I have PSPx4. If I select an area of the image and try to apply color balance (Adjust|Color balance), the effect gets applied to the entire image, not just the selected area. Is there a way to apply color balance to just a selected region?
View 5 RepliesI am trying to use Color Balance and the window doesn't work. The only part that shows is the "Enhance Color Balance" box, the words "purple" and "green" just above, and the preview arrow (which does nothing) and "preview on image". Preview on image is checked and it does show changes but I am unable to uncheck it. Nothing else shows. Nothing I have tried has worked, including restarting the computer.

When I use Adjust --> Color Balance and use the temperature slider the cool <---> warm seems to work as expected (i.e. my image becomes more blue to the left, more red to the right).
When I click the Advanced Options box, the slider labels are the same, but the behavior swaps: so the Cool label is still on the left, BUT when side the handle to the left, my image becomes more RED, & if I slide to the right (labeled warm) my image becomes more blue.
For family history purposes, wish to improve the legibility of some hand written 1930 telegrams; the ink has faded with time so I want to change its colour to black. The form printing has not faded.
The user guide draws attention to the fact that the color selected for replacement must be in the image. Using the Dropper tool with sample size 1 pixel I position the dropper where I want it, see the color in the preview window, then right-click and the selected color appears in the background window on the Materials panel. So far, so good. I then place the Dropper tool over black in the swatch on the Materials panel, click and black appears in the Foreground window of the Materials panel. I think I'm set.
When I select the Color Replacer tool the background window immediately reverts to another color, usually white.Incidentally, the user guide suggests you read up on selecting colors with the Dropper; when you do this you learn that its OK to pick colors from the Materials panel.
I would like to change the Dark color working area for a lighter one such as grey used in old Paint Shop 6 or 7.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use a Pentax K-r and the white balance icon above the EXIF data panel only shows if I have used Auto White Balance. If I have used any of the other modes available in the camera, no icon is shown and the EXIF data lists the shot as taken with manual white balance. The other two icons (metering mode and JPG/DNG) work correctly. The white balance issue means that I have to note the white balance setting of each shot while the card is in the camera and put it by hand against the shot in PaintShop Pro. This is very time-consuming and seems to be a serious omission.
I have since found that the white balance icon works with my Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ-150 camera, although the EXIF data still shows the shots as taken with manual white balance, so it seems to be a compatibility problem that needs to be resolved.
im using Adobe PS 7.0. Im trying to So I have picture of A person standing in a city with clothes and everything. The thing im trying to do is changeing the color of his jacket (only) but every time I try it changes the color of the whole pictures or something else. Image>Adjustment>HueSaturation>Changeing from master to other color>then pressing ****+ and taking some samples> then when im draging the Hue or saturation its changes the whole picture. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got two different color balance problems. The first is where I have two photos that I want to match the lighting in each.
The second is where I have a 'control' and I want another photo or print to 'match' it.
Currently I'm having the second problem. A customer brought in an original painting for us to scan and make holiday cards from. But they also brought in a photo print from a local chain and they have asked me to match the color representation from that print.
It is duller, the blues are purple and it is over all darker. Personally, I think the photo is a horrible representation of the painting. BUT IT IS WHAT THE CUSTOMER WANTS.
I've scanned in both the photo and the original drawing. If I print the photo it matches the color of the scan. (but is the wrong crop size and can't be used for the card.)Â How do I draw color out of that and get my original to 'match' other than just using my eyes? (which is about impossible for me today) I normally use 'sample/target balance' in corel PhotoPaint, but you can't do that between two layers OR between two files. This would be a great change to make in x7 or an update.

I am using Pro X3 in full editor. When using Presets, if I select a preset such as an arrow from the drop down menu, the drop down menu seems to cover the Apply button. I can place a preset in my image but I cannot find the apply button while working from the Preset sub menu. The object retains the edit frame until I close the image, then I am asked if I want to APPLY before saving.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI was reading a tutorial on Photoshop about using a gradient map on a brush (the case in point was of drawing fire, with four colours, black, red yallow and white, making up the gradient map) such that you'd paint just once to get all four colours from each brush stroke. Here is an example. I was wondering how to do that in PSP X3 Ultimate. I am not new to PSP but I never used the more complicated brush features. I want to select a by color part of the sky. So I am using magic wand (match mode "color"). The problem is that it select the white shirt as well.
So, using freehand selection, I selected just the sky. Once I want just a color (not all sky), I am trying to to use magic wand (match mode "color" in mode "replace"). But once already exist a selection, the magic wand isn't available to "replace" (just in other modes - add or remove).
How could I make this selection without selecting the shirt? The intent of my first freehand selection was to protect the magic wand of selecting the shirt...
Is there a way to make PS X4 open up images the way it did in older versions... i.e. each image opens up as a stand alone floating box so I can have them side by side? (See attached image)
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn X4 I could set the pallettes I wanted (layers and History) to a docked position on the RHS. With X6 the pallettes cover the RH part of the window and the image, with the opened image centred on the whole screen so that the RH part is cut off. It can't be centred within the area visible when the pallettes are open. This gives a smaller visible image if the whole image is in view. This is a serious issue, which X4 handled ok ! I've tried all the options but cannot get X6 to behave like x4

I am not sure what it is called but what I am talking about is the space in the middle of the program where photos open up into (not the workspace option which changes the menu bar colours of which I am using the blue option.) At the moment the centre area is a charcoal colour. When I am editing a photo which is smaller than this space it is surrounded by this colour and it makes it hard for me to see the thin black border which I place around some photos. Can I change the colour of the editing area to white?

Right now I have to use the 3rd party software to do something like this. I'm curious if there's a way to do inside Revit?
