/folders, I like to keep it clean and organized. I don't want it cluttered up with folders that programs are using to store "work" files, as is the case with PSP. I went to preferences and laboriously changed ALL File Locations to the user/my-name/appdata/...etc. area. But when I saved, exited and reloaded PSP, those folders were created again. Checking the File Locations in preferences again showed that the appdata ones I had put in were still the top (primary) folder option, but the ones directing the files to "documents" had been created again as the third entry in each category.
How can I keep these folders/files OUT of My Documents?
I'm looking for a way to scan directly into PSE 10 with my negative scanner. Maybe a plug-in? I know it's unlikely that there's something to convert the image to positive etc but I'd rather spend time doing that than use the bundled software with the scanner (SilverFast). However, currently Get From Scanner gives me "Film Scanner" which either previews and scans black negs or doesn't work at all without Silverfast installed. Seems the only way to set it up as a TWAIN scanner (yep, got TWAIN plug-in) is to use a seperate piece of software like silverfast which is then launched to get the scan. Got correct and up-to-date drivers properly installed.

All these files are installed on my PC so why does X6 insist on conecting to the internet for them? I know that if I disconect from the internet (but why should I Corel?) the help files load off my hard drive but if I click on Help/User Guide (PDF) I get "File not found".
Every time Corel comes up with a update, they change my default jpeg, bmp - all my pictures - to their new camera icon. How can I reset back to default settings? get Corel to stop this practice?

I have been through the Preferences / Warnings & Auto Actions and can see no place to set it. I resolved it in PSPX2 but I can't remember how I did it. I have compared the 2 version's settings & can't see any difference.
I have alot of paper that I want to reduce & eliminate, I have a bunch of certificates, magazine/newspaper clippings that I have from high school & college to scan & would like to know what color settings would be best.
I also have a bunch of brochures, other odd papers, receipts, & handwritten notes.
I am using an Epson perfection photo 4490 flatbed scanner, on a mac running lion 10.7.5.
I would also like to know what would be the best resolution to use.
I read a little about bit depth, & from what I gather, the human eye can only see so many colors, & going with bigger color depths is good where one has to do alot of editing.
most of these items are for records & archives, & maybe to be able to print from the scans, so I can throw out some of my paper.Also, when I scan in Adobe RGB, would it be best to use 48 bit depth to go with the fuller color? & when I use sRGB use 24 bit depth?
Is it possible to have a look at the sourcecode oft Paint? I am having trouble with a Nikon Coolscan IV Scanner. I am using at the moment twaindotnet. Do you have a better library?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find a editor that will allow me to do some basic things with a very large tiff file created from a wide-format scanner. I had hopes that Paint .NET would do it since it seems to support 64 bit. The file I'm trying to edit is 1.7GB uncompressed tiff. Unfortunately, Paint seems to take forever to load (5-10 minutes), even when I have at least that much available memory on my 4GB Win7-64 machine. Are there any tips to conserve memory or to make this possible?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to print multiple documents with a duplex printer, so I need to set the order in which the documents are sent to the printer. In the Print dialog box, when I select "Documents" in the "Print range", I can select the documents to print, but I cannot set the order in which they're printed. I appears that the order is in reverse alphabetical (how logical!). As far as I can tell, the only way to determine the order is to rename the files (using Save As). Interestingly, if I "Save As" a pdf or "Publish to PDF", the documents are in the order in which they were loaded or created.
If you're going to offer the ability to print or export multiple documents as a single file, it seems that there should be some way to order the documents first.
Just came upon an error I had not seen before. Though PSP no longer supports Animation Shop, up until PSP X4, the user has been able to export frames back to PSP from Animation Shop. Now, this no longer works! There's still some communication there, because an error message - which, incidentally, makes absolutely no sense at all - is generated in PSP X4:

Is any way to stop the images from filtering?
I installed PSP X4 today on a new PC with Windows 7 and noticed that it has no Animation Shop. Can I install Animation Shop to this machine? Will it work without PSP 9 or does it need certain dlls from PSP 9 ? I really want to be able to use Animation Shop again.

I never use it and its a waste of my time because it takes too long to load up! I don't know if my mouse has a problem, but sometimes I can just click once on a bitmap and it triggers the photo paint to open.

I take photo's of a particular car & then try to create the decals using the images in Corel. I clean up the images/photo's & when ready downsize the images to basically 1:64th size (matchbox car size) but the image blurs when I downsize & can't use the image.
Is it possible to make the program to stop rounding when I try to set the image size? I'm putting in a size that is like 4.569 and it rounds it to 4.57 and I don't want it to round it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to use the paint brush for editing a photo I have, but the only color available is black. No matter where I've looked in PSP, there was no option to change the color of the paint brush. I've read online that you need to change the pallet to material pallet, then go to "Foreground & Stroke Properties" and set the color box to the color I want, but the only colors I get are different hues of black and gray.
Even in Paint it's just a matter of clicking the desired color to use different colors. Why isn't it so simple in PSP?
